"Stay cool Felipe, baby, stay cool".
Rob Smedley the LEGEND! 🙏🏼
Boys you have battered it out the park getting Rob on the show. The guy is a Legend 👍🏻👍🏻😂😂
‘batted’
@@beaujeste1 battered, I’m Scottish 🏴 so fu#€ off
HHF- One of the best. Would be great to have him on the show. Also, PLEASE get that absolute nutter Eddie Irvine in. The two Irish Eddies in one room would be a hoot.
Oh yes. That would be interesting
I was at Uni with Rob we became good friends. As a wedding gift he got us into the Ferrari padock at Silverstone an had one of the best days of my life
Boss that mate 👍
Wow great to have two legends of F1 hosting a podcast. Thank you DC and EJ for the fun and stories!
This guy comes from my hometown. Makes me miss Middlesbrough.
A very easy listen.. and you seemed to have stopped talking over each other! Great anecdotes.. nice work.
Great stuff, thank you gents. It brings back such good memories !
Just flicked on to this to see what Rob Smedley was up to,was actually glued to it watched till the end, loved it ,its great to see people do get on in F1 and become good friends, this was a great to watch.
Met Rob in 2015 in Barcelona while he was at Williams. What a lovely guy he was, I have fonder memories of that day than with Lewis as a Lewis fan. Also Nikki was amazing to talk to, so blessed to be in the paddock that day.
Goodmorning DC, didn’t know you had a channel. Enjoyed your F1 commentary, subscribed
Really enjoyed that, great down to earth talking from these guys.
As a massive ferrari fan. I would stand with massa IF they didn't screw up the race with Masa driving away before the refueling hose was removed. That actually screwed up his race
Not forgetting how he performed in the following 2 races, especially allowing Hamilton to beat him in a China.
But crash gate is crash gate, and Bernie and the FIA knew about it.
@@biljancanin Other than a claim which Bernie denies, Crashgate didn’t actually come out until Piquet Jr was sacked and he then cried to the press and Media. This was half way through the 2009 season. But are you saying Bernie and FIA knew about this before it happened, immediately after the race (in which case why was Alonso presented with the trophy) or did a Bernie find out when everyone else did in 2009.
Thank you ive been waiting for content like that for years !
fantastic banter. scotsman, irishman and an englishman taking the mick out of each other, comedy gold.
Wow - Possibly your best podcast to date. Brilliant guest. ❤
Love the show, great guests.
EJ wants to be careful picking up young boys and pulling them off on the Yorkshire moors 🙊
At least he’s not burying them on there.
Hes irish.. standard
Rob always sounded to me like he should have been pulling pints in the Rovers Return.
Brilliant Episode Rob, One Of My Favorites!!!! Forza Felipe!!!!!
He is from Teeside not Manchester !
More like just coming out of the Bongo Club at 3 am.
Fantastic interview as always gents
Always loved Rob, he seems like such a great guy. Will always remember that ‘fernando is faster than you’ radio message. It was like a big FU to the bosses at Ferrari with him making it so obvious to everyone else what was going on.
F1 needs the sprint race to be raced by the team spare driver.Three driver teams are the future with soo many GPs increasing on the calender.
Maby the sprint race should be driven by the team principles.😂
That's a great idea, a grid full of spare drivers. We get a chance to see who deserves a full time drive for the future, i'd like to see that.
@@andyelliott8027the only problem with that is the team preparation throughout the weekend for the main race and the test driver( spare) crash in and end the team chances with some teams having not enough replacement parts.
@@y.a.p8951 Yes, I suppose It'll never happen.
@@y.a.p8951 so exactly like Fernando Alonso crashing in fp3 this weekend, or the Williams earlier this season, crashing in practice in Australia & Japan? All 3 with regular drivers & not even on sprint weekends - if the most experienced drivers on the grid (Hamilton & Alonso) can have big moments in practice, there's no difference to a test driver crashing crashes happen, so its up to teams to plan for them
This is the 3rd time I watched your channel. I love DC and EJ co-hosting. I got hooked in F1 during the eras of these two great guys. I just subscribed 🙏🏎🇺🇸
Love this podcast!
