      @@LizardChameleon You could not be more wrong. Bedard gets all of the attention from opposing teams since he is the Hawks only threat. He goes up against top shutdown lines every game and he is just a bit below a point per game as an 18 year old. He obviously isn't great defensively but it has a lot to do with the fact that he is the only guy on his team who can produce offensively so he needs to make certain sacrifices defensively. At 5v5, Hawks are -26 in goal differential when Bedard is on the ice. When he isn't on the ice, they're -57. He is not the problem.

      @@LizardChameleonSo I can see you are new to hockey and a fan girl of the wild ( or mild as we all call them) . First off welcome to hockey. Greatest game ever! Secondly the points you are making up are really… well.. moronic. Being a center on a team that hasn’t been able to give you support is much harder. 5 on 5 Bedard numbers have been fine. Bedard also has shown he’s a good back checker (Faber had two turnovers to Bedard last game). In 4 years when Bedard catches Faber in age, chances are he’ll be in a Cup run and possibly lifting Lord Stanley. Meanwhile Faber stuck on a team trying to work out of a cap hit mess. Happens. Chicago had 5 players with huge cap hits and are just now recovering. Anyway welcome to puck…and pro tip: avoid posting stupid comments like you did…dead give away you’re a noobie😂

  • @nigelcanuck5943

    Faber should at least be considered in the voting, but he does have considerably more of a line-up to work with and the advantage of 3 years in the Minors to hone his skills, hence the trust for TOI. The Fire Sale in Chicago last year in pursuit of Bedard gutted the team and the GM did little to provide him any kind of a supporting cast! Bedard came straight in as an underweight 18 year old with no real protection from his team, but he still finds open ice and scores or sets up his teammates. Faber has 4 players on his team with more points than Bedard. Bedard has the most points on his team playing 14 fewer games. Good points for discussion and consideration, but I still think Bedard is your winner.

    • @Yo_Adrienne
      @Yo_Adrienne Місяць тому

      Davidson actually did provide Bedard with a better supporting cast. Unfortunately, they were so injury-riddled from the get-go at both the NHL and AHL levels, that they were forced fill out their roster with guys they claimed off of waivers. Almost every guy on the roster wound up on the IR at some point. A lot of them at the same time. They lost Taylor Hall for the entire season, and Corey Perry got himself fired. As for Bedard's size, he's the same height as Patrick Kane, and outweighs Kane by 10 pounds. I'm not hearing anyone calling Kane "underweight." The kid is built like a fire plug.

Yeah, they aren't winning all that much yet. But that's what happens when your entire team is literal trash outside of a few players.

  •  Місяць тому

    Thanks for another good video. Can you do one commenting on the significance of Bedard's horrble plus/minus? I mean, it is a weird stat, but having 59 points on the season and still be -38 is still odd, right? And it's not like he's constantly playing against the top line of the opposition - Dickinson seems to do his fair share of that.
    Compare it to a player like Victor Wembanyama who is also on a crap team that made themselves as bad as possible to win the draft lottery. The Spurs are losing and losing - but when Wemby is on the court he is a stud at both ends and most definitely not a minus player.

    Connor Bedard is easily winning the calder trophy it Shouldn’t be a discussion. Faber and Hughes are having great rookie seasons, but they are defensemen and it is really hard to win the Calder as defensemen. Also the NHL votes on points then production on the ice for who wins.

  • @BlasphemousMusic

    Might be slight bias as a wild fan but faber imo is better. Bedard was so hyped up he wins the calder by name alone. Hes a generational talent and one might say living up to the hype but hes not great defensively. Hes not a good all around player, yet. Faber is. Defense always gets over looked for flashy goals. Its sad Faber had to come into the league same time as Bedard or it would be him running away with the title.
