the elf eating the spaghetti was a reference to the movie Elf (2003) where Buddy the Elf (Will Ferrell) eats spaghetti for breakfast after he finds his real dad in NYC. It is actually a really funny movie (has a 87% on rotten tomatoes, which is high especially for a comedy) and I highly recommend it. It's on HBO MAX (streaming) or Amazon Prime/VOD (for rent).
