- Scott Lanson Post as Excellent documentary in ' That It Does Get Better ' for the GLBT ( gay, lesbian, BiSexual and Transgender people ) in which gives hope for those young adolescence that feel yet bullied or put down for who they are. I have lived in San Fransico and the attitude there is really remarkable. For years there now, allowing experiences in freedom to live your life as who you are and also to be protected under the law in the process. Excellent Documentary. Enjoy, Scott Lanson
It is a big deal that the policemen are braving themselves to be on a camera. Kudos to them.
THANKS TO ALL FOR SHARING!!
As an in the closet lesbian who's only out to a few friends this actually brought me to tears, I really needed this so thank you to these people in this video. It means a lot to me. 😊😊😊😊
WOW thanks to all the SF Police officers that made this video, it brought tears to my eyes, THANK YOU and IT DOES GET BETTER
Thanks for that smile in my face guys :) and for those tears of joy too
This means so much to me. I am a senior in High School right now and I'm a lesbian. I also want to be a police officer. I typically don't cry much, but this video made me cry because it just sends such a great message. Hearing these officers speak these kind words of support is just so wonderful. Thank you so much!
Mattea Williams You hideous thing ! Repent you GI Joe boxer short stone butch !
my eyes filled with tears....
i want you guys to be my friend ... feeling very L O N E L Y
+Vicky S Sorry to hear that buddy! Go out and meet new people, don´t be afraid of anything or anyone, you will find the right people at the right moment :D
As a 66 yo gay man I wish information like this had been available when I was a teen. Such beautiful people with a beautiful message. But in 2022 we are under attack. We ALL need to VOTE. Love is love and I love all of you! Thanks for the important messages!
I'm a Canadian living in Toronto and I've been out for 19 years. I want to thank the San Fran Police Dep't for taking the time to put this important video together and posting it for people in your city and around the world to see.
It is inspiring.
It is affirming.
It is reassuring.
Above all, it reinforces the message: it gets better.
As an out and pround gay man I know it does. I remember the horrible angst of the closet. And it does get better!!!! :)))))))
Thank you for doing this! It’s so important to get that message out.
As a 19 year old bisexual person, I can't imagine being in my position before people invented and perfected the internet. UA-cam videos like this one have helped me out so much over the course of my coming out. I just sit and watch these videos to clear my mind, and build courage.
I am thankful that I have been able to be a big part in the lives of my niece & nephew , that they see me as a role model, and that I have helped them become confident adults. Had I ended it all, I wouldn't have been able to be a mentor to my Gay nephew. Life has its ups & downs, but it does get so much
This was wonderful. It brought tears of joy to my eyes. Thank you.
This is just awesome!!!..I hope one day we understand each other and accept what we can not understand!..I salute this man and women..I'm proud of being a gay man!!..and I will never be ashamed of that..✌️👍👊
what an inspiration, I'm glad these officers are here and I wish I could know more people like them.
'It gets better..' did two years in College, now two more as an Exchange students for my post-grad and on to become a Prof. of Linguistics ... don't ever think for a second these message doesn't have a value, look where it took me!! IT DOES GET BETTER!! :')
Several of these guys can arrest me any time they like.
Hahaha...good one!
Thanks you Rex, With tears in my eyes, Hugs
We have the power to overcome unimaginable obstacles. I was molested by an adult one day, when I was 5, & I grew up in a family where my parents & siblings had/have autism & the cognitive issues that often accompany it. It took me till my early 30s to overcome my childhood, but its soo much worth it. I have family, friends, & coworkers who except & support me.
Such a wonderful video! Thank you for sharing!
When I was 17 I realized I was gay. I thought I was better off dead I almost succeeded at it. Today I'm 50, happily married have a great job and life. IT DOES GET BETTER!
TheLongjohntim This comment made me SO fucking happy!! I'm glad that you're alive my friend. May happiness continue to follow you❤
This is amazing, it made that sick feeling at the bottom of my heart, disappear. I am, who I am.
So proud of all of you for something that should be so simple! Stay safe!
@TrailerParkRex
Ciao Miei Cari Amici! (Hello My Dear Friends)
Ciao Bello!
I must first thank you Rex, for uploading this great spot, from our Brothers and Sisters in the "San Francisco Police Force"! It beautifully confirms for this Middle Aged "Bay Area" Man, who was at one time very long ago, the young lover of Bobby Griffith (Prayers for Bobby), that the World has indeed changed, and for the better!
"I think I knew that...." Yay Mum... Had a good proud cry. Thank you guys&gals...
I'm not gay but I love these videos. They're so real and so meaningful and I'm glad that there is something so positive out there for GLBT people. Nobody should have to live in shame, thinking that they're worthless or unnatural. Everybody has the right to feel good about themselves, be who they really are and enjoy life to the fullest.
