Hey, thanks for all these ideas! Lots of banana trees on my block. I chop them down cos new ones are coming up all the time and just let them lay where they fall; thought I was being lazy - and I’m too old to care what the neighbours think - but it’s surprising how quickly the banana trees break down. Some of the clips you’ve shown it’s a much more organised affair, so I’ll strive for that in the future :-) I’ve starting planting vetiver grass as another living, and free, mulch and it looks pretty too - and lemongrass. I’m in subtropical Queensland so they both do well here. Getting mulch is a bit of a problem on the islands, so bananas are first rate for that. Thanks again for your video and looking forward to seeing more :-))
They say soils in Nauru island is destroyed. You take trees like leucaena - River tamarind, sweet potato and grow those plants/tree with a handful of the soil from under the mulch from here and you have all the bacteria you need to create soil in the dry depleted tropical island.
Mihi ana ki a koe bro, mahi tika ana, awesome video and awesome kōrero brother, thank you. Soil is looking amazing too, and the plants look like they're loving it. Kei hea koe bro, where are you based?
Inspiring example of natural ways of producing own food. I am going to follow your method of using palm fronts as mulch for taro, cheers for sharing.

Thanks for the message, Yea bananas are awesome fast growing and plentiful source of mulch, good for sheltering seedlings, and worms like them too.
