I agree, their chemistry is soooo 🤩but he loves what she represent and Also her power. He's kind of toxic. I hope he is going to love her in the next seasons
Perhaps if he had trusted her, it would have been different. They had the same goal, but the Darkling preferred to lie, manipulate and make her a tool in his hands. I really love them, their conflict is wonderful
I mean, it's everything that makes sense to him... decades and decades that's what he had to do. They didn't have enough time for him to muster up the courage to trust her completely, which is why it's so especially tragic to me. (basically I agree with you. Not enough time for enough trust for the truth to divulge itself). Especially after she learns, sort of, the truth, and how that goes south and she doesn't consider the multifaceted nature of it all.
I actually see it the other way around. Perhaps if she had trusted him more instead of just running away after learning the truth, he wouldn't have resorted to such drastic measures. But then if he had told her the whole truth from the beginning, this wouldn't have happened. That's what makes their relationship so interesting though, it's complicated and unpredictable.
They didn't have the same goal though. The whole time he planned to use the fold as a weapon whereas she wanted to destroy it. He would've loved for her to be by his side, their power ruling all, but he was mostly fixated on her power and the fact that it wasn't his. She never would've agreed to let him use the fold to rule over everything. She always would've wanted it destroyed which is why they never could've been a couple together, even though their chemistry is very very good.
I am really hoping for the show to go deeper into their conflict and Kirigan in general. Not just the typical hero vs villain, it is so oversaturated. This show is admittedly quite shallow and I doubt they will do anything surprising... The actor that plays Kirigan clearly added more layers to the shallow villain, you can see subtle facial expressions during his interactions with Alina. I remain hopeful for a deeper dive into his motivations and behavior, a gradual development to an anti-hero perhaps? We'll see!
I feel like she would've fought by his side if it turned out that Grisha would be hunted again if they destroyed the Fold, but Aleksander was too afraid to trust anyone after years of being on his own, its sad really🥺

