    Hürrem Sultan was a woman who lived in the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century. Her original name is believed to be Aleksandra Lisowska or Roxelana, and she was born in a region in present-day Ukraine. She was born around 1502 or 1505. At a young age, she was captured and became a part of the Ottoman Empire's harem. Over time, she became one of Sultan Süleyman's favorites and eventually married him, taking the title of Hürrem Sultan. She is known as a highly influential and powerful woman in Ottoman history.
