Syria is stepping into a new era of hope and freedom, breaking free from decades of oppression. Ahmed al-Sharaa’s promises of personal freedoms and a democratic future are a beacon of progress. In Damascus, reopened bars symbolize the resilience and courage of a nation reclaiming its spirit. This is the dawn of a vibrant, liberated Syria!

Ahmad Al-sharaa said they need all this time because he wants to build a lasting constitution, not one where it’s changed every couple of years. And about the delay in elections, he said that they needed to count how many Syrians are left after the brutal war so that it’s a fair election. The Constitution will be written by professionals, who will be chosen at a gathering that involves all parties next week.

I’m happy for the Syrians that normal life is coming to their every life. Syria is now like Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and other gulf countries that alcohol is legally allowed to be consumed. This is a social freedom that should be allowed by the government as long as they regulate the consumption of alcohol.

@@XHYTHTGFRVFGBV I'm not sure if people even know anything about Syria. Syria always had bars, and nightclubs and yes even other places that I cannot mention...this was just a front for Assad to show the world that he had a secular state in Syria...yet he brutalised an entire religious group of his own people. ie Sunnis. All this talk about bars and freedom to drink is irrelevant. It has nothing to do with the western world. Where were they when Syrians were being slaughtered for 7 years? West needs to mind their business.

Forget about liberating Syrians from dictatorship, bad economy, freedom of speech, ..., and let us focus on whether bars will be open or not.

@Questionizer-m7h US can't make other countries like them because having two US minded countries would be a total chaos and disaster if countries are ready to protect their economical hegemony with nukes.
Also the majority of Syrians are not extremely religious and are more like Turkish society and majority of "religious" people is not majority of Syrian people who are moderately religious.

HTS doesn’t have enough people to repress anyone. They only have power because Assad’s army put down their weapons. They govern at the leisure of the Syrian population that vastly outnumber their small group of fighters
