People don't stick the nozzle all the way into the crack, they don't push it down, they don't smooth it with a spoon....then they leave the product a 1 star review. I just did this same thing but with my asphalt driveway. I used the rod backers, shoved them down as far as I could do with a putty knife, then only cut off the very end of the nozzle of the sealant. That way I could get the nozzle all the way down in the crack and inject a slim stream, filling every crevice. I did this along all of the cracks and didn't try and do everything in 1 shot. I just did 1 "lift" , pushed it down with a small tool I have. Let it cure a few days, then came back and did the final lift. Some areas required a 3rd lift but they were few. The most important step is the first step - clean, rod backer, push down first application. Then everything else will work perfectly. It's amazon products like this exist. Awesome, very concise video. The only question i have is that if you use something like quickrete self levelling compound, would you still need to scrape off or just wait it to self level and dry off for 24 hours before topping it off again?
Thanks for the good suggestion mate. The question is, why the driveway cracks in the first place? My driveway has a brick stencil pattern and is cracked in three places, one running across the center (left to right), another crack 6 feet further towards the doors (right end is up, left end is down), and one from the front of the roller doors and straight down towards the street but stops near the second crack closest to the doors. I had asked the concreter to make it thick enough so that it doesn't crack and he said 6 inch thick would do. And because it is a surface stencil patters, he added metal strips as splitting points in or where the cracks had started to appear about 8 years ago, a method used to stop showing cracking point and give an even flat finish. The strips were inserted into the fresh concrete about half inch below, so that if ever the driveway would crack, it would crack straight and neatly at the splitting point. Instead, the cracks appeared like a flowing river (zig-zag) and gradually expanded to what they are now a quarter of an inch wide in the center and thinning to hair-like cracks at their ends. Could the concreter have used cheap concrete? But, still, I cannot understand why and how does a metal reinforced concrete driveway crack when it was laid on a 2-3 inch stone screening base? Should I have to break it down entirely and lay a newer foundation, or am I going to waste my money?
Hi, there are a lot of factors, the soil, the concrete mix, the depth and how the base was packed. Having more or deeper control joints can help direct any cracking. Most concrete will crack over time.

Hi very good video. I wondered if you could also do this for pointing a patio?
This is super cool, gonna have to try this!
Great info thanks.
What’s this method like compared to polymeric sand brushed in and sprayed with water?
Anyone?
Hi, this product is elastic and will flex. Polymeric sand is primarily designed to hold paver blocks together.

Fill a crack up to 3 inches wide, good to know

How has the repair held up over time? I saw some reviews on Amazon indicating that the product turned black after a winter.
Hi, it has held up well, but it has gotten darker over time.
After applying this to driveway. Can you resurface the driveway?
Hi, I would check the application directions on the product and see the recommended crack filler. You might want to keep it about 1/2 inch lower than the surface to have a thicker coat to prevent it from flexing.
Instead of sand when the crack is deeper than 2/3 inches and goes below the slab I used good old foam in the can you would use to seal cracks. Leaving about a inch for self leveling caulk . would this be okay?
Yes, expanding foam or foam backer rod works great. Expanding foam isn't as easy to control though.

You can try adding some gray sand to the top along with some beach sand to disguise the look of the caulking.
Nice tip.
Thanks for the Video. Is it ok the hit the crack with a screw driver then pressure wash the crack to make sure all debris is out? Thanks
Hi, that will work. Let the surface dry before applying.

That's a cool little blower. Have you used it to dry vehicles? If so, how does it do? The compact size looks like it could be great for touchless drying. Thanks for the video! 👍👌
Hi, I haven't tried that. I will give that tip to my son, he hand washes his car.

But with the spoon you just made an indent into your fix where water will stay... is that good??
Hi, the product is waterproof and the indentation protects it from hot tire traffic from cars and trucks.

Will this also work with different levels/heights of concrete? Part of my driveway is .25 to .5 lower than the adjoining section.
Hi, it worked well on a couple projects where we had the same problem. I would give the company a call and ask for technical help. I've found them to be very helpful. They might have a better product for your project.
Wow, a real Chicagoan.
Can you wires of some sort to reinforce bonding the ‘walls’
Thanks, your video is great! My driveway is much darker than the sidewalk, like a charcoal gray. Is there any way to match that so I don't end up with light colored patches?
Hi, you can get a concrete topping and put a a colorant into it. Here is one example www.sakrete.com/products/flo-coat-resurfacer

Is this material paintable? I need to do a two part epoxy on driveway. Thanks!
Hi, this product is designed to expand and contract. I would check what the epoxy manufacturer recommends to fill cracks, they may want a concrete based crack filler.
Excellent video. I'm going to use this technique to fix mine next season
Let me know how it goes.

doe this stuff dry soft to the touch or hard? I need to fill a 2 in crack and don't want my wife wheelchair tire to sink into it if it dries soft.
Hi, I would give the company a call, they are very helpful. I've never filled a 2 inch wide crack. In these cracks it gets very firm.
@@FIXITHomeImprovementChannel Thanks
I came here to figure out the best method for repairing my driveway at the earliest signs of cracking. However...I quickly realized I’m too immature for this type of tutorial. Still...good video and information. Giggity.
What's the best way to remove tire marks from my driveway and which sealer do you recommend to prevent this.
Hi, I would try a concrete cleaner like Simple Green. For a sealer, I've heard good things about Daich Garage and Driveway Sealer.

What to do if the crack is 1/8” or even thinner?
My Backer Rope floated Up! How do i cut that out??
Awesome video....THANKS!!!! I'll do mine very soon.
I'm wondering if I could do something similar to replace a chunk of driveway that cracked up from a damned tree root
Hi, you can mix up some concrete and fill in a section. Feel free to email a picture to fixitpodcast@gmail.com and I can see if I might have a suggestion.
I have tried this product but it has recessed into the crack in the driveway. It has been a week since I applied it. Can I add more on top of it
Hi, yes you can put Slab on top of Slab. Make sure its clean and dry. Keep it slightly under the height of the driveway so your car tires don't turn it black.

@@FIXITHomeImprovementChannel Thank you.
Any thoughts on leveling if on side of the crack is slightly higher? Is that where the breaking up of the concrete comes into play?
Hi, you could smooth the caulk up to the high side. If you are in a cold climate you are trying to keep water out of the crack for the freeze thaw cycle.
Drill a hole and pump in concrete it will raise it sometimes
Really helpful. Thank you!

Where did you purchase SLAB?
Hi, you should be able to pick it up at a local hardware store or home center. If they don't have it, they can order it for you.

I probably made a problem. What happens if you just filled the crack with self leveling sealant and didn’t fill it with sand first 😤
Hi, depends on how small the crack is and how well much is grabbing the concrete. If it fails in an area, just add sand and re-caulk. I've had really good results from this product.

Will concrete stain adhere well to the crack filler?
Seek the Lord and saviour Jesus Christ before it's too late. John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Hell is real and Heaven is also real. You don't want to spend an eternity in Hell torment without God. The only way to escape Hell is to follow Jesus Christ our Lord and saviour. Study the KJV Bible to know more and pray and seek until you find Jesus. Don't delay tomorrow might be too late. You are mot promised even the next minute. Do it now
Thanks for the knowledge.