Another fabulous podcast gents…
Best podcast yet could listen to them all day
Love your show
Another brilliant episode
Grate podcast. Must be longuer.
Jean Alesi.. Ha-ha! - what a character!
I'll never forget the F1 race, Jean Alesi being told over the radio to come in for fuel. He sensed victory, and refused. Some laps later, Jean Alesi pulled over to the side of the track.. out of fuel. What was Jean thinking? XD
I got into the sport in the early 90’s and Alesi in that scarlet #27 really epitomised it for me. I’ve always loved drivers with shed loads of talent, questionable self control and no luck.
I’m really enjoying Formula For Success. I never used to like EJ and thought he was very opinionated. Well I think he has character and I’m glad he has strong opinions about things, we need more people like him in this woke world. Great interview and good to see Rob Smedley and hope he comes back into F1. Keep up the good work DC.
Yes I miss the weekend debriefs he used to do.
I love EJ's growl. Hit like to keep the the growl ! 😂
Great guest 😎😎👍
Amazing podcast / episode
Yeah, I can't understand what Massa is doing. For one thing, Lewis got screwed in Spa. A commentator said, "If Massa wins, it will always be tainted." Also, how many times could a legal case be made retrospectively? What about Bandini taking G Hill out in Mexico so he lost and his team mate, Surtees won?
love Rob Smedley....great guest
second best f1 podcast on youtube, after Marc P, F1 elvis
FELIPE BABY STAY COOL!
I think "We are checking" is the most famous radio message in F1 history. Like come on. But hey, it's again by Ferrari
EJ, Keen for Oranjezicht Market tomorrow morning?
Really good one, again!
Any chance you could get Heinz Harald to join one of these? (And Mika, please)
Please get Mika 🙏🏼
Yes mika
Dragged him off the Yorkshire Moors…classic 😂
EJ says about replacing Frentzen by Sato. But that's not how I remember things. I remember that Frentzen was replaced by Zonta in Germany and then by Alesi for the remainder of the season. Moreover, there were two car and with Jarno leaving for Benetton/Renault anyway you can fit both Frentzen and Sato.
I still don't understand. Justice for what? Ferrari blundered the pitstop and that ultimately lost him the championship, it wasn't Renault that lost him the title as much as he'd like to think that it was. Common sense just seems to be devoid. There could have been any reason for teams to pit, Ferrari messed up pure and simple.
Its not that easy. Renault well known cheating means that the race should not have been counted. And you can hardly talk about common sense here, because what would most people with common sense say if you asked them - if the rules say that a sporting event may not be scored if cheating has taken place, should it matter whether it is known or proven in the same year or only after 15 years? Pretty much everyone would say - NO. Because rules are rules and justice is justice and no matter who has benefited from the cheating, that must not be allowed, that is not fair! And you can twist and turn it however you like - the fact is that according to the rules this race should not have been scored. Which would have had the further consequence that Massa would have been world champion. And sorry - but it's pretty much the opposite of common sense to score a race that was influenced and won by cheating. And in fact also against the regulations which state that such races must NOT be scored!
@@fam.hunger5244 yes that race should count. One team cheats and all the others teams' efforts that race are simply "not counted". This makes no sense at all.
Ferrari messed up!! There is noone else to blame.
@@fam.hunger5244 to summarise Renault WERE rightly punished for cheating. You can't void the whole race because of one team's actions. Would you void all the riders at the Tour de France because of Lance Armstrong cheating? What are you talking about. If you can't understand that then so be it.
I would love to know how Eddie got the Sasol sponsorship
What’s the giant screw on the ikea bookshelf behind Rob?
I ave got so behind with my work so many times due to listening to this podcast and the other episodes before. I don't care.
I have a photo of the grid at the 2000 USGP. All lights out and all cars in their boxes. 1 car with a wisp of tire smoke on the right rear. ..D.C.
