Mr Gene I don't know if you will see this I lost my dad a couple of years ago. he loved watching your videos and it inspired him to keep fishing even when he felt bad from cancer treatments. Thank you for your positivity, it made my dad's last days a little easier to bear. In his coffin at his funeral he had on your hat that said " Go fishing when you can, cause it's good fer ya ! " Thank you and God bless from his grateful son
I'm sorry you lost your Dad! My prayers to you and your family and all who loved him! Richard brings so many of us Joy and I'm so glad it eased your dad's suffering even if it was just a bit! May your Dad rest in peace & God bless you and yours! 🙏✌️ And remember....WOoooooo!
Richard Gene, in this day and age, you are a bright light shining on my life! I use so many of your technique and tackle suggestions that people wonder how I can sit right next to them and catch fish, while they're not even getting bites. Thank you for helping me enjoy my retirement at least 5 times more than I would have on my own!
I enjoy your channel and your approach to teaching us dummies a thing or two. Your sense of humor is second to and your fishing is first class. Just wanted to share this with you
Richard your channel is so refreshing to watch your techniques and simplicity. I am getting more and more into panfishing by watching how you simplify how much fun our sport can be. Bass fishing and most of the channels I use to watch is so driven by electronics they have destroyed in my opinion tournament fishing. Thank you for staying true to how you built your channel. God Bless you and Mama Sue.
Palomar knot has done you right. No need to change. I am using the Fish-N-Fool knot, also called the improved Uniknot. Latest test I have watched demonstrates the Fish-N-Fool knot is the strongest knot to tie, stronger than a Palomar. However, clearly the Palomar Knot works great.
I use a modified uni knot I saw how to tie this on Tyler Bergers channel. He showed and tested each knot. He used braid, you can tie this knot onto monofilament line. The braid was 50 lbs the knot held up to over 50lb. This is how affective the modified uni knot is.
Oh yea Richard I remember as a kid in the Florida panhandle, pulling those big ole dinner plate sized shellcracker out of Merritt’s Mill Pond in Marrianna. Good memories!
You brought alot of light into my life with your videos i wanted to let you know got my family to learn alot through fishing it has taught us enless amounts of lessons but the one that it keeps teaching us is patience and love for the outdoors something we were missing for over 5 or so years just being boring and stressed now we try to catch small bass to decent size bluegills at our local river . I heard these guys at my pond catching crappie and they said "i told you i would catch one right there !!! I learn that from richardthefishing i was so surpised how much views your videos get they even reach my mexican friends such as my self thanks richard for being such a kind hearted youtuber and teaching us how to have fun with what we got. no need for special or elite gear to do so your awesome and wish you the best with youre youtube career man. ❤
I was expecting you to be catching bluegill and red breast and here you were catching the best eating fish swimming in water instead. Thanks once again, Richard. You know I jump in the boat any time you ask. Some bluegill trivia: something few people know and assume wrong. A bluegill gets its name not from the "ear flap" but from the blue coloration all along the bottom of their gill flaps.
Classic creek fishing with ultra lite. Rocky would have been right there with you on that. And probably would have brought some Viennas and some honey buns Lol. Great video thanks ❤
Great info and video Richard thank you for all you do to help us catch more fish, you my friend are the best teacher ever, you walk us throw step by step on what to do. God's blessings always! 😇
i think you are the most educational teacher on youtube, thank you for all the info that i hav past on to people that comes into my shop.keep up the great video's !! need momma sue back on!!
From Iowa don’t have the same kind of streams or as many. But thousands of ponds not all high quality but fun anyway. All have bass and bluegill some crappies and catfish. I have a nice boat but it’s not a 75.000$ that l lot of other channels have. Thanks for your down to earth tips !!
Richard id been trying to hook some shellcrakcer I could see at one of my spots, I could see em but never got em to commit, this video came out the night before I went and I ended up with 10 eaters and countless others I tossed back. Watching this channel is entertaining and has increased my success 100 fold
R G F M I VE BEEN WATCHING YOU FOR QUITE A WHILE & THANKS FOR KEEPIN IT REAL & NOT SOUNDING LIKE A COMMERCIAL HOPE MAMA SUE IS DOING WELL ALL THE BEST TO YOU BROTHER & REMBER FISHING IS A SPORT SECOND TO NONE !!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mr. Gene, Thank you for the great advice, I went down to Walmart and grabbed some 4lb viscous high vis, some #6 eagle claw bronze hooks, and some red worms. I then proceeded to shades creek here in Hoover, AL and got bites or fish on almost every cast. Nothing big but I’ve got the concept now!
There are so many UA-cam fishing channels but Richard Gene is the best out of all of them him and kayak catfishing they are the best if you want to learn how to fish no matter what kind of fish it is Richard Gene will teach you how to fish for them see I used to only be a cat fisherman watching some of his videos make me go try different fish species my favorite smallmouth bass
Thank you, Mr. Richard, for a great video. Love creek fishing, as long as there's fish in there. Richard, thank you for all the knowledge and tips that you share with us. God bless y'all and stay safe out there on the water.
I was pan fishing the other day and didn't have a small split shot sinker, but did have a small swivel with a little weight to it. I just cut a little bit of line to make a leader and tied it on. It worked great and don't know why I never thought of it before. Polymer knot on both sides of swivel and on hook. Give her a try Mr. Gene
I really don’t like mosquitos. I get giant welts from the bites. Sometimes if I get several in the same area like ankles or elbows, I’ll swell up pretty badly.
Gene, I have one of those light blue toy Zebcos for my kiddo. Changed the line and put a #10 mustad on it, he caught fish like no other. Thanks for the vids!
Richard, before I started watching this video I saw the picture of the same worms I got from Walmart this morning and told my wife that I fished in a huge lake this morning, Lake Lanier, (I think the name should be changed to small sunfish), and Richard is fishing in this shallow creek and is going to catch huge fish. Then I read my wife your Scriptures for the day, and we both laughed at Isaiah 43:2. 😂
Hey Richard I was wondering if you might have kind of a class on fishing line , what type should be used and when and where . When to use fluorocarbon or mono, or braided.
Gonna have to check out those worms, the nightcrawlers don't hold up to good this time of the year, Thanks for the tip, great show, and Thanks for what you do !
I've searched everywhere for this 2lb Vicious Hi-Vis mono, and cannot find it anywhere, online or at any tackle shop. The 4lb test is the lightest line available as of Oct 26.
RG, have you ever tried tying a small (trimmed) rubber band on the line and then crimping the split shot to the rubberband? It has worked for me in the past. It slips sometimes, but it doesn't hurt my line.
I still own one of the old school metal worm pouches that hooks on your belt but never use it anymore. After this video I'm definitely going to use it again.
I been somehow struggling with fishing recently. Really need to see this video im going to get out the ultralight gear and chase some panfish this week and leave them ole catfish alone for a few days
Richard I need help I'm trying to tie the polomar know and having trouble getting the doubled line through the small eyes of small hooks. I'm using six pound monofilament line. How do you get it threw them. Thanks sir I watch every time you come on
I believe what Richard is trying to say you can't do nothing and expect an end result. You have to do something to obtain a positive result. I got you Richard.
It depends on the time of year really. I might fish once a week some weeks and then others nearly everyday. Sometimes just 3-4 hours, sometimes daylight to dark. God bless and thank you for watching! Glad you enjoy the videos!
How do you know what part of the lake to fish with live shad or live shiners in August? 300 acre lake central Missouri. 18 foot is deepest water. Live shad everywhere in this lake.
Just a split shot tip: lay a section of rubber band in the split shit then crimp it on the line. The rubber band will keep it from sliding and keep it from damaging your line.
ole Richard I’m thinking you don’t have to work as hard as you used to. I see you’re staying busy in the yard. Busy as a bee I’m thinking with all these people typing all these words in for you. You would have to have a staff to cover all these comments. Hope to see you at the 35 bridge Scottsboro, one of these days😊
Mr Gene I don't know if you will see this I lost my dad a couple of years ago. he loved watching your videos and it inspired him to keep fishing even when he felt bad from cancer treatments.

