Second comment: The first time we watched this was in high school, during lunch, when our classmate brought a copy. I still remember how we crowded around their laptop and awed over Wall-E and Eve, as well as the human couple. Wall-E is one of the OG cinnamon rolls before cinnamon rolls were a thing. 😁
The original ending was a lot darker: the characters that Wall E meets were aliens, but in a spoof of Planet Of The Apes, the aliens, whom look giant bowls of Jelly, are actually humans, having mutated by 700 years due to radiation exposure in space. The aliens find the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor, resembling what they once were.
That’s not the original ending, it’s the ending they considered during the writing stages. And they were just gong to be aliens. It was abandoned as an idea early on, not only because it’s really stupid, but there’s nowhere for the story to go. Unless you’re interested in Pixar’s writing process, it holds no other value as a fun fact.
@@chrissmith6097 As someone interested in Pixar's writing process, I can confirm: that doesn't seem helpful outside that specific field of knowledge lol
I can’t believe I didn’t enjoy this movie when I was younger! It’s not my favorite Pixar movie now, but I love it way more compared to when I was a kid! 🥰
Me w/ Toy Story and especially Monsters Inc tbh. I loved Finding Nemo, Wall-E, RATATOUILLE (fav Pixar film), Up, but wasn’t too into the first two. Monsters Inc especially has grown on me and I love it now
@@Little1Cave Same for me on both, as well as all the 2000s Pixar movies sans Monsters Inc - they just felt boring to hyperactive child me, but watching them back now, I appreciate them a lot more. They really are beautiful films in ways that that kid from 2008 couldn't fully appreciate, in the midst of his obsession with Transformers.
One of my favorite examples of how great Pixar is at character animation is when WALL-E's memory is wiped. Despite him being a bunch of solid metal bits that can't make traditional expressions, it's immediately clear that all the personality we saw from him throughout the movie is gone, which makes it all the more impactful when it comes back.
Fun fact! If you didn't know, there was multiple axioms! You hear the president say, "autopilots" as in plural (32:27), refering to the other axioms autopilots, and in the little tv holograms, there's multiple axioms!
It's interesting how they used live action to depict humans before they left earth. I think that's done for a few reasons. For one thing, prior to seeing the cartoony fat humans on the Axiom, everything in the film has an element of realism to it, except the cockroach. It could believably be live action if you squint. Also, they wanted to use the clip of Hello Dolly for Wall-e to watch, showing his desire to experience love. Thirdly, and I think this one's the most important, they wanted to show humanity in a way that we would recognize it, so that it would be more jarring when we get to the Axiom and see how they have fallen.
What do you mean cockroaches doesn't survives getting internationally crushed? * Does something exactly something like that twice to see if they would just mold back into shape *
especially where WALL-E almost died, then EVE's rush to repair him, and his brief lost of memory and personality before EVE gave him a kiss that re-sparked his consciousness
I don’t shed tears anymore, but WALL•E, EVE, the captain, and the others are so endearing that I still *feel* the emotional beats hit. EVE being enchanted with lighters, her determination to serve her purpose, her breaking the mold and redefining her directive. MO’s giddy rebellion and tenacity for cleanliness. The captain’s enthusiasm with Earth and how EVE coming back positive gave him hope and a will to live. *Literally every sound and action* that WALL•E does on screen! (My chest can’t NOT drop when the machine crashes down on him owww-) The humanity of these machines is so damn immersive~
I saw this movie when it came out and it was so much more impactful than I expected. It's yet another testament to how you don't actually need dialogue to make a film. The old film WALLE watches is called Hello Dolly, and was an old musical about a matchmaker.
I had a feeling that you would love this one! 😁 A heads up: if you didn't watch the end credits, go watch them! 😊 They show some if what happened during the first time of humans being back on earth, and they are just really cute 😍 Great reaction as always 😁
Wall-E is voiced by Ben Burtt, the lead sound designer on the original 6 Star Wars. Any iconic sound effect you think of from those movies, that was Ben. I also find it funny in this movie that the one film that seems to survive is Hello Dolly, one of the most expensive flops in film history that not only killed the "Roadshow" presentation format but severely crippled Movie Musucals as a bankable genre.
7:17 Run! The humans are coming! Kkkk I'm sorry, Wall-E just always fills me with a quiet sense of horror at the scenery of all the mountains of trash, and the way you said "humans are coming" was perfect.
This movie made us Cry about two robots and a Cockroach, while teaching us a lesson in Contamination, Trash, politics, etc, this movie is just amazing.
