I bought the 116710LN recently for $12,500. I bought it because it was the most versatile and I liked it the most. Turns out I bought the watch with the best “bang for the buck” without even knowing it! Thanks for all the info. Great video!
Properly used, the 24 hour GMT hand should be referring to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) in England. From there, the Bezel should be rotated to define the alternate time zone offset from GMT to one of a second desired time zone. So in this way, one of the three tracked time zones is always GMT time. This way, no matter where you travel, the GMT hand should never have to be repositioned, but rather only the bezel need be repositioned. What I like about the "Batman" model, the blue color on the bezel can be interpreted to represent the part of the day when the sky is blue (daytime), while the black color of the bezel represents hours that occur when the sky is black (night time) Obviously there is more than one way to configure and use the watch.
Agree completely. That’s why the GMT II is horologically so significant. More proof that Rolex has transcended tool-watch status is the fact that most on the YT speak of setting the GMT hand to ‘home time’. Seems the true purpose of this watch has been lost. BTW, I love the 4-and-5-digits because they harken back to Rolex’s ‘tool watch’ era.
The TT Yellow GMT is a helluva bargain---shocked you overlooked it. Its essentially the same as a Rootbeer, yet typically 5-6k less.
I’ve owned the Rolex Master II - 126719BLRO Meteorite for about 18 months. I just purchased the 126720VTNR Sprite Lefty. Love the meteorite, but the hands are the same color as the face and in certain light it is very difficult to read the time. I’ve thought about replacing the with darker hands but want to keep it original.
As far as the left handed Master II, I didn’t like it at first as it was just too far out there, but it’s grown on me and being left handed, I think I’ll like it. Interesting charts. I’m older and what I would caution new Rolex buyers on is to find a watch you love and wear it. Don’t buy it as an investment because these go up and down as we’ve seen. In the long term, it will be a good investment, but it was made to wear!
I just got my first Rolex. Sprite Oyster at retail. Perfect for me. Fit perfect out of box. Already putting micro marks into the bracelet and shopping for rubber and leather straps. Keeper lifetime watch.
Great analysis, super underrated.
I’ve had my (16710) GMT-II for more than 20 years, and for me the only way these watches make sense is for the 24hr hand to be set to GMT (a.k.a UTC). When I first bought the watch I set the 24hr in all sorts of ways for my particular applications, but I quickly realised that the only winning move is to set it to GMT. The clue is that the watch is called a, “GMT Master”.
I have a 1993 Pepsi 16700 GMT Master (not the GMT Master II) with box and papers. I absolutely love it, despite it coming on an Oyster bracelet. I recently bought a Rolex jubilee bracelet to put it on, as a I prefer GMTs on a jubilee.
very insightful. Would love to see one on Sky-Dweller models.
I really love that new 2023 two tone GMT
My affordable GMT is from Pagani Design. I haven't elevated to Rolex prices yet.
I love my full rose root beer I have tan skin so it’s the best combo for me, also the bezel colours are brilliant, I got it recently and i got it under list price another good time to buy imo I don’t see it falling in price dramatically in the near future but again I buy to wear so I’m not bothered on that front, only draw back is I’m abit cautious wearing it every where it’s like driving a super car ppl who know think I’m rich so I find I hide it abit under cuff at times and another draw back is being in gold it marks very easy even cleaning it marks it so that’s not brilliant, but when I look at it I’m happy and that’s what a watch should do for you 😀
good work ‼️
I just bought the 116710LN also~ i'm in love~
this will be my next watch. if i can get a late model 126710 BLRO pepsi close to retail, i would take one, but i also like the BLNR batman shown in this vid. chances of finding a pepsi close to retail is a pipe dream, so i may just keep waiting for another market adjustment. btw, oyster bracelet only for me, as the GMT is traditionally a work horse tooling watch. the jubilee bracelet looks nice, but is not true to history / purpose. the other neg thing is that the jubilee bracelets stretch...a lot! i have a 16253 datejust with jubilee and the bracelet is very loose after 10 years of wearing. my 116500 daytona panda w/ oyster is my favorite watch to wear. i just love it.
Paid 6800 in July of 2016 for my GmTii Ceramic when there was no hype around watches. 116610LV hulk’s were 8200 and wouldn’t sell. Have times changed….
3 times zones: Home Time, NY Stock Market, Greenwich.
Brilliant 👏🏻👏🏻
Bought a used N-series 16710 in 2000 for $1800. After over 20 years on my wrist I sold it last year 😢
Thank you very much for sharing your research. Can you do one on submariners pls?
Yes, that will be coming soon!
@@WatchCharts what is your opinion on 126718grnr? price development in the next 12 months?
@@WatchCharts thank you very much 😊
I’m trying to decide whether to go with the Batman or the new Pepsi. Any advice or suggestions?!
Batman
Batman on Oyster
Can you do the same for the date just? New to the watch world. Thanks!
The true king 126710 rules them all
I really don't understand why someone would buy a white gold watch that looks almost the same as the steel version. I understand quiet wealth, but.... really?
I ended up getting the Batman on Jubilee Bracelet only because I already had a Datejust 41 on oyster and a Submariner from 2000 and wanted something different. That being said, I'm done with Rolex. Three is more than enough.