well said...i hope before they kill him off, they're able to completely show the viewers around and give a feel of what it is like being in his head...going thru centuries of loneliness, loss and pain
The air was ashy, breathing was becoming inexorably difficult. My lungs were filling with dirt and the noises all around me sounded muffed from the explosions. My sight was becoming blurred and everything looked incredibly slow as if I were looking through a window at someone else’s life. I looked around me: the Crows were holding themselves together, Inej standing in front of Kaz, her eyes wide with surprise and fear. Kaz was on his back, I couldn’t tell if he was injured from here. Jesper was kneeling next to him trying to say something in his ear but he didn’t seem to be paying attention. All his focus seemed to be on the scene before him: Aleksander was in a cloud of night trying to fight off the king’s army on one side and rogue soldiers from Fjerda on the other. He was on his knees, a streak of pain colouring his face, blood rippling from his torso, ruining his uniform and painting the dirt on the ground. My hearing was starting to come back slowly, I turned to my right were few meters away was his majesty’s army. The General was shouting at me, it took a few seconds to register what he was saying - kill him! - his voice scary as he growled at me like a mad dog. I looked into his eyes and I saw it: just pure hate, for who I was, for my abilities. Hate for something I didn’t choose, hate because I was different from them, more powerful. I never given them any reason to be afraid of me, till a few months ago I didn’t even know what I was. But none of it seemed to matter, they still hated me just like they hated Aleksander and I hadn’t even striked back at them. In my mind came back the memories of Aleksander’s past, not the story they taught in their books about the Black Heretic but what had really happened. - I didn’t know what to do… I was just a boy back then trying to learn to control my power - his gaze was fixed on a distant point in the room but I knew he was actually lost in thought - Me and my mother spent months at a time running and hiding, until one day the guards captured us. I was threatened that they would kill my mother if I didn’t do what the king asked, he wanted me to fight for him. He wanted me to round up others like me and win a war for him and we did. You know how history says that I became greedy and insatiable with power? Do you know what had actually happened? The same night we won all my people were sleeping in the barracks and he sent soldiers for a coup: they killed everyone inside. I wasn’t there, I went to break my mother free of the dungeons but I heard it: high pitched screams like the crackling of fire. By the time we had come out the barracks were burning to ash. I spent the next twenty years running away and hiding my people - I looked at him, he seemed suddenly so young and so old at the same time. The weight of his words and the memories were showing on his face giving away a truer idea of his real age. But his eyes when he looked at me… he seemed what I would have imagined a frightened ten-year-old Aleksander to look like. A confused child whose life had been stolen from him, a child who was victim of circumstances he didn’t choose. I remembered when he brought me to the fountain saying how he had always made a wish that he could be anyone else, he hadn’t lied about that. Mal shook me out of my thoughts, I turned to him. He was covered in dirt and was pointing his finger towards were I knew Aleksander was struggling. I turned my gaze and saw him fighting to not fall on the ground. One hand was keeping his weight from collapsing, the other was erecting a wall of shadow trying to keep off spears and bullets. As if he felt my eyes on him he turned his head and looked at me and I saw it all over again: a scared boy, confused as to why he had been hunted down his entire life just for being different. I looked over the army again and I rose to my feet. Mal tried to grab my arm but I shook him off - Alina, what are you - I didn’t give him time to finish - I am going to help him - Mal’s gaze looked as confused as if I were speaking some ancient language he could not understand. - What do you think will happen once I help them kill him? What do you think they will do to me? - I pointed a finger at the army with rage. - I am the same thing as he is to them: a threat, an annoyance, a bug on their shoulder jeopardizing their power. The only reason I am still breathing right now is because they think they need me to kill Aleksander. As soon as he drops to the ground they will turn against me as quickly as they once considered me an ally. I will need to spend the rest of my existence running and hiding, fighting for my life. Fighting to not be killed or captured and sold off. And Mal, eternity is a very long time to be afraid - I didn’t wait for his reply, I didn’t even look back at him. I didn’t want to look or I might have changed my mind. I started running towards Aleksander. (Would anyone read it if I wrote an AU ending for Shadow and Bone?)
I know (even though I haven't read the books yet) that Aleksander is the villian and that him and Alina won't end up together (and neither should they, if he treats her badly) but I do ship them.... And I think the reason is the incredible chemistry that the two of them have!!! I mean I adore Ben! And seriously he and Jessie are fire together!
This song is LITERALLY PERFECT for them. How he fooled her, how she fell in love with him when she didn't know who he was, how she tried to help him but it turned out to be a mistake trusting him and how he was both paradise and death at different points of the story. And how there is no time to die, because they both have goals that are not yet fulfilled. And they literally cannot die, so there is no time for them to die of old age. So yeah good choice. And the video is absolutely beautiful!
That was heartbreaking! I wish they give us Darklina endgame, but life is unfair, at my almost 30 i should get used to it (i'm too old for this, i know,))))))
I agree about what Ben said about the darkling loving Alina he said in the ying yang symbol (sorry if I spelt it wrong) there is a spot of white and black on each side and he said the darkness is the darkling and the white is Alina so the darkling felt a small amount of hope that came wither her. He grabbed on to the hope in a way that maybe he wasn’t prepared to deal with. I personally think he wasn’t ready to deal with it. He might have lived 500 years but he finally found a person thought could be equal to him. His mother told him no one would ever and here is someone that did. He jumped at her and maybe he hurt himself in the end along with her, I believe he did love her but in a way that didn’t make it seem like love, he wanted her to rule with him side by side. He was excited at the fact he found someone equal
I don’t excuse his actions forgot to add that. He did terrible things and everyone should say he did. But you can still like certain aspect of a person
I think the darkling is even more hurt when Alina is hurt but his looked that everyone have saw was a tough guy who leads the army and he could not show his weakness
I finally read the first book and have bought the final two. Now im going to watch the show... I couldn't help but ship them in the first book. The show looks really good! >.> I don't know how i will feel about him by the end but damn it I like him right now lol
She seemed more heartbroken than angry because he could trust her. She was sympathetic to his cause. He got used to manipulating people and in this situation it was a terrible mistake. He didn't have to isolate her. If he didn't lie and so, she would accept him bc she loves him too.

And you are right, but it's the tragedy of them that makes them so compelling, the reason why most of us could never actually care about her and Mal (he literally has no personality whatsoever in the books and he's kind of a douche to Alina in multiple occasions, but they kinda erased most of his flaws on the show, which made him even more one dimensional, he's just the good guy.)

Maybe we should make some petition for Darklina in season 2 ? 🤔
we should...fans should show some power...no point of fighting with Malina fans , better to show your strength instead...Twitter is the way
All he wants was protect to grishas. Yeah, he lied. But everybody lies. Instead of run away, she should have talked to him. I think she is the only one in the world who convince to the Darkling. But she prefered to run away from him and she made him her villain. Those all things could have been different. See how he is looking at her. His eyes have so many feelings for her. Ah, Alina! How fool you are! What will become then Darkling died? Will the world get better? Or the grishas and other humans will fight? I think the second one will. Ahhhhh
I agree 😔
Billie Eilish + Darklina = 😌😭
I was listening to "your power" as I read your comment... This song is crazy fitting for their relationship
@@nahimiYT right?! Think about it. In the books, alina is 17 i think. and the darkling is an ancient grandpa. He was using alina for his own gain. Manipulating her and taking advantage of her immaturity and ignorance. Love that song btw
the editing... the song... everything is on point! truly stunning
The only dislike is by Mal, I'm sure about it
It will fucking break my heart if we don't get a season 2 of this. It is too good and the entire cast is brilliant. Ben draws you in, never have I understood the saying that the dark side can be seducing until right now. Holy hell I'd pretty much... yeah.
Sure she would had a different perception of Kirigan and his motives if he had told her everything about HIS BACKSTORY. Not only the part that Bragha explained to her. I mean of course Alina wouldn't accept to be part of his plan knowing she was betrayed and lied to. It's so sad to see that she think he's ONLY A MONSTER, not knowing what he has BEEN THROUGH FOR HUNDRED YEARS.
#darklina
well said...i hope before they kill him off, they're able to completely show the viewers around and give a feel of what it is like being in his head...going thru centuries of loneliness, loss and pain
After I read the demon in the wood I feel so sad for him. So many betrayals broke him and turned him into Darkling
they did change my world
this song fits perfectly for these two!!!
Yesssssssss
Omg yasssss
That is a work of art
@@RandomUser931 hiiii it's me your bestie from school!!!
Was it written? Because this was amazing!
And maybe....just maybe there is a real life reason for that.....hmmmm.
Literal chills, you portrayed them so beautifully!
This song fits them so well omfg
Oh i hope so freaking much that they make them be endgame in the show?
sweet summer child....
Nooo way
It’s not like that in the books and i don’t know I really hate him for what he does plus he’s so oooooold
He’s a perfect manipulator

