Andy is the only scale modeler I know that owns his own hobby shop and that’s so awesome .👍
I have to agree ... it's pretty awesome to work and play simultaneously. Thanks for watching! - Andy
My friend in ex RAF he does the same I'm never away from the place as it's just 5 mins walk to top of the street lol! it's just like going to your mate house when abitty younger but going talking n build models and the place was packed yesterday! It was like a bloddy coffee shop with people sitting about blethering all about the hobby! It's actually the very first time I have seen this in the shop though! I think this lockdown cappers is bringing people's building talents out the old wood work for thing to do just now!
@@AndysHobbyHeadquarters When do you build? When the store's closed or with customers so they can see you work?
@@Emtbtoday kk koooooooo
@@vtbmwbiker Hi Paul ... I build in between customers and before I open. Yes, customers can see my work in progress but I don't film while they are here. Thanks for watching! - Andy
Andy, this kit fills a HUGE vacuum in WW1 ships. I want to see an SMU-20 type sub, such as the one that sank the Lusitania.
Awesome 😎! Your next build should be a WW2 U-boat😁! Always happy to see you building and painting!
Yessssssss! Maybe a comparison build with Revell’s latest 1/72 Type IXC (U67/U154).
Ships are my favorite subject to build. I wish to see more plastic models of civillian ships, specifically workships like tugs, offshore support vessels, icebreakers, fishing ships and stuff like that. Those kinds of models are plenty to be found in wooden kit form or from RC based companies, but very few made in smaller scale plastic kits.
I think someone could sell a ton of kits by making 1/87 and 1/160 scale models that would double as HO and N scale model railway accessories. Imagine a Liberty or Victory ship in N. The former's 33" length in N isn't out of beyond practicality, and regular ship modellers would snap them up as well as train buffs! And, as you say, Rand, tugs and fishboats would be naturals, as well as little coastal cargo ships and railcar ferries. Hit two markets with one stone!
I would love to see a 1/48 Ford Trimotor. Great work as always, can't wait to get mine.
That would be so cool!
Good shout. The JU-52 is well represented. Maybe a B-18 Bolo would be great in Canadian anti sub colours.
I love how the superstructure pieces have all those little pins and frames to line up everything perfectly without too much effort. I have just finished building Trumpeter 1/350 Arleigh Burke kit and pretty much all of its superstructure is built from flat side and top pieces to be glued together without any supporting pins, frames or anything. It is like building a house from cards while preserving a perfect geometry of the superstructure that doesn't even have a right angle anywhere. That's the difference between well designed and crappy kit.
Now that Wingnut Wings is gone, it would be great to see some of the more known model companies (such as Tamiya) stepping up to the mark and developing their own 1/32 scale WW1 aircraft models. The range and possibilities of types are limitless such as the Italian Caproni trimotors, the Handley Pages and other British derivatives and the multitude of German, Austria-Hungarian, Russian etc. We can only but dream!!
I would definitely be interested in those
I'd like to see more things like the Maschinen Krieger range, alternate history type creations. Additionally, standard models with more internal workings available, even if it's optional. Like service hatches on planes that you can show the gubbins inside or just seal it up and use the parts as greeblies for other projects. Just more details beyond the cockpits and cabins that the builder can choose to show or not.
Yes!
I really like the alternate history idea or even camo schemes for the existing vehicles for the "could have been" theaters of war
I'll never get tired of your videos, I was watching some modeler vids because I've always been scared to start modelling because people kept telling me that I wasn't made for it..
Thanks to you I decided to start, and I'm glad I did because I enjoy it so much, finished my Tamiya Leopard 2A5 while watching your video on it, and I've never felt this proud to finish something !
So thank you, and keep up the good work !
Tamiya 1/32 Hawker Hurricane, do ya magic Andy
Andy you are the one who got me started in the hobby. During covid I had came across your videos and I have ordered numerous kits from you and have been very pleased doing business with you. Thank you
I'd like to encourage Revell to come out with the 1:48 SR-71 they've been teasing as soon as possible.
