@@RyanKingArt Seriously, it's a good tutorial. You start by summarizing what you're going to talk about, then you talk about it. You might say 'awesome' a few too many times, but that's a minor point. :) Also, you didn't once say, "Let's go ahead and...," a word whisker that's faaaaaaar too common in tutorials these days. (I watched a tutorial recently where the presenter said, "let's go ahead and..." no less than 15 times in ten minutes!) You cover the material clearly, concisely, and without correcting yourself part-way through (shows you're doing a good bit of rehearsing beforehand). Finally, I understood every word without having to turn on CC. I did have a few problems getting the same results you got, but that turned out to be because of my preferences (which are a bit unorthodox). But, after a bit of digging, I got it sorted out and for anyone else who might be having trouble, here are a few tips: If the HDRI isn't visible in the viewport: - make sure the viewport is in Perspective mode, not Orthographic (Numpad 5 toggle), - Viewport Shading must be set to either Material Preview or Rendered, - in the Shading drop-down next to the Viewport Shading icons, Scene World must be checked, and - when Viewport Shading is set to Rendered, make sure to UNcheck Render (properties) > Film > Transparent. If the HDRI isn't showing in a final render: - again, Render (properties) > Film > Transparency needs to be unchecked.

Learning Mandarin Chinese is easier than learning Blender. I'm only learning it because I have to for a project at work. I can't wait to get back to Maya and C4D. But your tutorials are keeping me from throwing my fist through the monitor and I thank you.
Hello Ryan, 1st thank you for taking the time to post such an easy tutorial. I need your help. I am working in 2.91 and after adding the mapping node I tried rotating the lighting but I see no movement at all. Any idea what may be the problem?
So basically i want to use an hdri for a render that i made a spaceship and i made some windows and windshield interior to show the interior i know i shoul make an another model for the interior but this was an old abandoned project like a month ago and i didn't realise at that time i am a newbie so i just wanted to finish it i need a outer space hdri but i can't find one i need one for the reflections on the window
I along with another user here am having trouble locating that "Easy HDRI" Add-On within preferences. I am on a Mac computer so that may be the reason? Not sure if you have any insight!
Hmm, I only use Linux, so I have no idea if it works on Mac and Windows, although Blender should be exactly the same between operating systems. You should be able to download and install the Addon though a download link at the bottom of this page: codeofart.com/easy-hdri-2-8/
Hey Ryan, i thought you could change HDR from drop down menu in 3d viewport where the mat style is at top right. I changed it there and could see the HDR, but when I went to render it wasnt visible. Is this required to do it this way for it to actually render out in the background and does changing it in that drop down just work as a lighting on the model without being visible in the background? Thanks!
@@RyanKingArt my point was that it seems that some people reckon that using a detailed HDRI to light a scene is wrong as it only looks right from certain positions. so with a large outdoor scene its maybe better to use the built in sky texture
@@user-tu7rh2hr1n Sorry, I have no idea why that it happening. I just tried it out and it works fine for me. Do you have a depth of field on the camera? That could cause background blurring. You could also make a post about it, on the Blender Stack Exchange. And hopefully someone can help you.

This doesn't work for me. Is it due to using Cycles?
This works in Eevee and Cycles, so there shouldn't be a problem there. I was using Cycles in the tutorial. What exactly isn't working?
my hdri did not appear in the scene when I followed this...can someone help? thank you! : )
did you make sure to go into the rendered viewport mode?
I have asked this in a few other channels, but do yuo not have to light the scene with a blurry HDRI and use the higher res image for the background?
you could do that, yes.
@@RyanKingArt my point was that it seems that some people reckon that using a detailed HDRI to light a scene is wrong as it only looks right from certain positions. so with a large outdoor scene its maybe better to use the built in sky texture
Hey bro
In cycles its working fine but in evee its blurry even the 8k hdri is blurry in evee.
Plz tell how to do this in evee
That may be because your in material preview., instead of rendered mode. It should work the same when you render it.
@@RyanKingArt no its blurry
