  • This is the PaperLike, not only a screen protectors but also make it feel like you are writing on paper! Honestly, I didnt think it was going to be such a big difference. I WAS WRONG, it honestly blew me away! Its an iPad Pro must have. It feels just like paper. The increased friction really makes you have amazing control with the Apple Pencil, helps with the motion and gives the iPad Pro an entirely new feel. I would say its one of the best iPad Pro accessories, hands down.
    Thanks again to PaperLike for sending out a sample.

      +Abhishek Basavaraj Apple Pencil tips are replaceable for pretty cheap; you just screw them off and attach a new one. I suspect it will eventually wear down the tip, perhaps a little quicker than without a screen protector, but you should be fine... Just replace it every year or so, whenever you feel like the tip needs replacing

      Thank you, I bought one thru your link. I always felt it was too smooth. By the way, what note app do you use and why? I’ve tried OneNote which I feel it’s terrible and apple notes just doesn’t feel like notebook, it feels like a random notes and drawing space.

    There is nothing harder to accomplish in the entire world than trying to put any type of screen protector etc on a screen. An iPad screen? That is an epic joke. I would rather do open heart surgery on a battle field with bullets flying by my head than attempt this nightmare. That is all.

    Best thing about the ipad pro is the screen. Putting a matte screen protector over makes everything blurry. I put one on and ripped it off an hour later. I couldn't stand compromising my screen even if it made drawing much better. Yes, I liked the friction but hated looking at my screen. Not worth the trade off. I'm still looking for a friction screen protector that is clear and crisp and doesn't make my screen blurry.

    • @itscloudyinside

      Thanh Tran were you using paperlike or a generic matte screen protector? I was thinking of attaching a matte sp because I didn’t like the feel of writing on glass when I tested it out in the store. But I also know that matte sp is going to compromise the sharpness of the display too.

    Can you try reading white text on black background? I accidentally found on Mipad in the store (which had the factory matte screen protector on ) reading white text on black background was almost paperlike. Causing no strain on the eye. But i haven't got one to try, and I'm not sure if the matte screen protectors and the screens are the same.

    Don't buy it its a huge waste of money (i bought and tried it). Yes it feels slightly better to write with this screen protector but the amount of alterations it does to your display is too much. It makes your display look very grainy. Honestly one of the reason why i like my ipad is how good movies look on it but after using this screen protector it looks like a tv from the 90's. And the packaging is pathetic, typical Kickstarter crap, its not protected at all against bends, it comes in a plastic bag ffs in a hard-ish carton. One of the screen protector came completely bent and unusable. I peeled it off immediately after installing it.

    Here is some honest review of paperlike, that i just got from this afternoon:
    first of all the Conclusion(if you are too lazy to read): DO NOT BUY IT!
    why?
    1. THE NOISE RATIO: after i lay the screenprotector on my screen, it immediately reminds me the first screen protector on my ipod 4, that i approched in 2007!Before i bought your product, i have hear that, the noise ration on this screen protector may cause some issues. But i thought after 11 years of technical improvement, this may have changed a lot. I was certainly worry about that. This product look and feel exactly the same like the sreenprotector that i bought 10 years before!
    I am a note 9 user. after i use this screenprotector. It makes me feel like that, i bought some cheap device in 2005. The screen looked horrable.
    2.THE FINGERPRINT: Yes it surely doesn't caught your fingerprint, but i have a little bit sweat on my hand, this will certainly get on my screen. And this screen protector makes me even work even harder to get it clean again. and if you dont do this. it will look very dirty.
    3.THE Cratch: After few use of my apple pencil, i can see some scratchs on it. i am not very sure how this is supposed to satisfied me for 1 year of using.
    SO, if you doesnt care the bad screen, the dirty screen, the cratchs and the 40$, you SHOULD definitely get one for yourself.

    I've used matte Tech Armor, PaperLike and Geevon "paper like" screen protectors. Yes, they do make a difference. Yes, the increased friction is better, but none of them are like writing on paper. Product developers need to stop making this claim. Apple or 3rd parties just need to develop different textured nibs.

    • @AtomekKotalke

      Different texture nibs are actually great idea. Apple take notes. 👌

    • @vonnyrotten

      What this review doesn’t tell u is the detrimental effect of this screen protector. Yes it has more tooth than traditional screen protector, but it also gives off a highly noticeable vertical striped rainbow effect due to the added texture. Your picture qualities will be ruined, and If you are looking at this for drawing, it’s a big no no. For note taking it’s ok, but drawing it’s just unacceptable. I was a backer of this startup.