Dayum. Absolutely would buy one.
Andy great video. We are missing a 1/32 Hawker Hurricane Mk 1 - never been a decent kit. Come on Tamiya:-)
As an avid model maker /assembler /scratch - builder of 58 years of age, my thing is aircraft - '48 /' 32nd scale. As a break and as a ship lover, I've done the Revell 1/72 Flower Class Corvette - almost entirely scratch - built above deck and I've kit - bashed a few Airfix kits for weapons (40mm Bofors, etc) - here's a kit that challenged every ounce of skill and patience I have at every step and sub - assembly - 2 years to build (thanks Revell!) - a complete retooling or... a 1/72 Castle Class Frigate would be beautiful and would sell. Om the flip - "side of that, Revell have already presented us with the Type IXc-40 (Snorkel equipped) U190, the IXc U505 (Same basic kit) - both a beautiful build which I have, and the massive 1320mm US Navy Gato Fleet Class Submarine... another absolute gem to build... these kits all constantly sell - out and are massively catered for with aftermarket goodies... (Revell also do the Type VIIc - early and late war versions)... these kits are hard to come by as it is, so other manufacturers looking for a good, solid seller world do well to put out this type of ship - convoy escorts like the Flower & Castle Class are large'ish but not prohibitively big and are so popular - this type, the US Navy Fletcher Class Destroyer - in 1/72 scale are the stuff of ship - modellers dream's... Get in the ear of some of the manufacturers you have a working relationship with and let them know what people would love to buy to build! Kind regards from Sydney :)
красивая модель! спасибо! получил удовольствие наблюдая за работой)!
I'd like to see kits that were a "Diorama in a box". Model, base, background walls or rocks, trees, bushes and grass all in one box.
That's a great idea! Love it - thanks for sharing. -Andy
Ditto - very good idea, I'd definitely be interested in something like that.
Matchbox did that in the late 1970 and early 1980's. As a kid i bought lot of these sets. Typically it was a tank on a piece of ground with a ruin or someting. 1:76 scale i think it was.
Ah... You asked for suggestions for manufacturers for future projects. OK then:
1) A really nice, DETAILED 1/72 scale example of the Type XXI U-Boat, with photo etch, etc. Shouldn't be too difficult to produce, and will fill an empty niche in EVERY chronological display of WWII U-Boats.
Please Andy, try to talk one of the better kit producers into doing this!
And again, thanks for all you do! Hope to visit your store one day and meet you.
The black panel liner was a great idea. It really made the model pop. But you got to remember one thing about a U-boat. The crew would not allow the U-boat to get rusty. That was their home in the middle of the ocean. If rust got too bad under one of the ribbits. It would start to leak seawater. The upkeep of the U-boat was done vigorously and religiously when it was in port. They were always doing paint work on the U-boat. I know you like to weather things but on a U-boat. There was no rust. Even at sea the crew would paint over any scratches. That way, they could eliminate rust before it started. But everything else on the U-boat looks fantastic.
I would like to see 1/72 scale British ww2 S or T class submarine. That would be great 👍
@Brad Sinacore WITH INTERRIOR
I'll vote ya to that too.
The majority of pre-Nuclear era Submarine models seem to be German UBoat's. Great, that's cool, and I've only just finished building a United States Navy, USS Gato - 1941.
A Trumpeter kit with some missing parts.
Not so bad really, only some deck cleats for tying off mouring lines.
I'll need to buy the whole B sprue apparently, revealed from a search on Google the also included the trials of dealing with Trumpeter, head quarters in Mainland China, with a preference for fielding enquiries from wholesale and retail outfits rather than from private individuals.
Things are not looking too bright right now.
But nobody has died over this and in the scheme of life's troubles this one really ain't so bad.
