The only reason they named this band Slipknot is because "Hot Topic" was already trademarked.
Look, all we're saying is if you made music and it was this bad then you'd probably want to hide behind a mask, too. Does it seriously take nine people to suck this hard? How many shows did they do with eight members before deciding it just didn't suck enough and they had to throw in one more? They could have gone all the way to ten, except this is mall metal for people who lose fingers in firework accidents and can't count that high.

Numetal isn't metal, and Slipknot in particular is for people whose collective IQ comes short of comfortable room temperatures.
It's hilarious how mad people get when you tell that that nu metal isn't actually metal. I even like the first 2 slipknot albums but really nu metal is just downtuned and palm muted alt rock / punk riffs.

I know this podcast is half joking, but many things you say actually make a lot of sense.
It's not joking, it's tasteful talent, dare I say, wit humor (as I am hoping not scripted, otherwise it's laughable) analyzing within language, context, & history, concluding with making the point entertainingly, as you listened to the whole thing maybe, which is super rare since your attention span on average is about twitter making 'fleeting' option recently, if it keeps lowering you (not specifically but possibly) won't be able to pay attention long enough from unzipping pant to putting waste in the potty, therefore making the masses a bunch of poopy-pee-panted plebes. I delivered food to Corey Taylor once, and he was incredibly generous and really nice, to which I was thankful as I have heard some awful stories about "famous" people here.
I met him once when drove an Uber for him, he was a complete asshole.

Hey guys, neutral about balloonknot, Thanks a lot for taking the time off your days to make a new episode, it was pretty entertaining and fun, definitely one of my favorites since it features mark a bit more than usual and that guys is pretty honestly funny and he being probably pretty under the influence in one of the ads made it funnier, I'm glad you're taking it light, just getting together and shooting the shit for a while like two friends just having a laugh over a few beers. So 9 people in the band= 1 singer, 1 bass player, 3 guitar players (maybe 2 leads and a rhythm?), 1 drummer, I think 1 percussionist which is the guy playing the kegs or whatever, 1 keyboard/DJ guy. Still cant figure out what the 9th guy does. The earlier albums didnt have much lead guitar though.
I only like the first two albums. Looking back though, they were a gimmick. They never woulda got attention without the masks and having almost 10 people in the band.
Limp Bizkit sucks, obviously, and I hate Fred Durst, but I loved it when he said Slipknot "made music for angry fat kids.". Lol.
Event horizon scared me as a kid too. Dont watch it on acid I saw the movie eraserhead on acid once it fucked with me for awhile

I dont consider slipknot heavy. One of my favorite bands Converge makes good heavy music. And they only have 4 members
I never thought Slipknot was heavy. Converge, Daughters, Car Bomb, Between the Buried and Me or Dillinger Escape Plan, however.

Great podcast. I can't stand Slipknot. My Blasphemy against Slipknot is that the only reason they became famous, is because of their boiler suits and masks. If you take away their masks and boiler suits or whatever they wear nowadays, the music that they play is fairly generic metal/nu-metal. What I also don't get is why they have nine members? I get rock/metal bands with six members that are far superior like Iron Maiden, Draconian, Amorphis, Dimmu Borgir, Fields of the Nephilim, etc. I wouldn't care if Slipknot called it quits tomorrow. I have to agree 1000% with what Chad said 'music shouldn't come with a gimmick'.