This movie came out the same year as THE DARK KNIGHT. Most thinking people wanted both to be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. Because of genre bias neither of them were. The Academy embarrassed themselves so severely that they eventually changed their own rules to have 10 Best Picture nominees. Because the old fogies in the Academy insisted they couldn't pick ten movies a year they came up with a convoluted way of having voting that gave them a random number of nominees for BP depending on how many votes the movies got. It resulted in even crappier Best Picture winners. I do believe that this year they are going back to a solid ten nominees. This was a masterpiece. It's a shame we didn't take the lesson. Ten years on and we spent a whole year surviving instead of living. There is a live action movie from the 70s that was a lot like this called SILENT RUNNING.
WALL-E must be one of the most gentle & innocent & kindest characters ever put to film, regardless of genre. He's not a child, he is not an adult. And yet he is both, at heart. A total expert at what he knows & can do but completely oblivious to everything else. His true greatness is his curiosity. That's why he was the last remaining robot of his kind, he developed an actual AI. Damn lucky that it was an AI with such a good soul. What I also love so much about this film that, with the exception of AUTO & his little helper, every single being, robot as human, that encounters WALL-E changes during the course of the story. They all wake up, they all become more than their original directive & they take their eyes off their screens. The curiosity of WALL-E spreads as a positive force to everybody. One of my favorite examples is the secretary bot below the captain's cabin that realizes that it can wave its one & only limb just because WALL-E waves hello to it as he passes. This story is so much about freedom. Humans & robots don't realize they are all slaves. All they needed to do to free themselves was to look up, to jump off the light trails on the floors. WALL-E is also a magnificent sci-fi movie! And its creators paid so much homage to all time sci-fi classics. Most certainly to 2001 but also to Alien. The computer voice on the Axiom is, after all, Sigourney Weaver herself! This is my absolute fav animated film ever! It makes me laugh, it makes me think, it makes me cry. And it's also so simple. A movie everyone should watch.
Auto may have been the "villain" of the movie but he wasn't evil. Auto was just following his directive, which came from the last president of Buy'N'Large. The President had more authority than the captain, so that's who's order he was going to follow. As far as he was concerned, his last order was to stay away from Earth so that's what he was doing. WALL-E is short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-class. Eve stands for Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator.
That means it hit too close to home and made him feel guilty about how he was living. I know it did for me, made me pay attention and take care of things a lot more.
@@ADDButterfly I think you're missing my point... He hated it because it speaks the truth about our society as humans and the state of our planet and how thanks to pollution, litter, and humans not caring for the planet in ways we should how we are wrecking it and turning it potentially into a wasteland as shown in the movie. Most people don't bother to really try to take care of the planet and this movie bothers them because it points out the raw truth that they don't want to know or believe. And if it's not for that reason then I guess your father is just an unemotional, narcissistic douche bag who only thinks of himself. Especially because "he was annoyed with the topics it was bringing up." as you said, people are only bothered by things that they feel guilty about because they do them. Such an amazing movie most people nowadays forgot about or haven't seen. The message about how Earth is going to end up like how it is in the movie; its something people acknowledge but still to this day no major change has happened. The pandemic you saw the oxygen levels rise and the air feeling more easier to breath, nature and animals coming out. But now that it's coming to a so called end, cars and many factories will start again and continue to destroy the earth

The scene where Wall-e and Eve fly around the ship made me instantly fall in love with the movie when I first saw it. The music and the way they fly around like they're flying round the ship like they're dancing in space is so beautiful.

If he knew what was coming that day he would have ❤️
Can I heart this comment? LOL
beautiful
The original ending was a lot darker: the characters that Wall E meets were aliens, but in a spoof of Planet Of The Apes, the aliens, whom look giant bowls of Jelly, are actually humans, having mutated by 700 years due to radiation exposure in space. The aliens find the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor, resembling what they once were.
...Holy crap, that ending's so much more interesting. I love the original but WOW.
That looks dumb lol
That’s not the original ending, it’s the ending they considered during the writing stages. And they were just gong to be aliens. It was abandoned as an idea early on, not only because it’s really stupid, but there’s nowhere for the story to go. Unless you’re interested in Pixar’s writing process, it holds no other value as a fun fact.
@@chrissmith6097 As someone interested in Pixar's writing process, I can confirm: that doesn't seem helpful outside that specific field of knowledge lol
Feels a lot more realistic
I can’t believe I didn’t enjoy this movie when I was younger! It’s not my favorite Pixar movie now, but I love it way more compared to when I was a kid! 🥰
That was me with Ratatouille. 2000s decade Pixar man, so much quality stuff. Lol
I always loved the tiny detail of Wall-E calling her Eva simply because he's unable to pronounce Eve, and can only say the sounds 'eev' and 'va'
Same here. WALL-E has a nickname for her that only he calls her by, which adds to the cuteness.