Time stood still.
Jump start
We need Rob Smedley in F1 commentary. He is brilliant
When are we going to see Eddie on one of these shows
Great video thanks
DC thank you for what you're doing with More Then Equal
EJ's "aaargh" is a crucial part of the video's.
The best bit about working for EJ is handing in your notice and moving on.
Rob is great.
Wish Rob was still in F1 he was / is a great bloke.
TV GOLD.
You can see Rob being a proper jack the lad in his early years, great guy, cheers 🍻
Ditch the hybrids and go to hydrogen combustion V10s. All the sound, almost no emissions.
22:45 Michael Masi is not a racing god...that circumstance was man-made. The '08 circumstance was nature naturing.
Eddie DOGGINg on Yorkshire moors???🤣🤣🤣
The biggest injustice was Lewis in 2021. If you look back there could be loads of court cases.
😂 McLaren-Merc shouldn't have even been allowed to enter the 2008 Championship, never mind what happened in Brazil. Dennis and Whitmarsh were cheating bullys.
Merc screwed up in 2021, if you think it was unfair following the directives of not finishing under the safety car, you can call it Karma.
Like is said in this video, sometimes it goes your way, sometimes it doesn't. No point crying about it.
It falls into the "if my mother had balls, she would have been my father" territory.
Hello David! Talking about justice, what do you have to say about the movement on the Williams Fw16 steering wheel/column? It would be nice to hear something from a Man like you David Coulthard. Thank you for all the videos with that "mad" pirate named Eddie! Rrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!
I worked with ALL THREE of them.
Jordan probably perfected the pirate growl on his Oyster Yacht around the world sailing.
Talking about Takuma like he's Sakon Yamamoto or Alex Yoong. His Jordan scored 9 points, 2 by Sato, 7 by Fisichella. It wasn't winning a race with Schumacher at the wheel.
Standard
No such thing as bad luck 🍀 just bad preparation. I remember Ron Dennis saying something like that.
No need for what massa is doing and if by some miracle he’s successful it will open the door for many drivers to appeal results . Prime example 2021
Totally different story, mate.
@@user-ie5ke3uj6d no it’s not and it puts many outcomes at jeopardy. If hamilton loses a title to massa then it’s a no brainer Hamilton will do the same with 2021
You 2 are awesome. If I've said it once then it's worth repeating. Lewis is, at best, a 2x champion on merit. '14 &'15. Massa got screwed on '08, Jenson beat him in a car with a Merc engine zip tied and gaffer taped in the back. '10-'13 saw RBs 1st run, '16 Nico had enough and beat him in equal equipment and broke Lewis and the Merc PR team so '17-'20 he got a compliant team mate, Merc outspent everyone by a wide margin and now that there is a cost cap we see the results.
I'm not hating on Lewis but if you go back and watch the races, Google the budgets you'll see for yourself. Merc has alot of money in Lewis from day 1 Nd fair play to him and them, it was not against the rules, but neither was it on merit.
Your mad
You got time to comment, then you got time to Google it and see for yourselves. Not trying to change anyone's minds. It's there for everyone to see but I understand some folks blind admiration and fandom for thier hero's, that part of the sport but if you truly believe that Merc and Lewis went 4 straight on merit and not by spending close to 2 billion then bless your hearts. Just look at Bottas. 10 wins and 60 podiums in a Merc. Now he's lucky to get out of Q2. His talent didn't fall off a cliff that hard.
Here's just 1 you can check. Red Bulls 2017 budget, 200 million. Mercs 2017 budget 450 million.
That's a brave post ! , The fanboys don't like any level of criticism being fired at their box ticker hero never mind a full on broadside.😂.
@@Lockwoodbeck61 I've been a Merc fan probably longer than some of the teamLH fans have been alive so it hurts to see them like this but facts are fact. I had to do the research to find out what went wrong. Now, he has been in a very top seat since day 1 as well so there's that but this podcast has changed my mind a bit. I'll give Lewis 3 championships cause, stuff happens but the big run was bought, not earned. Merc and the 17-20 run is a major reason there is a costcap now.
