Wow. Thanks for the upload, TCM. Thanks for posting. Spoiler alert!!!! Good movie but the ending didn't make sense. Why did she confess to the murders so easily when confronted by the Dr.? This character would have never given up so easily. I don't buy her explanation at all.
Although it's done very concisely, the doc does give the audience insight into Claire's pathology. The men in her lives are her father and when she loses them, it rips open the primal wound of Daddy's desertion.
They were supremely happy right up until she shot him😊. She is a good writer, she put everything she had in that story, she gave her life😊. If that analyst hadn't been so blunt, this wouldn't have happened😮.

I'll never understand why Whitman Chambers didn't give his novel the title "Blonde Ice" instead of "Once Too Often". Just one murder is "once too often" ; let alone 3 times!
Spoiler Alert! Don't read this if you have not seen the ending. Why did she "confess" to all the murders at the end simply because of the theories of the doctor? He had no hard evidence. What am I missing?
Just a year or so after this movie was released, Leslie Brooks married Russ Vincent. She became a full-time homemaker, had 3 children, and the couple remained married until his death. She lived about 10 years after that, dying in 2011.
I’m just confused by the ending. WHY DID Claire write a confession letter ? She seemed like she hid her tracks pretty well so why would confess everything in a letter? Maybe she thought the doctor was on to her and would expose her? Or perhaps she truly in her own way loved lee burns and felt some some of guilt? Any other suggestions or did I miss something.
As a couple of people have commented, the ending was unbelievable - or should I say, even more unbelieveable than the rest of the plot! But at the end of these films when the main actress is plainly seen to be a murdress, and likely to be executed, a script writer knows they must not leave the audience wondering how dreadful her fate is going to be and killing her off, no matter how, gives a sense of ending, which is what all good fiction has!