If someone doesn't cry during this, they are not human. I sob every time.
especially where WALL-E almost died, then EVE's rush to repair him, and his brief lost of memory and personality before EVE gave him a kiss that re-sparked his consciousness
(My chest can’t NOT drop when the machine crashes down on him owww-)
The humanity of these machines is so damn immersive~

One of Pixar's Best! Probably one of my favourites up there with Ratatouliee and Incredibles
This movie is easily one of the best animated movies to come out in the past couple decades. So great!
Such few words are spoken, yet it is one of the more emotional Pixar movies I’ve seen.
I saw this movie when it came out and it was so much more impactful than I expected. It's yet another testament to how you don't actually need dialogue to make a film.
The old film WALLE watches is called Hello Dolly, and was an old musical about a matchmaker.
I highly recommend THE NEVERENDING STORY!
Yes!!!!!
Oh gosh, do you wanna destroy this poor man!?!?! 😂
It's not as long as it sounds.
ARTAX!!!!
I had a feeling that you would love this one! 😁
A heads up: if you didn't watch the end credits, go watch them! 😊
They show some if what happened during the first time of humans being back on earth, and they are just really cute 😍
Great reaction as always 😁
Thanks for letting me know!
So basically Wall-E and R2-D2 have the same “voice actor”? That’s AMAZING 😍
@@amy_grace Yup. That is right.
Wall-E was based on E.T. whereas EVE was meant to represent a Mac computer
I totally see it now, WALL-E is E.T. if he was a robot.
Such a great movie! Glad you’re feeling better and finally got to this one
21:17 John is his real name. His voice actor is John Ratzenberger. He's in nearly every Pixar movie. He's Hamm in the Toy Story movies, for instance.
Cliff Clavin from Cheers.
In the end credits they show how earth is rebuilt. You should have watched through those as well.
Silent Running is one of my all time favorite older sci-fi movies. I would recommend it.
If You like WALL-E You have to watch "Short Circuit"(1986)!
Wall-E's 'dad' is actually Johnny 5 from "Short Circuit"
That's my theory!
WALL-E was indeed inspired by Johnny 5 from SHORT CIRCUIT, especially the eye pieces. Well-spotted!
I love this movie 😍
Auto may have been the "villain" of the movie but he wasn't evil. Auto was just following his directive, which came from the last president of Buy'N'Large. The President had more authority than the captain, so that's who's order he was going to follow. As far as he was concerned, his last order was to stay away from Earth so that's what he was doing.
WALL-E is short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-class. Eve stands for Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator.
My dad HATED this movie. We saw it in theaters together and I cried, but he was annoyed with the topics it was bringing up.
That means it hit too close to home and made him feel guilty about how he was living. I know it did for me, made me pay attention and take care of things a lot more.
@@killinglonliness88 Nope. He was healthy and worked outside everyday and still walked 5 miles every morning.
I guess not wanting to hear the truth runs in the family it seems.
@@killinglonliness88 Not everything is about guilt if they don't like something. And I did hear you, but you are wrong in this case. My dad just wanted to enjoy a movie and forget about the world. And he is unemotional, because he is dead. So think before you speak about people you don't know.
But now that it's coming to a so called end, cars and many factories will start again and continue to destroy the earth
the fact that this movie only has about 12 minutes of dialogue is absolutely amazing
This movie really does help make a case for "Kevin Malone's Linguistic Minimalism Theory:"
"Why use lot word when few word do trick?"

Neat fact the small robot Cozmo is the closest we have to that small janitor robot and it is cute and The scenes of the Earth recovering that appear during the credits were added after test audiences said that they didn't think the people on the spaceship would survive. Credit to TV Tropes. PS Happy you loved the film I thought it would be a silly film but then I watch it and was really surprised at hoe good it was.
I just love your reactions. Not only you point out things I never realized when I watched these kinds of films, but also the love and admiration you have for every aspect of each movie
Thanks so much so glad you like them!
Such an underrated movie .... Wall-E is really fantastic!!!
It is, in a weird sort of way, reminiscent of a Charlie Chaplin movie.
I never thought of that, but it total makes sense
YO
The director actually spent his lunch hours watching all of the films of Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton to draw inspiration for how to convey emotion without the "dialogue crutch."
Tbh when it comes to some views consistency is a lot less important than a familiar face they just like- your personality is great! I love watching movies with ya.
Woooo!!!! I gotta go get something done real quick but after that, WALL-E TIME!!! 😆
No problem haha take your time😂
One of my childhood favorites, if you don’t get emotional watching this something Is wrong.
I'd only seen this once before, but it is so beautiful. They did such a good job conveying emotions with few words.
It really is! Surprised me so much with how good of a story it was!
This movie is a masterpiece. Anyone who doubts it doesn't understand cinema
Im here to share all the tears I bawled when Wall-e is trying to hold the detector up and...
Anyways this is a very beautiful movie, I always enjoy it so much, thanks for sharing this reaction!