Superb work Andy! I’m an airplane nut, not armour or ships, but I have learnt so much from your weathering techniques. Keep it up. All the best from Wellington NZ.
The only new kit idea I can think of would be something like one of those giant stationary steam engines from the industrial revolution. Would be kinda neat to weather up.
It's about time they made WW1 military models. Thanks for the U- boat.
@@johnbockelie3899 ICM has several WW1 military subjects.
A 1/48 scale Horten Ho 299 would be fantastic!
It's the next in line to build. Thanks for the tips.
Couple of 1/32 aircraft suggestions. The U-2 would be awesome. The F-106 would be really cool, too. I’d love to see some 1/32 general aviation but, I’m not sure it would sell very well.
Great video and thanks for showing us the build of the kit.
I really dig the “steampunk “ look of the boat with all the plates and riveting.
I would like to see more WWI ships and boats made available. Maybe torpedo boats in this scale. Or a period ship model that revolutionized the naval warship design such as the H.M.S. Dreadnought.
First off I want to say U 9 looks great.
The one kit I would like to see is a 1/48 scale V1 flying bomb with steam generator, catapult and launch ramp.
I’d love to see an injection moulded 1/48 scale “ Aliens” drop ship, or any of the “Avatar” helicopter style aircraft.
even some of the 'walkers' or yellow construction/clearing behemoths would be cool
And a 1/35 alien APC... the one from Halcyon is unobtainable nowadays... and it does need a new tooling! May be there is an issue with the licence? The drop ship in 1/48 will be amazing! +1 with the Avatar helos... perhaps an inyected Pelican from Halo in 1/48th to match the group...
I’d like to see a mega 1/350 scale warship. Then possibly a follow up series putting it into a dockyard diorama....Norwegian Fjord or Scapa Flow possibLy. Keep up the good work Andy.
Hi Andy, greetings from Sydney! As a veteran of the 1/72 Revell Type 1Xc, Type 1Xc/40 & GATO Class US Naval WWII (and the 1/72 Flower Class Corvette - an ABSOLUTE beast, which tested every skill I possess after 50 years of assembling & scratch building, at every stage of assembly and is virtually scratch - built above the waterline! - a 2 year project LOL!)... FYI... the "Conning tower is a separate pressure - vessel above the pressure - hull & is housed inside the SAIL - the name given, universally to what most folks call the" Con' "... anyhow, I love your easy and very cool headed attitude to model - making... my usual forte is large scale - 1/48 & 1/32 Warbird's... but I love ship's and couldn't resist the Revell Submarines when they became, very, briefly available... kindest regards :)
WWII Seabee construction equipment, dozers, graders, crains, dump trucks, letourneau earth movers, pontoons etc.
Really enjoy your videos and find them informative and inspirational as I'm recently retired and have gotten back into the hobby.
I'd really like to see a model build with painting and weathering of a BMW R75 German Military Motorcycle with sidecar done in Afrika Korps style. I believe Italeri makes a 1/9 scale and Tamiya a 1/35. Thanks and keep up the great work.
I would love to see an American S boat in 1/72.!
Great videos! I am a older guy who has been away from building quite a long time. I have kits just waiting, some quite old! Your channels has gotten those old modeling juices going again. I would like to see more first world war stuff. With Space X going perhaps some new kits in that area. Thanks again Andy!
I just bought this very model from your shop. Not my first purchase and won’t be my last.
I would like to see more inter-war vehicles. I just built a Polish 7TP. Simple kit, but could benefit from a major model company. Love the sub.
I thought Hobbyboss had done a pretty good job of that. There are always room for more though
Andy, another tip on weathering I found successful when I build an x boat. Gloss up the area below the water level and where water splashes were above, then satin Matt above. It creates the illusion of the boat being in the water, even when on the stand. Also added some greening on the bronze parts and even a bit of an algae line. Made for a effective display.
I would love to see a British T class sub from WW II. Also a version of the Sherman with full interior that has either clear parts or cut away so it can be viewed.
