Why Did Gus Kill Victor? The REAL Reason! - Breaking Bad Explained
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 тра 2024
- In Breaking Bad, drug kingpin Gustavo Fring kills his henchman Victor, in the episode Box Cutter - season 4, episode 1, when he could have easily killed Jesse Pinkman, Walter White or Mike Ehrmantraut. But why did Gus choose to kill Victor? What were the deeper reasons?

3 reasons
1.- He was seen at the murder scene
2.- he left his car at the murder scene
3.- he started cooking without permission from Gus
there saved you 12 min
Victor didn't have the makings of a varsity meth cook.
Small hands, that was Victor's problem.
Victor: "SON OF A BITCH!"
I was ashamed to face my friends@@lean.2366
Passion was there but physically couldn’t hack it
And he made grill cheese in the meth lab
Gus killed Victor because Victor got made as a witness.
Exactly.
Yes, it was fairly obvious when *Mike asked him if he was seen at Gale's apartment.
He flew too close to the sun. Got his throat cut.
It's told to us clear as day. I don't know how this is even a talking point.
Don’t need a 11 minute video to explain that! SMH!!
Gus did it because Victor didn’t bring his fucking shine-box
Victor also wasn’t made
He don’t shine shoes no more
OOOOOH!!
😂 🍻
Victor wanted to do twenty $&”@; years!
It was revenge for Billy Batts. And a lot of other things.
There was nothing we could do about it.

@@ddfdfufff9170And dats dat..
It was some real greaseball shit😂
where's the telephone booth? im gonna knock it down
Walt was actually roasting Victor so hard Gus thought itd be best to just put Victor out of his misery
I just finished binging the show last night after never watching it before. I was very impressed and it’s probably my all-time favorite show behind the Sopranos.
You should try Mr Inbetween
Then you need to watch The Wire
@@Grandmaster-Kushword
I don't mind saying this but my estimation of Breaking Bad as a show just fucken skyrocketed
I just got done binge watching the sopranos for the first time. But I'm still on the breaking bad train. That's still my favorite show of all time, even though the sopranos is amazing
I’m general Gus usually has multiple reasons before he acts, and in this situation he needed to reassert control and killing Victor was the most expeditious way. I think Victor being at the crime scene combined with the need to intimidate Walter are the two biggest reasons. Victor and Mike showed a lack of judgement and attention to detail in this situation, so I think he was sending a message to Mike as well. Presumably everything you listed played a role in this decision. It was the right move.
Weird to call it the right move lol but you're right, it was the best move Gus could make
Victor got killed cause he failed his job simple as that
He killed him because of Gale being found and killed. Victor should of protected Gale and that information.
Not to mention to shit Walt up
Boom, I don’t have to watch the video 😂
Because Victor showed up at the apartment after Gale was killed
Lol no, its because he was seen at the apartment
This wasn't a mystery. *Mike asked him if he was seen at Gale's apartment.
Yup. Dumb video
*Mike did
I’m sure he mentioned it to Gus on the phone too
Still, the dude loyally worked for Gus for years, you'd think Gus would have at least made it quick
@@BLUEPELICAN234 My error, I havent seen it since it first aired.
@@DBCooper01Gus has no loyalty to anybody
I never had the feeling he was trying to prove his worth, I think he was trying to show Walt and Jesse weren't needed anymore, and that is the impression he still had when Gus arrived and he smiled. I've always thought him knowing the formula is the reason Gus killed him, but you make some good points about other reasons.
Victor was seen at the crime scene and Gus wanted to prove a point to Walter.
Victor failed him and police had a sketch of him, his doesn’t keep loose ends like that.
To me it was Gus saying to everyone in the room " this is what happens when you outlive your use". All four of them had screwed up and Gus had a point to prove so he viciously murdered the one guy in the room that was now not just useless, but a liability
All wrong. He really killed him cause he ate his Lo mein out the break room fridge 🤷🏾♂️
I thought you had already discussed this for some reason
No it’s that weird badger guy who explains the most obvious stuff.