Thank You for making this
Absolutely amazing. Amazing. Thank you so much SFPD. The lines that made me cry the most was "it gets better until then i will protect you and I will listen" and "call the police if you have too" amazing. :-)
THANKS TO ALL FOR SHARING!!!
Your video is great. As officers it shows your commitment to service by stepping up and telling all of us your stories. I really admire you guys for doing what you do and sharing your stories. I hope your video reaches many people and keeps people from hurting themselves.
Wow, this is such good shit! Makes me really wanna move to San Fransisco for a while.
I am gay, and when I was a teenager, messages like this were the only thing that made me feel like anyone would accept me. I knew about the ItGetsBetter project, but this is the first video I've actually seen. It's very comforting that gay teenagers now will have more to convince them to accept themselves than I and others did. I think these aren't just for gay kids, but society as well. Things ARE getting better.
Handsome and beautiful people all.
bless all of you thanks
BEST ONE YET!
I love it!! Thanks for the video!!
This was a brilliant video. nice job. really make me feel better about myself.
This made me feel safer when visiting SF.
i appreciate this video. and i know the young that r struggling might not act out in a moment of crisis. if u save one of us then u have succeeded. i bet u have. thank u guys
]
Thank you so much! You know I never thought we would have openly gay "officers" this just made my day my life! To be able to talk to one of you would be amazing!!! Please contact me just one of you? Because I know it does get better now and I appreciate everything you all have done to show your not embarrassed or ashamed! I'm Alyc Scripter:) I'm gay and I am proud! Thank you again add me on Facebook or just call me:)
I love San Francisco, I really want to be there. I will be there. I will!
Thank you so much and your right and it does get better
And if anyone has a problem with it, that's his problem, not mine. It's your life and you will have so much more to live for. So don't let anyone take your future away from you. Be strong and remember that your friends and family love you.
It's saddening to see so many hateful messages on such an inspirational video about how things gets better.
thanks for this great video.
I'm thank you for all the policeman and policewoman to save us for what we do.😔😔😥😢
I never said I wanted to, but those who can should. Far too many people now days sit back and let 'some one else take care of it'.
Thank-you
awesome
I think its great that you all can tell your stories. I am not a great example of someone who has had the life challenges so I don't know what its like to feel like these people do because I am not gay but I have friends that are and all you can do is be supportive and let them know that they have someone that they can talk to. Everyone has there different opinions but its not a reason to make them feel like its not okay. It's there life not yours.
That should end with: so much better than you can imagine.
this is a great video and thank you for the help your doing maybe we can impact someones life and it will be for good and with all the suport and it gets better videos and your support :) you guys of the SFPD are amazing!
Wow. I think this is really powerful
I does get better Love love the video thanks
yo this made me cry :)...i remember wen i told my mom . i was so scared but she acccepted me for me :)
I think the mantra should be “it can get better” rather than it does only because the word does assumes that it will and we don’t know what each person is going through and we don’t know for sure that it will get better. So it can seems more apropos.
Amazing video, you are true heroes :)
Internet bullying is most cowardly.
fantastic
I do have to thank the police, I used to have anxiety issues with authority figures, like the police. However, seeing the police rush into the twin towers on 9/11, along with some other events helped me address my anxiety and my childhood, when enabled me go except being gay. I no longer associate my feelings with being like the predator who abused me, I no longer feel the weight of guilt & shame. I like many others faced depression & suicidal thoughts, & I'm thankful for not ending it all.
just AMAZING :)
absolutely!
Bravo SFPD!!!
Thank you to those brave men and women. Hate is illogical, it has no basis. Prejudice is illogical and has no basis. The Bible cannot be used to denigrate you. Those who do so are ignorant of the true meaning of the Bible. No matter what anyone may cite, it is a book that has changed throughout the centuries and the meanings then are not the meanings now. You have sacred value and are a child of God, same as they are.
whats up with the guys moustache at 1:38 ???? LOL
Houston!
I love this video. Both the boys and girls are cute
@TrailerParkRex
That young "Angst Ridden" folks coping with all the "Nonsense" that incredibly enough still accompanies the "Coming Out" process, could run across this! It's "Stunning" Rex, and thank you ever so much "Il Mio Amico Dolce" , or "My Sweet Friend!
Ti Amo Molto Per Questo! (I F**king Luvs Ya Lots For This)
Blaine
"Hi, my name is Greg Suhr and I'm the Chief of Police for the San Francisco Police Department." Yeah, in a place like S.F. you sure better be LGBTQ friendly.
You can say all the negative things you want haters but these people will ignore it and protect you cause that's what heroes do. You think superman was always liked? Nope. But he couldn't let that stop him. I'm gay and happy and i will continue to kill with kindness and love.
