Very comprehensive overview, nicely set with needed information for new buyers and those still figuring out how the helmet works. I initially made the purchase to use with my Evolve GTX Bamboo ES8 , then my RadRover EBike and now my VSett 10+ EScooter.....visibility is fine, breathability and staying cool in the summer and warm in the cooler days with zero fogging issues is sublime. While on my Evolve cruising at 17 mph a car ran the stop sign just in front of me, I swerved immediately and ended up crashing...the helmet saved my head.
I’ve skied w mine for a full season (70 times on the mountain). It was simply awesome in the cold, wet, blowing snow, heavy snow. The full face protected me from wind burn as well as getting direct wind chill. The only day I was bummed about it was on a heavy snow day that was (for some reason) plain ol’ damp. The goggles (or any goggles for that matter) would not stay clear. I also was LnR the only one so I attribute it to an impossible solution for that one experience. 99% great days. 👍👍
I LOVE my RGDX1. As you said, ventilation is incredible, and the full-face has probably saved me from becoming a Quadriplegic once, so far. I use mine for snow sport, though.
Speeder Bike Storm Trooper mode rocks... and so does the Mandolorian. Your right, the face piece is what makes this helmet. Would it be as interesting with just the helmet and goggles? Nope. I've been a fan of Star Wars since it was released in the 70's. As a kid I dreamt of having a bad ass helmet that was anything remotely Star Warsish. This is this first real functional helmet I've seen that was within reason of buying. Yes its expensive, but what hobby isn't? Kudos to the engineers. Thanks for this great review.👍👍
Great review man! What size is that ruroc helmet you have? I don't know if I should get small or medium. I have a 56cm noggin but just a little over. Worried the small will be too small and medium will be too big 😂
Thanks! I'd say go for the medium, because it comes with extra sizing pads which you could use to get a snugger fit as opposed to going small and not being able to do anything if it is too tight.
My first Esk8 is a Backfire G2 Black...and, fir it, I have a Triple8 helmet, which is perfectly god. However, I have an Ownboard Zeus on the way, which has a max speed approximately double that of the G2. As such, I feel I need a better helmet. I cold go with a three-quarter helmet, or a full-face helmet...but, I've decided I'd really prefer to have a 'convertible' helmet. I've narrowed the choices down to the Giro Switchblade MIPS, Bell Super 3R (MIPS), & Ruroc RG1-DX. Thank you, GREATLY, for the very informative video. I haven't made a final decision...the first two are for BMX/MotoCross, while the RG1-DX was designed for snowboarding...but, thanks to your review, I'm leaning towards the RG1-DX. I know it's not "rated" for downhilling/skateboarding...but, in all honesty, I don't understand why. After watching the facemask testing video, I don't see why it wouldn't pass. EDIT: I've changed my mind, and eliminated Ruroc from consideration. After reading a lot of customer reviews (obviously, NOT from their website, which will be understood in a minute), it appears that, over the past several months, there have not only been a HUGE number of complaints, the number of complaints is INCREASING. There have been countless reports of wrong helmets and/or sizes (mostly wrong sizes) being shipped, missing items (such as missing goggles), defects, etc. Worse, the quality of customer service has dropped to the point of being (virtually) non-existent. People are reporting an increasing number of no replies from Ruroc, as well as some very "interesting" inconsistencies in the replies received. As such, it's down to the Bell & Giro, with Giro in the lead.
Great review! Is this the regular RG1-DX or is it the "asian" fit RG1-DX? Also I've heard that they run small and some ppl are sizing up. Did you find that to be true. I'm planning on using it for snowboarding and wearing a t-shirt thin balaclava underneath. Thx
I just ordered one of those (core as well) and my ride is about 3 km each way. I use a V8f unicycle. I ordered transition lenses with it in the hopes ai can wear the same ones when I’m headed in at night and when I go home daytime. As others have mentioned the cut visibility I ordered a wrist mounted side mirror so I can see traffic coming up behind me. Highest speed the app recorded me going is about 40 km per hour (though it says the max is 35). I figure at some point I’ll get unlucky and fall on my face. At that moderate a speed will that face mask be any protection?
their mouth piece actually work , you can check their testings. its not as strong as down hill helmets but its still way better than half helmets. you can easily see their tests on youtube
Pretty decent and objective review. I'm using the "Ronin" version to use with my e-scooter. the FOV definitely needs a little getting used to, but after a few hours your brain should adapt to it.
Thanks mate! I totally forgot to mention the Asian vs regular fit *facepalm* but hey first review, I'll learn and do better next time. The Ronin is dope! But yeah, I see why storm troopers die so easily, can't see anything coming at you from the sides hahaha. I find myself whipping my head around a lot to check my blind spots with this helmet though.