Think you thinking of Bully Whispers
some dude using ai voicework did a really shitty video
U wanted to be one way, but it’s the other way
I think you nailed it. Gus was proving to Walter that its not all about profit, made easier by the fact that Victor made himself a liability through a number of failures in the Gale situation.
Jessie: Hey Walt! When Gus was talking about greasing Gale, it's not what he meant.
Mike: Ha Ha Ha.
The cue stick, I wonder, was it chalked?
Your nephews, whatever happened there...
Oh ffs, it was a joke!
Gus took the full measure on Victor.. He never authorized Victor to cook.. he was hired as a body man.
That is one of the reasons!
Great work, Cine! Good to see your videos finally being recommended!
I can't believe the jesse staring back at gus went over my head after all my rewatches
This video was pretty good! Would like to see you do more Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul content in the future.
Also, I love how at the end Mike was surprised walt and Jesse knew how to dispose of a body in the acid. It was rich 😄

I swear if vivid kiwi doesn’t post his season 4 tier list I’m going to freak out

I'd love more videos on Breaking Bad and Better Calll Saul.
More videos on breaking bad please. The way you break down a video is so smart.
I went to NYSP program with this dude. Jeremiah something. My other friends went to Menaul Catholic school with him. When I first met him when we were like 15 I think. He said he was in a movie. And we didn’t believe him. Then we watched natural born killers and he was in it!!!!! The little Indian kid when the native guy gets shot.
Wait!So the guy who played Victor was also in NBK?
He killed Victor for the same reason why Tuco killed nodoze, basically they both flew too close to the sun. Both of those guys stepped out of line, but in Victor‘s case, he also got seen as a witness at apartment, but when he decided to take it upon himself to start adding nosy gradients like he can cook without Gus permission he pretty much showed that he would do things whenever he wants to do them making Gus look weak. He ended up being a perfect person to show Walter and Jesse that he did not play and also he showed Mike that his rules are to be followed to the letter, and the reason I say is the same as why Tuco killed nodoze is because Tuco warned him once already don’t speak for him out of turn. See when you are boss like those guys you are a complete chain and you can’t show no weak link in your chain or it will be broken eventually so when they got out of hand, they had a weak part of the chain, and they eliminated it.
Great analysis!! Soo astute!
Victor wanted it to be one way, but it was the other way.
Some sad shit. Mfer said he didn’t want to live no more.
My favorite part is when Walter White says " I'm breaking bad."
Gus was beyond pissed, and Victor was the one expendable person in the room.
Victor was made. They show a fairly accurate sketch of the dude. Gustavo don’t play with that sheit
Victor was a liability with zero worth to Gus. The other three, however still had some value. Someone was gonna die that night.. it was just a question of who.
I thonk Gus saw Victor's attempt and his arrogant mockery of it being easy was an insult to Gale and whole operation, so Gus took it personally and pragmaticly in multiple ways
People don’t seem to agree but the breaking bad vids are great imo. I’d love to see an in-depth bb/bcs scene analysis, similar to the ones that you have done with sopranos
I think you nailed it. The first time I watched the series and that happened from the moment Victor smiled. I felt like he had fucked up. Also when Mike starts asking him if anyone saw him.
Remember, everyone in this show is very cautious about not getting caught for the things they do. It’s that kind of show where if someone becomes a liability that can lead back to them they’ve got to go. That’s exactly what happened with Victor. He let Gail get killed, and he was seen by the witnesses.
To tell walt: “you’re only alive as long as you make me money”
A few reasons:
1) He was seen at the scene of Gale’s murder
2) He inadvertently led Jesse to Gale’s apartment, making Gale’s murder possible.
3) He started to cook without permission, which both shows a potentially dangerous initiative AND could screw up the lab as Victor won’t know (as Walt points out) how to save things should something go wrong during the cook.