Richard makes the world a little better every time shares his life and love for fishing.
Richard you are the greatest fisherman and content creator this world has ever seen.
When Sir Richard comes on y'all need to ear up and listen. God bless y'all
Priceless knowledge on tackle and technique...! Richard is a fantastic teacher...
Yall be real quiet folks while i catch this fish 🤣 this man is a legend ! Thanks Richard !!
Richard has helped more people catch fish than any other person on the planet simply b/c he cares! Thanks RGTFM!!!
I enjoy the enthusiasm in your speech
Always. Enjoy. Richard. Greatly
I enjoy your channel and your approach to teaching us dummies a thing or two. Your sense of humor is second to and your fishing is first class. Just wanted to share this with you
I use a tiny bobber stop (the rubber ones, not the string) to keep my split shots from sliding down my line
I use the Palomar knot as it's so simple for these 68 year old fingers to tie. The eyes and fingers don't work well so the Palomar is my go-to.

I saw this on Tyler Bergers knot, it's also known as the modified uni knot. I use this alot best knot ever. 😊
Listening to Richard always brings a smile to my face!
Amazing start to the show Richard!!! MONSTER Shellcracker!!! Wooooooo weeeeeeeeeee
Hi Mr. Richard. Thank you for another great teaching segment. I wish you and your family all the best.

Love the new updates on the house, Richard you should give us a yard tour

Thank you. Nice to hear someone else say it. For panfish I want the wimpiest rod I can find.I love them for this particular kind of fishing.
Redears are my favorite to catch. They are the hardest fighters and probably my most favorite to eat. Nice video. Thank you.