My first eskate is coming in a week. I plan on wearing a full face motorcycle helmet (already purchased) because of the crashes I've seen online. As a motorcyclist of 10+ years I doubt I'll have a problem with the field of view. I don't know anything other than full face.
When I wear it at the slope, people look at me. I don't know if they look at me because I look stupid or I look cool with this helmet. I haven't heard any comments yet so far. Also I find that the helmet and chin cover seem to be compatible with Oakley's Fall Line XM goggles (Not XL).
Normal people who're on the slope to have fun tend to think it's cool. Neck beard redditors who judge others for no reason and think they have a say in what you wear because of "style" (albeit probably not even wearing a helmet at all) will call you a jerry or a kook. Have fun out there :)
thanks for the info really help me i was looking for a full face helmet for Ebike-Electric bicycle and i can't make a choice the Ruroc is a cool helmet but bloody expensive im in Canada so the price point is 430-500 CAD$ so do you have any idea for a full face Helmet
You know what's funny is that I still have not figured out how to remove the plastic visor as I feel like I'm going to break it? You simply just removed it like nothing? 🤔
the suit doesnt help. just wear something your confy in bro. btw try to balance the light and your white level, you're over exposed. PS. mind game trick for you, if you elevate your cam up and have it look down towards you, it gives the impression of smart little buddy.. the camera angle alone will make you feel more friendly and seem less worried/nervous. but other than that everything else is super clean. keep up the awesome work bud!! :-D
Thank you for watching and for the feedback! Haha yeah I've been incrementally fine tuning to get it better here and there, so I really appreciate the support and tips from viewers like you that's helped me get better.
I like the look I like the feeling I got it for around 180 and don’t really care about the hate because it’s just online I only got complements for it in real life
Great video, i ride with this on my escooter when commuting everyday. I laugh at cold weather and rain and also bugs and crap being blown around. It also intimidates lycra wearing douchebags (not all lycra wearing people are douchebags) yes they are expensive and could do with some extra room in the front for large heads as my nose almost touches the face mask. It's already protected me from the concrete face plant but the postage on lenses has me just taking off the goggles in lowlight.
How do you find the visibility for city usage? I tend to go half shell in the city, partly because I enter and exit lots of building (say a Starbucks) and having to put on and take off the Ruroc multiple times when you have your hands full is a bit much sometimes. But also I worry about visibility on sidewalks and narrow paths. But also it looks so badass haha so whatever. I wanna wear it to a rave sometime.
@@sirzackefeller I don't usually ride around that much other than going to and from work on the escooter. But if i am cruising slow i tend to put the goggles up, the FOV is very narrow and sometimes a downright pain. But i can't find anything on the market that is light, full face and looks so damn sweet.
Zero so true! I wish augmented vision helmets were more readily accessible. I saw a motorcycle helmet with a wide angle camera built into the back so you can see what’s going on behind you on the inside of your helmet, pretty sweet.
@@sirzackefeller Probably thinking of the Skully helmet from a couple of years ago. Bloodshot and i, Robot had awesome motorcycle HUDS. One day we will get such awesome.
I hated it up until Black Friday came lol. also it seems EVERY super73 rider has it and thats why I hated it. I bought the Gargoyle colorway plus shcokpods and orange lens a nice plus is MX goggles fit the helmet too even with the mask on.
Fr though. Most helmet/goggle sets from reputable brands tend to have an average pricing of $200-250, and on sale the ruroc rg1 is a little over $250. Plus you don't have to worry about fogging or being slapped by tree branches. Really not that bad.
I have to make the comment here that Ruroc has a video out of the front face test. The plastic will not splinter out and holds up to some great amount of force. Do i recommend for a down hill crash (Still NO)
yep, I linked to the official face mask test in the description and in a card during the segment I talk about it. I definitely feel safer in it than with my regular half shell, but if I'm doing anything insane I always switch back to my Triple 8 Downhill helmet. But at the end of the day some protection is better than no protection on the face :)
Abrakadabra working on it today! Been stuck with projects from my paying job recently. I’ll post the link once it’s up, sorry for the delay and thanks for showing interest in it.
You really know your stuff. I expected thousands of subs but clearly despite the size of the channel your content is amazing. Keep up
Thanks mate! I really appreciate the encouragement. We’ll get there some day!

Gregory Burkhead thank you 😊
What would you use for a proper full face helmet with wide field of view, no fogging issues, and strong chin support for the most intense face plants?
How tf did you remove the visor so easily?

Dito Duck haha in due time my friend.

Can I use it for electric scooter small bikes?
Why not put the goggles on before the chin guard so you don't have to do the awkward tuck in after wards?