And don't get me started on Michael schumacher, they'll come with the pitchforks and the torches for sure. 😅
In Lances Autobiography he mentions Massa
Takuma Sato won the Indianapolis 500 twice.
Taku was special. He crashed everything all year then came up with a 5th in his last race in Japan for Jordan.
The very first thing I thought of as interviewed started was Rob to Massa ( Fernando is faster than you ). Was it Alonso's Maiden race for Ferrari if not it was definitely his 1st season partnering Massa. I like Massa but he's wasting his time and money ,regarding the 08 WDC he was world champion for less than 10 seconds and that's how it is plus it was 16 years ago
Justice should be done.
Rob's a legend. At Ferrari. The Fernando is faster than you, was all about the punctuation. Gotta admit, these podcast could be even longer they are that interesting. Compared to Gary Neville anyway.🙄
What’s the story about Eddie always wearing Lindberg eyewear?
Massa drove off with the hose attached, binned it in the wall later, had the clearly better car over a season, and was an embarrassing spinning top at Silverstone. Let’s not even get me started on the FiA screwing Lewis at Spa to bring Massa back into the title fight. I’ve lost all respect for Massa.
And Smedley was a charlatan.
Best Sport💚💚
Forever to be known for 'Fernando is faster than you'
Bring Sato on.
I'm by no means a Lewis fan but this whole Massa thing is ridiculous. You can't rewrite history. There have been plenty of rule breaks that have happened throughout history. Do we have to now go back through history and invalidate all results from any grand prix which featured a driver getting disqualified? Well said Rob for putting that one to bed.
Speaking of rewriting history, it seems that Eddie has forgotten he dropped HHF for Alesi again...
Yes you can , it happened a few times in sport.
@@pietervanbreda4360please explain?
Lance Armstrong's 7 titles were taken of for cheating many years after he won. Why in F1 it looks strange to do justice. Many people were punished even banned for life but points were kept. Also with last lap saga of Max and Lewis and banned software that is installed but not used, secret tests etc. That is the ugliest part of this sport.
The team that cheated didn’t win the championship.
There are just far too many variables.
2021 was the biggest robbery and that was instigated by the FIA and the race director of all people. What chance do you have that being over turned.
Lance still won them titles, as they were all doping then, lance just did it better. You can't compare the tour de France in the last 90s to mid 00s to Massa almost championship.
Exactly, and their titles were not handed over to anybody else, which is exactly the right course of action and still Massa would not become world champion that way 🤭
Eddie Jordan is my hero🤣🤣
It looks like EJ is in a pub!
Eddie was rambling a lot in this one. Rob…great guest. David is really on form too.
Eddie was definitely after a smoke 😂
I could listen to this guy read the phone book.
Naughty Phillipe, HILARIOUS
Last time I was this early, my wife got pregnant.
U don't have a wife but nice joke
Get a DNA test
How??? What was she doing when you were making early comments on UA-cam videos ??? 😂🤣.
V12😊😊
What justice?
Kimi was being sabotaged, hated the car/tyres and Massa made countless mistakes.
Massa did not deserve 2008 at all.
Couldv'e just called the show, people Jordan screwed over
David and Eddie have opposite heads; long and skinny vs short and wide; Rob has a normal bonce.
Does anybody believe this Frentzen Sato story?, Eddie's regurgitated it several times but he didn't sack Frentzen mid season for Sato to jump in the car. No Alesi was in the car, if Eddies story is true why didn't he wait till the end of the season? There were rumours flying about at the time of a rift between Heinz and Eddie.
eddie was very good a picking up young lads ???
Massa 🏆
2008; the last year ferrari won anything. Depressing to read that as a fan of theirs.
Prost,Hakkinen,Mansell,Barrichello Montoya,Piquet interview next?
Is there anyone Eddie doesn't owe money 💰 to 😂
😂👍🏻