Andy, Great build. As for possible new subjects, maybe a line of support ships from WW II, Victory, Tanker, Liberty, Cargo, Transport, Repair ships. Or even some passenger liners. It would be nice if they were in 1/200 scale, as the smaller scales for us older guys are becoming quite a challenge to build.
This is the exact kit I have been wanting for years! Thanks for the build video. My order is in!!!
Just gotta say, your channel always makes me feel happy in a simple way.. And I thank you for that :) We're all just big kids, probably
Sub models have come a very long way in 50 years
1/72 Type XXI uboot, that would round off the current offerings. The beauty of this type is that it can also be built as a civilian boat as well. Thanks for asking Andy.
I’d like to see more “exotic” or lesser known vehicles.
the German Type XXI U-Boat. best of the best man
I just finished this kit. The biggest challenge was to paint on the anti-skid coating on top of the boat in a symmetrical pattern. This was my first boat/ship of any kind to attempt after years of airplanes and armor. You definitely need a wide/open space to build it because of the length of it.
I like to see model for beginners like myself I really enjoy model ing and I think I am getting better in the budget that I have to work with thanks
Great job with the U-Boat! 👍👍👍
I’m now wanting to buy one. If I do I will get it at Andy’s HHQ. A good kit idea for them to make would be a WWI British E-Class submarine.🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧There’s no kits of that on the market.
Agreed! A great Gallipoli record for the AE2. Would be a good companion kit for the U9.
Very good job !! Weathering perfect ...A+
Nice build , found on the web pictures of german u-boats washed up on Britain´s beaches, that will provide lots of ideas for dioramas , I´ll like to add to my 1/24 -1/25 scale model car collection those race transporters like 1956 Fiat Bartoletti , 1954- 1955 Mercedes Benz race transporter and the streamlined W-196.
It looks like a very nice model and I like your assembly video. The finished boat looks great.👍👍👍👍🤩
Great job. I would like to see some semi trucks from the 30s or even the 40s. . Such as the Mack’s used to build the Hoover dam or federals. There is nothing but ww2 truck kits being made
How about a "Duel" kit, featuring the tanker truck and Dennis Weavers Dodge Dart, from the movie?
Awesome job. Enjoyed the build.
Just got mine from andy's. Great kit.. one thing you left out. When glueing the hull don't try to press to hard or the deck will have major gaps!!!!
A great demonstration of what can be achieved. I probably wouldn’t have considered buying this model. However seeing your completed build it will certainly be on my wish list. Thank you. 👍
I like Itchy Feet’s idea of a complete kit with diorama.
Looks like a FUN build, really enjoyed the sound effects during the final viewing!!! 👍👍
exept for one thing: WW1 active sonar was not used. No ping today :)
Great build Andy.I'm looking forward to getting my kit and building up this boat.
I REALLY want to see a 4 stack destroyer (Clemson or Wickes Class) in 1/200 (or larger) scale. I think the Ward in it's Pearl Harbor configuration would be a big hit.
How about a Zeppelin model from WW! Have it include aircraft hanging from the bottom to later be launched.
Being a lighter than air fan, I echo this. Some many other subjects as well. UK R101, USS AKRON & MACON with scale F9C Sparrowhawks of course.
Yes! But do it in 1/72 scale, so that it will correspond with the other weapons we're modelling!
@@coinsmith I have a paper kit of one of those in 1/160 or something and it is already HUGE (almost 2 m (over 6 foot)), so I really don't think a 1/72 would sell very well.
Definitely would like to see more in the submarine range. K type maybe and some WW2 examples. Nice kit indeed.
I would love to see a 1800's Ironclad or Pre-dreadnaught ship done. Nice work on the sub.
Honestly id love to see more of the experimental or design-floor things from both the Allies and Axis.
Great work Captain, good idea to show one side weathered and one plain.