6:12 when I went to see this in theaters, every adult in the theater started laughing at this scene.
I love your reactions, because you are full of emotions . Can I recommend for you "Batteries not included" /1987/ and "Short circuit" /1986/ or Mannequin /1987/?
Batteries not included is an under appreciated classic
Agree on all 3.
WallE actually is saying things not just beeping
this was probably my favourite childhood movie :)
I remember seeing this in theatres as a kid and sobbing. Like I was not prepared for the emotional roller coaster that you go on with these robots that really don’t even talk. They were able to convey just so much emotion!! I love Wall-E and Eve and the cockroach… they just did such a great job at showing characters emotions and stories without words and that always stuck with me
Best Pixar movie ever. Also, make sure you watch the short BURN-E, it's hilarious and cute.
WALL-E is without a doubt one of the best movies pixar has made
I get so emotional when it comes to Wall-E. He's just so adorable! Him aside, I love this movie and the message and music. So beautiful.
The movie Wall - E is watching is called Hello Dolly.
I really love this film, just so well done considering how silent characters are for the most part! Wall-e being so expressive and relatable despite being a mostly silent and expressionless robot ><
I'd also recommend watching "Burn-E" in the extra's if you have it on disc, its a little side story from the perspective of another robot and is quite funny.
Pans labrynth is a great film but definitely a difficult one to place, I hope you enjoy it even if its not really one I can see you wanting to rewatch (its a bit schindlers list like in that regard)
If you like the song that kept playing throughout the movie, then I highly recommend watching the musical that it's from: Hello Dolly! It''s such an amazing musical and is one of my absolute favorites of all time.
1:26 Idk why but your reaction is so funny to me... It's priceless🤣😂💯
37:51 That music is from 2001: A Space Odyssey, the greatest sci-fi movie of all time! :)
WALL-E is such a fun movie from my childhood. I hope you enjoyed it.
Would love to see you watch Quest for Camelot or Atlantis The Lost Empire. Both are very under rated movies but have great comedy and story lines
The scene where Wall-e and Eve fly around the ship made me instantly fall in love with the movie when I first saw it. The music and the way they fly around like they're flying round the ship like they're dancing in space is so beautiful.
The message in this movie is so great and important especially now
The clip is from “hello dolly” with Barbara Streisand and Walter Matthau. Though it’s the supporting cast shown on screen.
I Can't watch these films without a mournful sigh of the forgotten 1986 film... Short Circuit because it is the origin of all endearing robot faces and personalities in all the loveable robot movies. and Short Circuit gets no credit and poor Johnny is kicked to the curb unmentioned and lonely.
6:11 WALL-E putting the bra on his face is one of the cutest moments I’ve ever seen in an animated movie. Also, WALL-E is one of the cutest animated movie characters ever.
I love your reactions. I recommend you “cinema paradiso”, it has one of the most beautiful endings in the history of cinema
SpongeBob- Robots can't love
This movie- Are you sure about that
This movie is starting to grow on me I liked it before but now I have a stronger likening for this movie 👍 prob cus I like story’s about robots sci fi post apocalyptic wasteland stuff like that and of course the relationship between wall E and eve just makes me smile like a dope and omg nick is such a cinnamon roll he seems like such a nice guy to chill and watch movies with
The voice of the Axiom is Sygorny Weaver
i feel like this movie will continue to be loved by people decades, maybe even centuries into the future.
The story, soundtrack, and visuals are always beautiful!! So glad you got to see it!
Also if you are curious on that song from the live action movie they showed, it's from a movie called "Hello Dolly!"
If you ever wanted to, I'd say check it out as it's a fun musical.
40:04 His face when Wall-E didn’t remember Eve made me laugh _so_ hard 😂😂
I make the same face in that moment.
That scene of Eve and Wall.E flying in space is a million times better when experienced during the World Of Color show in California Adventure...IVE SEEN GROWN MEN CRY during that part!😄🤣
I always get teary eyed in the beginning when he's watching Hello Dolly and he does the hand holding thing. You don't need words to tell how he's feeling
I think this might be my favorite Pixar film. No film of theirs has resonated and inspired me as much
I remember watching wall e in cinemas as a kid
Wall-e is a great movie, I'm glad you enjoyed it! If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend Kung Fu Panda. It's probably my favorite animated film of all time.
I really hope you watched the full credits! Showed how they evolved and progressed after coming back to earth. One of my favourite parts!
Have you ever seen Fantasia 1940? It's a real treat if you love animation.
This is such an amazing movie. Beautiful. This movie actually took a lot of heat because of its "unrealistic" portrayal of humans. But for me it was all about the robots. Wall-E will always remind me of Johnny 5 from Short Circut. Which was also a good movie.
This is a sad depiction of our society...great love story, but sad that we are in a trance