4) Gus is making the point to Walt and Jesse (and possibly Mike) that any of them are disposable. In this moment, the only one who is truly disposable is Victor. He needs Walt to cook, and Walt won’t cook if he kills Jesse, so that rules them out. Mike, on the other hand, is too integral to Gus’s plans as his second in command, and I think on some level Gus knows that Mike has probably made precautions so that if Gus kills Mike, it will result in Gus’s cover being blown. So the only disposable one is Victor, who also just completely shat the bed with respect to Gale AND overstepped his role in Gus’s organization by attempting to cook without Gus’s approval.
5) I definitely think it is plausible that Gus and Gale were at least friends and possibly lovers (or interested in that way) and as such Gus really wants someone to blame and take his anger out on. As I said above, Gus knows the only truly disposable person who is in some way responsible for Gale’s death is Victor, so Victor gets the box cutter.
Remember the 4 steps of planning:
1: make the plan
2: execute the plan
3: expect the plan to go off the rails
4: throw away the plan
I think there's multiple reasons.
1. Victor was seen at the death of Gale
2. Victor started the new cook on his own without Gus' permission
3. To show Walt & Jesse that nobody is indispensable.
4. He was angry
Mike *didn't* "pull a gun on Gus." That's outright false. Rather, he was pointing it at Victor in case he somehow survived and started to fight back.
Huh? Lyle cleaning the dryer was to have a alibi, to have control over the one person he could without fear of revenge, and he knew he could count on without fail.
*FRYER NOT DRYER
This show literally got better season after season
Facts
Victor was identified by a witness when he arrived at Gales apartment after Jessie kills him. He fled the scene but when Gus is brought in for questioning by Hank and his DEA cohorts Gus see a police sketch of Victor. Victor Fate was sealed right there Gus had to kill Victor before the police picked him up and took Down the whole meth operation. This was a great analysis of Gus, Victor, Jessie Gale and Walt but in my opinion that is what really did Victor in and Gus used it as an opportunity to send a message to Walt, Jessie and Mike.
After Walt owned Victor that savagely, what else was he supposed to do?
1. To make a point to Walter, and Mike (see 3.)
2. Because Victor was seen by witnesses at Gale's apartment
3. Because Victor allowed the entire situation to transpire by not keeping a closer eye on Walter
When you rewatch you realize Walt was always a hothead. First episode he attacks kids making fun of jr. Ends with killing Mike
Gus put Victor out of his misery after Walt roasted the ever living shit out of him.
I agree with your assessment of why Gus killed victor, however I always felt like the reason that Mike punched Walt is that Walt had just proposed a plan to kill Gus and Mike is saying get that out of your mind, that would be suicide and so by punching Walt he drove his point home.
You know Quasimoto predicted all this.
Him being witnessed at the scene is not a reason why Gus killed him. Mike told him to go... He was following orders. What got him killed was cooking when he wasn't supposed to. Being insubordinate gets you fired.
I'd like to see more videos on Oz... That's why I'm here!
He flew too close to the sun
Gus did it because Victor never had the makings of a varsity cook
This scene also lends weight to my theory that Gus was once a drug running military man in Chile. Hector already called him Generalissimo, but look at the traits Gus has. He runs his empire almost like a military unit. He has connections made back when he had power. And most importantly, I think as a general in a brutal regime, this is not the first throat that he has slit. I fully believe that younger Gus was in uniform, did deals with the cartel, and when someone failed him, he cut their throats. Then the regime fell, Gus destroyed all evidence of his existence, took his bf Max, and with the help of Peter Schuller, they escaped Chile. And then when he tried to get back into the game, Hector killed Max to show Gus that he is no longer a person in power. Gus only lost his cool there, because a loved one was killed. When they do have the sit down, Max is the one in a panic, and Gus is the chill one.
See CineRanter, mosey on in, was rewarded with a “succulent throat slash” ;)
I do believe that the Better Call Saul episode when Gus killed the undead Lalo was preparation for this scene. Gus had been a drug kingpin who had men with guns.
I believe that Gus found out that he kinda liked killing people. He might have done it under Pinochet as well, but it is reasonable to believe that he hadn't killed a man in a long time.