Sounds like a winner Richard Gene the fishing machine.
I love Richard dean! So humble, And the man can really fish. Also, I really like owner hooks. They are my 2nd favorite hook.
We would love it if you made an Amazon store for all your fishing gear.
Great job Richard! Thank you!
God bless you and your family Mr Richard and thank you for the videos your one of a kind and I appreciate you!
Siempre certero en tus comentarios sobre como lograr una buena pesca y que usar para lograrlo, mis respetos Richard.
WOOOO, you consistently have the best fishing videos !
like i said to rocky you guys are "second to none" the best on youtube in my book
Just fished Lake Gaston this week. Caught some monster red ears. That fishery is awesome for them.
Great job Richard , those guys were huge.
Always fun to watch you fish!
Another great one Richard. God bless you Sir.

I use the uniknot most of the time for all species. I do use some loop knots while jigging deep for crappie or other panfish.
Loved the videos as always. Thanks 🐟on
When the Machine posts, I watch ‼️
Thank you for another great video!
You do the best job explaining things. Hope yuns have a goodun!
I don’t rightly know how you do it Richard but you just keep catching em one atter another! You got skills man!!!!
those skeeters are great forage for the bluegills when they're in the larval stage.
I really don’t like mosquitos. I get giant welts from the bites. Sometimes if I get several in the same area like ankles or elbows, I’ll swell up pretty badly.
@@smelltheglove2038 get a tube of hydrocortisone. Fix you right up
Gene, I have one of those light blue toy Zebcos for my kiddo. Changed the line and put a #10 mustad on it, he caught fish like no other. Thanks for the vids!
Lol Richard, you are funny and helpful. I'm going out on a limb and gonna say that dish should be around 3/4 of a pound. God bless you, sir. WOO!!
Thanks. So much fun.
Hey Richard I was wondering if you might have kind of a class on fishing line , what type should be used and when and where . When to use fluorocarbon or mono, or braided.
Richard Gene........thank you and God Bless!!! WOOO!!!!! I wish we were neighbors......we would have a blast together!!!!!
Awesome video Richard 🔥🔥🔥🎣🎣🎣wooooooooooooo
Thanks for the tips an tricks brother. God bless
You’re the best man!!
This man should have ALOT more followers
Richard, thanks for taking us along! When using worms under a bobber, for panfish, do you hook the worm the same way?
Gonna have to check out those worms, the nightcrawlers don't hold up to good this time of the year, Thanks for the tip, great show, and Thanks for what you do !
That's the same way we do it in Amelia, Virginia on the Appomattox river whooo😅
A place like that will get your mind right!
WOW super nice red ear from the creek
Excellent Richard !!
Went from Weed Whacking to Fish Whispering in seconds flat.
Let's go fishing Mr. Gene!
I use that vicious line all the time for crappie. It's good but I must admit 4 is the smallest I use
I've searched everywhere for this 2lb Vicious Hi-Vis mono, and cannot find it anywhere, online or at any tackle shop. The 4lb test is the lightest line available as of Oct 26.
👍 Always has great info
RG, have you ever tried tying a small (trimmed) rubber band on the line and then crimping the split shot to the rubberband? It has worked for me in the past. It slips sometimes, but it doesn't hurt my line.

You are that guy!!
You should have brought Momma Sue slipnslidetakeadunk Bob to hepp you catch supper!🤣😆🤣😂😆🤣 thanks for the video..Wooooo!!😂👍
I been somehow struggling with fishing recently. Really need to see this video im going to get out the ultralight gear and chase some panfish this week and leave them ole catfish alone for a few days
We need some more worm or jig bass fishing videos 😂😂
Richard I need help I'm trying to tie the polomar know and having trouble getting the doubled line through the small eyes of small hooks. I'm using six pound monofilament line. How do you get it threw them. Thanks sir I watch every time you come on
I believe what Richard is trying to say you can't do nothing and expect an end result. You have to do something to obtain a positive result. I got you Richard.
Go fishing when ya can because it's gooooooood for ya!!❤
Thank you
I always wrap the line around the weight twice b4 crimping the split shot so it don't slip.
When should I be hitting the water for fall Crappies? I live in the northern region
Just wonder? Do you lose a lot of warms just hooking them once like do fish take your bait often or do they usually just inhale it all in one bait
How many hours a week. Do you fish? Thank you for all the videos. You got me back into fishing again. Thank you Sir 🙂

Live shad everywhere in this lake.
Nice fish.

Would love to go out with you sometime Richard. I’m right down the road. Keep on keeping on!
I was trying to be quiet! You made me laugh today, thank you! Any chance you'll do some fly fishing soon?
ole Richard I’m thinking you don’t have to work as hard as you used to. I see you’re staying busy in the yard. Busy as a bee I’m thinking with all these people typing all these words in for you.
