Veil of Maya has been my favorite metalcore band since Lucas joined.
I back this!
Normally I don't do this but it's the dudes name
Lukas*
Godhead is so sick! ❤️
Such an amazing vocalist, frontman, and person. Also one of the few vocalists who jumps in the pit which adds some points.
Lukas and Spencer.... it's coming! And so am--- I mean... interview Spencer! Let's goooo! Great interview 👍 👏
man finally, i fucking love VOM, the hype is on the sky
Lukas Magyar is the GOAT of metalcore vocals imo. Extremely versatile in both cleans and screams. Can do extremely brutal deathcore stuff to emotional and poppy. I heard he also has a company that promotes bands and that's really cool too.
It would be very cool if you were to get Marc Okubo also!! good interview
Two of the GOATS coming together! 🐐🔥 Loved watching this, huge love fellas! 🖤
I like that Lukas mentioned Chevelle. Such a good band
Thank you so much for this interview, so I sum up some important things:
- The 2 Lukas' favorite songs from the band are Mikasa and Outsider
- The songs that were saved from the 2019 cancelled album are Viscera and Outsider
- Mikasa is a special song to Lukas because it was his audition song to enter the band
- Outsider speaks about the Joker (enemy of Batman)
- Lukas doesn't have any favorite current Metal band
- Lukas has other side projects beside Veil Of Maya, mainly a hiphop project (so he knows rapping)
I personally hope very strongly that the band will rescue more songs from the 2019 cancelled album, Viscera and Outsider are excellent songs
Great interview with a great frontman. Can't wait to see VoM live again.
I've been looking for new stuff from Veil lately and holy fuck this dropped out of nowhere - thank you Metalbirb!
There's info on the new VOM?? Whyyy do I have to be at work right now? I wanna watch this haha. Matriarch is one of the best modern day metalcore if you wanna call it that albums ever. Such a perfect balance of the best things about this genre and also perfect songwriting. Outrun and members only were awesome too. Looking forward to watching this.
Tldr the album is done and they've already shot a few videos. Apparently it's gonna be heavier than matriarch and it won't include any hip hop elements but will include pop references and metalcore vibes.
It’s interesting the connection they make with VoM fans and DGD fans because I finally became a hardcore DGD fan after seeing them live when I went to see VoM last year. Obviously I knew who DGD was and I liked a few songs but I showed up to see VoM and had an open mind to all music and instantly became hooked on DGD and the last year I’ve been bingeing DGD thanks to VoM
great podcast, thanks
Thank you both for all these cool insights. Can't wait for the new VoM, been on board since Matriarch but love the full disco from start to finish. Thank you very much!
Awesome interview! Can't wait for some new Veil \m/
Saw VoM last week live for the first time. Utterly amazing.
I remember seeing them perform live in Rochester NY right after Matriarch just released. The Bassist and Lukas were the most down to earth people. Marc looked at my like a deer in headlights when my cousin and I asked him for a picture 🤣.
False Idol still slaps
Hell yeah, the whole band's performance on that album was insane
Godhead is not just a great Veil of Maya or metalcore song, it's a great song of any kind of metal.
Loved this interview! Great insight into the mind of Lukas. I met him and he’s such a sweet and down to earth guy.
That’s everybody says about like every band member they meet. They’re always “down to earth”. Not trying to be mean, just funny to me is all !
Great interview Metalbirb. That’s insane Lukas lives in Minneapolis! I live about 20 mins away from there
It has been 1,908 days since the last VOM album. This is not ok 😭
I AGREE
1938 days now
Saw them with Born of Osiris back in august. Veil sounded just like the record
Still nuts that they had an album put together that we will never hear.
Members Only was a track from it. I loved that direction but they had issues with their producer so that album got shelved. Wish it would get released at SOME point.
We need a double album this year.
He sounds so good live. I don’t care for VOM but my lord were they good live!
Oh let’s fucking go! Can’t wait to dive into this! 🤘
my god the food opinions were flawless, i have never agreed more with someone than with lukas in that section lol

Red Fur is my fave out of the more recent singles.
I thought I was the only metalhead digging Harry Styles 😏
I stopped listening to VOM since Lukas joined. Now I listen only to instrumental versions. Would anyone help me see it differently?

I think Mark Holcomb of Periphery is involved with Blackbox studio, or at least has been there lately
Maaaan I got into an argument with my buddy about “Members only” being related to the show Stranger Things and he didn’t agree haha I’m certain I was right now!!!
VOM is cool but kinda cringey that he takes influence from pop singer, it doesn't help at all because when people call metalcore not metal, that way it seems like it really is not.
Doesn't really matter if it's metal or not. Genre hasn't actually mattered for a long time. It's either you like it or you don't. You find them cool, so think they're cool! Genre only matters to people who want to gatekeep and that keeps metal and rock inaccessible and sterile 👎🏿
Stick to Legos kid.
Influences can come from anywhere. What matters is the final product, and VOM is top tier Metalcore.
Who the fuck cares. As a guitar player I also listen to pop vocalists for influence on my vibrato.
This comment is cringey.