    • @Rick-kb1wv
      @Rick-kb1wv 6 років тому +4

      Gary Hall I use it “semi-professionally “ for graphic art and some paintings. True, it does take away from the clarity of the piece, but as a professional, I am used to that and know what my result will be when it is finished and viewed on a clear screen.
      If you need clarity while making your work, then not recommend.
      Just saying that it works great for me. You opinion is welcome as well. This is not a debate, just opinion.

    - but in this case, the spit will cost ya!
    😉
    When it comes to finding less expensive OR free (DIY) alternatives, I’m ALWAYS up for a challenge - so I’m REALLY REALLY CURIOUS to see if I can mimic this affect by dulling a dollar-store screen protector with swipe or rub of acetone (or perhaps a diluted acetone first?) 🤔 If anything, I’m certainly curious! 😉

    Can anyone tell me how I can find something to reduce the noise of that clicking sound when the Apple Pencil hits the glass when ur writing on the iPad? I’m the only person in my class that uses an iPad to take notes & it gets awkward when the classroom gets quiet & a little annoying after a while when everyone can hear the sound of me taking notes lol

    Probably a good product and workaround solution, not to mention the side effect of protection. However, I really would like to see Apple fix the issue with an improved Pencil 2 - with a better nib material! Even different nibs and shapes would be awesome. (I love the felt nibs on my old wacom tablet!)

    I have this and I am an artist. No, it’s NOT the same as a regular matte protector. It is EXACTLY like using paper and pencil. Yes, a matte protector does help, but this is different. I have never used a protector like this and I can’t recommend it enough for artists or avid note takers.
    If you are a serious artist, it is an essential in my opinion and worth the extra $.

    Hi Mark, great video, thnx just a quick question: I mainly use the ipad for editing photos and videos, does paperlike change the colours of the screen a lot?

  • @oimpe
    @oimpe 6 років тому

    just got my paperlike screen protector and I have to agree. It really changes things when writing. Your review is spot on. my only concern now is I dont have a tempered glass protector on my device, and I have dropped it before, but I'm going with it. I have a wacom 27" cintiq and this screen protector mimics the feel closely.

    Thanks for posting this man, I just bought an IPad Pro 10.5 two days ago. I did get the keyboard case and currently I’m looking for a screen protector. I have to say the one you are showing in tempting but there is a little problem with me, I’M A DROPER!!! ( Yes I said it) so, with that being said, I believe if you want to protect your investment and play safe, the best choice is a Glass Screen protector. What do you think?

    The only thing that's kept me from truly taking advantage of the Ipad Pro's note taking/writing capability has been the lack of friction on the surface of the Ipad. I purchased a glass screen protector and it made this even more difficult. I'm looking forward to using it full time. Personally I've always liked matte finishes on my screens anyway so this is a plus. Thanks for the video!

    Can you not keep your palm on the iPad and write?? coz on paper we usually put our palm and then write something .
    There is pressure also that we apply on normal paper so can we apply pressure on this i pad because you are not even putting your hand like we usually do on a normal paper.
    Please answer these important questions.
    Regards

    Unfortunately I was very disappointed with Paperlike. Mine felt just like the standard non reflective cover I bought on eBay for a fraction of the price. I eventually found one from a Japanese seller that REALLY feels like paper and was a breeze to a[ply with no dust particles being attracted to the sticky part.

    I wrote to Apple when the first iPad came out, asking for something like this.
    I even wrote to cover / case manufactures but probably they all thought I was crazy.
    Finally someone had the bright idea to actually do it.
    It makes sense to have something that mimics the feel of drawing on paper because drawing on glass sucks.

      Wait for the new one to be released if you can. Either way you can't go wrong. New technology might be irresistible but also usually drives the price of older perfectly good devices down.

    • @mauibuilder1239
      @mauibuilder1239 6 років тому +1

      Yes but you can pick up refurbished one year old models for significant savings depending on features and if you're into that. That said....I had to buy the latest and greatest last year lol.

      True. But this one will be huge.
      I once made a mistake to buy a MacBook pro a month before they launched the newer Unibody ones. Needless to say. That will never happen to me again. That was horror. Some upgrades are too big to neglect.

      A-dutch-Z If the new model is only a month or so away then there’s no reason to buy the older model unless you can’t afford the latest one. I bought the 10.5 iPad Pro a couple months back for a great price at Best Buy. I didn’t want to wait 8 months for what the new iPad Pro might feature. I know I’ll be jealous when it comes out but oh well.
