    WHO WE ARE
SkyFi Audio is a small startup business specializing in the purchase, reconditioning, and reselling of select high end audio equipment. We only buy equipment that we admire and are passionate about. No mid-fi, no gimmicks, and no junk.
Each piece of equipment is cosmetically restored and fully tested in our well-equipped lab by an engineer with 30+ years of experience in the HiFi world. If it does not meet or exceed the original manufactures specifications, it will not be sold. We are very selective about the equipment we purchase, focusing on mostly analog, high-build quality, American, and European built units.

Aging myself here, but I got to hear a pair of K-horns driven by an MC-275 when I was in my mid-teens back in the early 80s at a store that unfortunately no longer exists. Instead of throwing us out of the store like any sane business owner would have done, the guy took the time to explain to my buddy and I what was so special about Macintosh and anything that had Paul Klipsch's name on it. I don't recall the pre-amp, but the entire system was Macintosh. It was the most realistic sound I had ever heard come out of a pair of speakers, and I remember that sound like I heard it yesterday. To this day, I'm striving to hear that again. Unfortunately don't have room for a pair of Klipschorns, but a pair of Cornwalls is in my future. The name of the store was Howell Electronics back in my home town of El Paso, TX where Paul Klipsch went to high school. Mr. Howell was one of the nicest people I have ever met and left an impression on me that I will never, ever forget. Thanks, Fernando, for carrying on the legacy of Macintosh and of Paul Klipsch.

I was fortunate enough to be able to see a Nakamichi 1000ZXL on display at a Henry Radio store in Los Angeles in 1981. Just a gorgeous piece of gear.

@@SkyFiAudio I remember it was just under $4000. In today's money that would be about $13,500.

You need proper corners/walls for the K Horns to slide into. Absolute.

For my earlier post, I didn't realize that a name got auto-corrected. McIntosh, not Macintosh.

I, honestly, did not know that McIntosh is still around. Back in the 60s, it was the one everyone, that I knew, wanted but couldn't afford.

do you ever get people who bought something used, and then get everything re-capped and re-did to pre-empt problems down the road

1:09 They're gaudy bathroom scales. Seriously, if it isn't laundromat machine looking speakers, it's bathroom furniture. Has a hifi designer ever been to design school or is it still just electrical engineers and salesmen putting these things together aesthetically? At the top end, it's the one remaining tech industry where actual trained product designers don't really work - the design is led by untrained egos and they fall into traps like this because they aren't researched. It's only in the last 5-10 years that they allowed trained typographers to fix the lettering on the silkscreen control panels. Marantz and Mcintosh were atrociously naive in theirs before someone finally had to fix it.