The saddest thing is, some gay folks let the pressure from the hateful-faithful fill them full of guilt & shame, to the point the hide back in the closet &, they even will claim to have been healed from being gay. Of course, they will say they still experience same sex attractions, but they choose not to act upon it. That is, if they are honest with themselves. Well, a priest gay or strait can choose to be celibate, still doesn't change whether the priest is gay or strait.
5:48 she is cute and just made me smile :)
Proof being, I don't see the people who try & rehabilitate drug users hanging out in crack houses, in neighborhoods where drugs are prevalent, etc. Of course not, these people want to help people, not become addicts themselves, or become an addict again. The other reason is, it really feeds the ego to be able to, in their minds, come from a superior position & declare what is & what is not good & evil. They are drunk, not on the power of God, but on the power they assign themselves in his name.
What’s so sad is over the years, gay people have felt like who they are is something so wrong because that’s how humans- that’s how other human beings on this planet- have made them feel. Throughout the years, these people were convinced that there was something wrong and disgusting about them because other people have made them feel that way. That’s what’s so heartbreaking about it. It never had to be that way. It never should have been that way and it still shouldn’t be that way. People are who they are.
wow, so many handsome manly gay men here, woooof i wish they lived near me
Love the bald guy from minut 5. uf!
One does not have to be a God figure to know that your comment was inappropriate. Also, no, I'm "some sort of religious nut", however I am bisexual and believe that I speak for many others in saying that your comment was highly offensive.
no if anything they make the uniform better
God's Word is comprised of 66 Books written over a period of 1,500 years by over 40 authors from all walks of life, It was written in three languages on three continents, and it covers hundreds of subjects. Yet, it fits together into a cohesive story with an appropriate beginning, a logical ending, a central character, and a consistent theme. How does one begin to explain such historical, structural, prophetic, doctrinal, and spiritual harmony apart from the fact that its real author was Divine?
If you are bullied or just feel alone, really just go online and try to reach for help. It takes a lot of courage to ask for help, so don't be ashamed of that. There are many of us who went through the same thing and I can tell you IT DOES GET BETTER. When I was 16 I tried to kill myself with some pills. After ten years I'm celebrating 6 years anniversary with my boyfriend this weekend, we have a dog and I have great job at our biggest (Czech Republic) university. Everyone knows it about me
I'm gonna call the police...
uh YES, they are
It actually doesn't. Facing reality it something we tend to fear and hide from. I am sorry to say this, but some people are not excepting of gay and lesbians. Some things are better left unsaid. I am speaking from my prospective.
Why do you want to decide what is acceptable?
it's okay with me if your gay...just make sure you come over and we can talk about it maybe Netflix?? chill?
SFPD has homosexuals on the force....shocking!
J S R Lasher its socking because them beat and harass people for no reason, or for smoking weed, for being homeless and a bunch of other fucked up reasons.
+Juan Guy the still have LGBTQpobics people like you... Shocking!
Softball is the root of all gayness 🤣
I like them
Come out come out BLACK COPS DO NOT BE AFFRAID , THIS IS A GOOD THING FOR ALL COLORS..........................
What honestly gives you the right to ask a question like that? It's completely unacceptable and unnecessary.
Dang. I want a hot cop to frisk me!
Takes a big man to reply with an insult, because he can't come up with a true response. Just shows how hateful the faithful are, when they resort to using derogatory words towards those who's views they appose. They do the same when they declare those they appose will burn in hell, that the devil is controlling them, etc. Its all rhetoric meant to rial people's emotions, but it still doesn't make their point of view any truer.
You were delusional (and still are) but never like me. Jesus opened my eyes years ago. You can't answer what I wrote because NO other book in the History of the world has had the impact that God's Word has and the evidence for Divine Authorship is overwhelming!
Is the whole department gay?
koolies
Not appropriate but that officer is hot
2:29 HOT!
:')
SO i should try heroin by your words? So i can feel good about myself?
7:59 you are cute !!!
I enjoy how you talk about people cherry picking verses and twist them to the needs they have. Then you do the same thing. Anyone that has studied the Bible knows you can't take just one verse and claim it says something. In your case the judgement isn't what you claim it to be. Try using your brain for once. Referring back to His healing of the paralyzed man on the Sabbath (John 5:1-16) Jesus says, “I did one work, and you all marvel. (The rest to follow)
I love these hateful-faithful folks, they are soo discussed by homosexuality, yet they spend their time in gay forums, youtube channels, etc, where they will inevitably read about gay relationships, gay sex, etc, all of which you would think they would want to avoid hearing about. Me thinks they do protest too much, lol. I think they are in the closet &, they come to these forums, channels, etc, to be exposed to that which they won't freely allow themselves, under the guise of trying to save us