Hi Andy, just a "lurker" here but love your videos! Subscribed! I am a 1/35 WWII armor (and sometimes 1/32 aircraft) modeler, who is also building an N-scale model RR based on WWII Germany. One of the features on it will be a "mini" (as "mini" as possible, lol) Kriegshafen where I'll have a small (based on the one in Bergen) U-Boat bunker. I have 3 of the Revell 1/144 VIIC/41 subs, (1/144 being reasonably close to 1/160 N-scale, for me at least) and one XXI. In addition to a 1/144 Type IX U-boat, would love to see one or more types of 1/144 Schnellboot, Räumboot, Vorpostenboot, Sperrbrecher, even an aux cruiser like the Komet or Atlantis in 1/144 would be awesome. Realizing that a model company must expect to price, and sell enough, to see a profit, the topics must be popular enough to justify, so, I currently plan to do a lot of scratchbuilding, but, who knows, maybe more people would be interested in these? Anyway, thank you! Keep up the good work!
Fantastic! I preordered it as soon as you showed it. Can’t wait to get started! Love your channel, it has inspired me to branch out from mostly aircraft to armor and I built my first ever motorcycle after viewing the Honda you built. The reviews are great and I have learned a lot from watching your builds. Keep up the great work!
Hi Ken! Thank you so much for your preorder, you won't be disappointed. Honored to know my videos inspired you and appreciate your kind words. Many thanks - Andy
Andy, I'm a new subscriber (sent from Mike and Dave at Plastic Model Mojo) and I'd love to see a company release the Mad Max: Fury Road series of vehicles. To me, this would be a gold mine of weathering and creativity! Thanks for asking for our comments on this, especially since I'm very surprised that no manufacturer has yet obtained licensing from George Miller to market these.
El Capiten! Very nice work!!! I rely like to see how you do a deep Atlantic water in a diorama. and maybe if the companies can make more matching figures. And start to make equal size vehicles! Like 1:35 tanks to 1:32 airplanes!
Amazing result Andy!
I’m still waiting for the Italeri 1/35 Higgins PT Boat kit and the Trumpeter 1/32 TBD Devastator. The Devastator has been in their catalog for close to 8 years and the Italeri Higgins is in Google even with a Kit number.
This is a nice weekend kit. Not too many parts to take up time
Nice model, Andy. Just for accuracy, a boat’s flag pole is known (in English) as a “Jack Staff”, and the flag is a Jack, as in the Union Jack. The Jack Staff rigging lines are known as “Jack Stays”. Sailing ships only had two ropes: the anchor rope and the bell rope. All the other cordage was either running lines or rigging lines. The rigging lines were called stays, and the running lines were called halyards. You also had rat lines for climbing the masts. Just to make it more complicated, each line was named for its purpose and/or position in life. On top of that, the sails had reefing lines, which were used for reefing (shortening) the sails around the yards (spars), and that is where the reef knot comes in.
Marmon-Herrington Mk. III (South African Recce car) in 1/35 scale would be lovely. Lot of markings and modifications existed and it would give modelers pot of options. From green, green with brown disruptive patter, sand color, counter scheme, desert pink and also lot of captured by DAK...
love watching your videos , wish I could still build , my hands are too shakey, my dad taught me from a young age to build models he used to build from scratch !
Thank you so much for watching. Don't let an unsteady hand keep you from modeling. It's great therapy. All the best - Andy
My hands shake as well, essential tremors caused by CTE. Ask your doctor about Buspirone it'll help with the "Shakes".
Looks great Andy, amazing U boat.
Be cool if Tamiya updated their WW2 US half tracks
Hi Andy, I just started this kit, as you said it fits perfectly, my copy came with a great book on these boats by the guys who produced the kit so loads of
info about how they really looked in service. The rigging instructions look pretty difficult , the boat will be great looking if I manage to get it right, the
WW1 boats only dived to torpedo or get out of trouble and the petrol engines must have half gassed the crew with it closed up, very nice video, especially
the painting data, I always enjoy your stuff, regards John, England.
