I bought this cd when this song first came out 25 years ago and I heard on a radio station in Little Rock AR of all places. I communicated with him years later and he seemed like a very well grounded guy. Sad to say I did not realize he’d passed away. Too young!
He died yesterday 30/5/2019 aged 59 RIP. I heard him for the first time today 31/5/2019 on BBC Radio 4. They do a programme half an hour once a week on people who have died that week. Why on earth has this outstanding singer, songwriter, musician passed me by? I will certainly be listening to his music from now.
Actually, he died on the 25th April. Like you, the first time I had heard of him was hearing the BBC Obituary - it is quite an honour - they only do 5 or 6 a week and choose people from all over the world.
think of it this way: we are special for knowing and appreciating his art. if we were not as special, we would not have paid attention to him like most people did not. "cut the crap, get real sweetheart, the pope does not smoke dope, even if he should, even if he should!" how can anyone forget these lyrics once they hear them?
This masterpiece is one of only a handful of songs of which I learned every word. Mr. Gray was a huge talent and I'm more than disappointed that he produced so little music. Where did he go??
Gregory replied to this very video post and other commenters shared a link stating that unfortunately he passed away earlier this year. See the other comments. Sorry!
Used to play this every week when I had a radio show in college... we only broadcast throughout one building and parts of the parking lot. SUNY Ulster. Don't think they've even had a radio station for like eleven or twelve years now :(
Man...I love this album so much!! Do you know where I can get a copy again 😭😭 or could you open a Spotify account so we have these tunes on the go?? Anyways this is a fabulous album dude thanks for an amazing high school soundtrack. My cd is out and scratched man where can I buy another lol seriously!
Gregory, if you read this....all I can say is.....J....J....J....J...JAMES BOND! ..............Vancoovur .below ..says you should have been HUGE!......well....in retrospect , I think You were ....and still are .........WAY.. above the average fodder... just totally misunderstood!! Love and peace from an imperfect criminal in Kaapstad!!
I could not agree more with your comment. Gregory (Mary Cigarettes later in life) was an outstanding singer/songwriter and a good man. He was not allowed to take off as he should have IMO. For those of left that still wallow in his talent, the moments are brilliant.
@@RichardMichaelScott As another Irish songwriter I had a mutual friend who played me one of his demos after he left 'Perfect Crime' and the quality was brilliant .LOVED HIS TRACK' When the music turns into money' said it all really .He got a good run , and should have been huge . Blessings from New Zealand
Euroflake in Silverlake was a brilliant album and this song from the album is pop perfection. A vastly underrated artist IMHO.

Lovely to watch. He played in our little band when he was 12 and I, 15.! In Todds house, Portrush. He was always a laugh. Bless you Paul.
I got this song on a mix tape at a music conference back in the mid-90s. It's a personal favorite. Should have been a huge hit.

So sad to hear the news - thank you for sharing it! Don't miss the artist's own personal remarks among the comments below!
I'm also here from that programme. BBC 4 is refreshing for new knowledge.

@@innerspaceboy That is very sad news. He created a song that is part of my life history and I feel a loss that he's gone. Thanks for letting me know.
Such a brilliant song...and album. This guy should have been HUGE!!
This song changed my life. Pure and simple.
Beautiful . Then it was job done for Gregory Gray a fellow Irish songwriter . As songwriters that is what we attempt to do in our own tiny ways.
I still use the term "whippin bucks" that I absconded from G. Gray. He was a glorious thing. RIP, sweet prince.
Not even a comment , for this beautiful song!! come on, cut the crap, get Real!!!
