- Daniel is back again to show you how to clean Nike Air Max 1 Anniversary sneakers in “White & University Red!” This OG colorway was the first released on the Air Max 1 designed by Tinker Hatfield back in 1987. This iconic shoe returned for its 30th Anniversary, hitting Nike retailers in 2017. To begin the cleaning of the Air Max 1 Anniversary, Daniel used a dry method with the Reshoevn8r Suede/Nubuck Eraser, hitting the red suede. Not seeing much of an improvement, he continued on with the 3 Brush Laundry System. Due to the white mesh on the Nikes, they had to go through the wash 2 times to achieve the desired results. Mudguard/red will bleed upon the drying phase; as the mudguard dries it will bleed into the mesh. To prevent this try to dry the mudguard with a microfiber towel/blow dry it before air drying the shoe; if it bleeds into mesh spot clean only the area and repeat

I got a pair of 98 Haven wich the red suede bled to the mesh. I can't fix it, suede keeps bleeding. how can I do it?
this clean was pretty good... you guys should do a "How to clean classic shoes" like chuck taylors/superstars/cortez etc... Simple cleans probably but eeeevryone and even their grandparents rock classics so idk something to concider i guess...

I use a product called "Milton fluid" to bring the white mesh and side sole brilliant white . The fluid itself is used to sterilise baby bottles . Good video 👍
Does it work well?
The mess has a tendency to fray with a brushing. I’ve had to use hair clippers to shave the frayed hairs down and they looked amazing afterward. Hopefully it’s not a reoccurring theme tho.

For the best results we recommend that you throw them in the washing machine after you clean them by hand!
Did you wash the shoe in the washer with the tree in the shoe?
Yes! It will help keep the form and shape of the shoe.
I washed my Air Max 1's in the laundry without shoe trees, and the heel is now disfigured and cuts into my heel. Have you run across this??? I'm going to re-launder them to see if it reshaped the heel, but thought i'd ask too.
We haven't had that issue in the past. That's why we always recommend using the shoe tree so the shape of the shoe doesn't get messed up.

This was a pretty in depht tutorial on how to clean the shoes but i didn't hear anything about the Washing machine settings, such as temperature, centrifuge & type of laundry detergent. Maybe i missed it but could somebody help me out? Nice video tho!
Small load, cold water, and we recommend using our Sneaker Laundry Detergent.

You can remove the insole and clean separately. We typically just recommend leaving it in when it goes in the washer so it can get disinfected too.
Would two shoes be considered a bigger load or would it still be a small load?
It depends on your washing machine, but typically still a small load.

Hey how do you remove smells from brushes because I have tried soaking them in soap and it didn’t do anything
We haven't experience having our brushes smell, so it could be that you are drying them incorrectly. We recommend drying the brushes bristles down so all the water can drain instead of soaking in the wood.

Yeah unfortunately that is a risk you run with cleaning any shoes with suede on them.
Always clean the panels separately, don't let the brush or water/soap touch the other materials. If you know how to clean shoes like these or actual suede ones, it shouldn't ever happen. You can even clear out bleeds of mesh with intense brushing.