Gus Fring saw the opportunity to give the chemistry workers a symbolic play of sorts to establish his level of seriousness about controlling his empire. Having found his enjoyment of doing the dirty work of killing with the death of Lalo, his inhibitions against killing no longer existed.
Victor gave Gus his life on a silver platter, and this is how he’s repaid.
I think the name of the episode...box cutter...was every bit as much a reference to the ruthless killer beneath the polite businessman being exposed.
Victor was spotted at Gale's apartment and it's the only link that could lead to Gus. (As far as he knows, anyway).
What's great about this scene is that Gus most certainly had his mind made up the moment he was informed of the details in this situation, but he slowly takes his time letting Walt stew in fear for his life as long as he can because he's pissed he out smarted him. I still remember the shock when I first saw this, but it's also great on rewatches watching Gus relish in the theatrics of putting fear into his enemy, followed by a gruesome murder, showing little to no emotion. All calculated. I can't explain it, but it's like Gus's way of saying, "yea, you got me, but now you have to think about this while you cook for me."
I still think it's because Gus wanted to kill Walt but couldn't, so he took his frustration out on Victor.
I cant believe how many people dont notice Gus noticing Jesse staring back at him as Victor bleeds out, and that being the moment where he "saw something" in Jesse(maybe a combination of that and when he stood up to Gus in his office when meeting with his dealers). Gus noticed this and thought, this kid isnt just some useless junkie, he has heart....and is loyal.
It is not really a question why he did it. Nobody saw Jesse kill Gale but a hallway full of neighbors saw Victor (someone who they knew wasn’t a tenant as they never had seen him before).
This would be a great show to cover more on.
It wad revenge for Lyle.
The same reason Gus's lover was killed
Lover’s quarrel, maybe
@@SuspiciousFaceLook we all know who did it
good job
Victor never had the makings of a varsity athlete
Jessie had the biggest arc in the show
he did it to make the shows season finale more interesting
Before watching the video my take is because like he had amibitions of moving up Gus knew he’d then look to take out Gus and become the new kingpin and he appeared to be Mexican so he could also cut Gus out and go straight to the cartel. Also this regains power over Walter and puts him in line.
he stepped out of line. he tried to do something he wasnt told to do. plane and simple. 🍻
If he didn’t we wouldn’t be here watching this video
did you have to pronounce methamphetamine like that lol
He had to gooooo
I think he killed Gus because of the CULMINATION of all the things mentioned. I think individually he wouldn't have done it but all together and in such a close time frame coupled with the loss of his ww replacement he was done with Victor. He's shown that individual mistakes are not a huge issue he looked past them on multiple occasions. It's multiple and especially vagrant mistakes that he can't stand .
Victor didn’t have that dog in him
The truth is that he killed him because Victor was cooking up a new chicken recipe that would've put Pollos out of business.
Never out shine the master.
It's simple. Gus was having a bad hair day. It happens...
why is jesse so protected? Walt has 3 family members at home
One thing about Gus and John Sacrimoni, they were both perceived to be pragmatists, while they were not! They weren't loyle to their accomplises
Plot Twist:
Lyle was going to University of New Mexico as a chemistry student.😐
Victor got involved with stuff that didn’t concern him. It pissed off Gus.
Because it was in the script.
How is this video just coming out? What hasn’t already been established years ago?
I love to call Breaking Bad a fantasy TV show, simply because in reality, a guy like Walter White does not win in the end, he would've been killed off with the quickness, no matter how minor or major a threat. Gus killed Victor as a reminder & a warning to Walt that he could kill him wherever, whenever & replace him like it was nothing. Regardless of the quality of his meth, his empire would've went on just fine without Walt. But that was also Gus' downfall. Aside from the fact that Walt was really lucky, Gus did manage to underestimate him in the sense that he knew that he could get rid of Walt whenever he pleased, costing him his life. He thought very little of Walt & should've gotten rid of him as soon as possible.
Albeqerque? Glorified street gang
Honestly the smart move would have been to kill Jesse. Walter is a worm that will do anything to survive. If Gus killed Jesse it would show that he isnt fucking around and that if Walter doesnt cook then he is next.