Amazing kit and detail Andy.
Id love to see a reissue or remakr of the Aliens model kits, e.g. APC, dropship and sulacco
1/48 for the drop ship... 1/35 for the APC... that will be great!
Just came aboard. Great little review and nice on screen personna!😊. Im usually a plane guy but that is one long term want of mine. I agreed with several suggestions for future models. We are really in a golden era for choices! The problem is time! I think Id go for a classic US rail locomotive like Trumpeter has done for German WW-2 locos. It would also get the rail groups excited also and raise sales potentials.
Wow, this was a hella cool video, as always
Hope things are goin good for you Andy! 😁
I have pre-ordered this kit from you, and am so pleased to see that you are already building it! Will anxiously await further details. Thanks!
Thank you so much for your preorder! I appreciate your business and thank you for watching. Best - Andy
Great job Andy, nice to see a kit manufacturer going for WW I subjects. Myself I would like to see a British sub from WW II in 1\72 scale. Keep up the good work.
I would love to see a 1/16th scale Sherman and a British Firefly. Excellent video as always!!
Viking Ship or battle scene would sell like crazy , many of the young are coming back to their Eurpean roots and Pagan/Viking/Roman etc is getting huge with the youth .
Zvezda in 1:72. Buy in confidence these are great
Dear Andy, thank you very much for your precious building lessons. Please consider to dedicate one of your next video to a forgotten subject: an INDYCAR FORMULA MODEL. Tamiya, Revell (Monogram) and AMT did something in the past, but now there isn't anything new on the market. Maybe you could resume something from the past and teach us a new lesson ^^
Awesome kit & fantastic paint up! Made me miss my Seaview model I made as a kid!
Great job Andy, as always.
Mayor next time U can do for example special use machines...👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Nice build Andy, thanks vor the great videos :) Id love a Blohm und Voss BV 141 in 1/32 scale, and some sci fi kits eg Firefly and LEXX
Two suggestions for future kits...a civil war cannon in 1/16 scale. Having seen this sub, maybe a kit of the Civil War Monitor ship. Can you tell I have watched to many Nationional Park Gettysburg Tour videos? Cheers
More cockpit section kits like Hong Kong models 1/32 Lancaster. The cockpit is the focal point. A section build at that scale saves shelf space. Imagine a B-52 crew section in 1/32?
Really nice model. Nice work.
Yes I do appreciate this U-9
1/35 WWI ASW crafts of any type (trawlers, drifters, etfc)
Love your work!
I am so glad this is coming out. I recently bought the old Combat Models U-9 and U-35 kits, and they are awful, but it's all that was out there. I'm so glad they actually dived the wreck in Scotland to get this right. How about a U-35 next?
Excellent job there captain Andy. One day I would like to be half as good as you. You make it all look easy. As for out there model.... how about a 1/35 Tsar tank with interior and photo etch for extra detail. It was a crazy looking machine that would look amazing on display.
Another excellent job Captain!
I want them to come out with a 1/48 AC-119 Stinger Shadow gunship also 1/48 B-26K Counter Invader. No one has made either of these planes in 1/48 and they are way overdue for the modeling community to have in this scale.
I´d like a 1/16 SdKfz 251 and 250, a 1/48 Super Constellation, 1/350 luxury liners from the 1950 to the present, and a Nostromo from Alien in 1/700 or 1/500
We need A U35 to go with this one for sure
Great model Andy love the detail
Thanks for another great video Andy! Would love to see a U-118 and U-88 among others. Also would be good to see a complete series of WWI u-boats in 1/350 scale.
I'd like to see more "classic aviation" models like a 1/32 Curtiss J4 "Jenny" or a Sikorsky S-38 and S-39. Things like that.
Still love the intro btw, so fun and i wish it were that simple to build a model