This song is LITERALLY PERFECT for them. How he fooled her, how she fell in love with him when she didn't know who he was, how she tried to help him but it turned out to be a mistake trusting him and how he was both paradise and death at different points of the story. And how there is no time to die, because they both have goals that are not yet fulfilled. And they literally cannot die, so there is no time for them to die of old age. So yeah good choice. And the video is absolutely beautiful!
this song is just so so perfect for the darkling
This is the best darklina edit ever!!! The song fits perfectly and i am LIVING for it.
This is a masterpiece 🧎♀️
I AM lITERALLY SOBBING IN MY ROOM
DARKLINA OTP💕🥺 *"FAINTS"*
That was heartbreaking! I wish they give us Darklina endgame, but life is unfair, at my almost 30 i should get used to it (i'm too old for this, i know,))))))
Manifesting them going off book source material so these two can have a run back. Need more Darklina.
Fool me once, fool me twice - are you death or paradise? This song is so perfect for them tbh
The best edit of darklina i've ever seen (and there was a lot of them XD) 😍❤️
god i really hope they somehow alter the ending so that they end up together
The scenes suit so good to the lyrics
both edit and the song are perfect
☺️✨
THEY DESERVE BETTER!!!!!!
This song fits so perfectly for them, this edit is insane love it
This look they give to each other @ 3:11 is just "I BURN FOR YOU" ❤
This gave me chills omg
Best video of this two so far! Congrats! ❤️
This song is theirs, the translation perfectly matches With their history, this couple should have been real
I think the darkling is even more hurt when Alina is hurt but his looked that everyone have saw was a tough guy who leads the army and he could not show his weakness
this is a masterpiece
I finally read the first book and have bought the final two. Now im going to watch the show... I couldn't help but ship them in the first book. The show looks really good! >.> I don't know how i will feel about him by the end but damn it I like him right now lol
You could've made average fanmade video. Instead, you made this...🖤
I want a Darkling for Christmas

You’re not alone -alexsander
You’re not alone -Alina
🥺😩 HOW CAN YOU TELL ME THEY’RE NOT MEANT TO BE
This song fits them so well what
She seemed more heartbroken than angry because he could trust her. She was sympathetic to his cause. He got used to manipulating people and in this situation it was a terrible mistake. He didn't have to isolate her. If he didn't lie and so, she would accept him bc she loves him too.
It's wonderful! Perfect! You're very talanted. I'm waiting for a next video
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ This is really professional video. This is georgeous ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
thank you so much ✨
That one dislike is from Mal
i ship them so bad. hopefully we see more of them on season 2.

This edit is a masterpiece. I'll beat someone if they say the other.
I love this!!!
How did you get the clips of Shadow And Bone?
I am sure she would have made him a better man if she stayed with him.
The opposite of darkness is sunlight.
One cannot exist without the other, but they aren't good for each other.
I feel like they’re right people wrong life time. You can genuinely see that Alina would’ve truly fallen for him and same goes for Aleksander. They’re equals and could’ve been magic. (I haven’t read the books so don’t come at me 😭🤚🏻)
I've read the books and I agree with you 100%. She should've given him another chance to redeem himself. I'll forever be bitter over this ship 😭
No one that has read the books is gonna come for you because the best part of the books IS Darklina. Even when they're enemies, their dynamic is just the most interesting part of it (and Nikolai).
Yes she even says in the tv series " we could've had this, all of this", she says like before she was betrayed she considered a future with him, a future for them
comfort couple
I don't know why but this couple is delena energie
I need a book with the main character is like the Darkling and the MC still chooses him even if he is a evil!!!!! GIVE ME RECS PLEASE!!!
Oh yes me too
Me too!
Well, I was watching and thinking they reminded me of something...Then, it clicked: Feyre & Rhys, from ACOTAR. It's a book series.
@@Gigi-ud4mz ohhh yeeees. Sadly I also red the
books, but @Jacky you will love them.
