Thank you!! I am glad it helped. Just trying to give you as much value I can in a short amount of time 👌. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
Thanks for doing this video. Just got mine done. If you have a heater and shower I recommend getting those hoses out of the way first. And you just need to take the bottom nut off the bolt on the rudder.
Compare the cost of getting it from the dealer or bakes. I have also found them on Amazon. If you let me know what what boat you have or what size you need I can try to find you one on Amazon.
@@Sunni_days yes. I actually came over here from Malibu crew to watch the video. My steering is a little stiff. The before and after of that install tells me I need to do this sooner rather than later. I have 2005 23 LSV wakesetter.
Hello sir! Im helping my dad finding a new cable for his 2004 Malibu wakesetter 23ft. Do you reckon that the cable in your bio will be compatible? Best regards, Steve from holland
Based on the information you gave me you need a 20ft cable. The one I used in the video is a 19ft, so it won’t be compatible. When you order you can just select the 20ft instead of the 19ft.
Hi, thanks for the vid. How do you remove the floorboard for access to bottom of the hull? I've removed the two screws towards the helm but it's not prying open easily and I don't want to damage it with force. Am I missing other fasteners that need to be removed? (I have a 2000 Malibu Sunsetter VLX, i think your panel is similar)
If you are talking about the floor that is on top of the fuel tank, it should be 2 or 4 screws. The screws should be located in each corner. You will need to dig through the carpet to locate them. It should still be pretty snug even with the screws removed. Good luck 🍀!!
Great video! It doesn’t seem easy to find the right cable. I also have a 2005 VLX, can you help find the right cable? I called the boat store and they said they usually take out the cable to mesure before ordering one. I don't want my boat to be out of commission while i wait. Any tips in cable selection would be great! Thanks!
Hey! This should be a helpful link. Based off this chart looks like you need a 19ft. cable. www.bakesonline.com/media/resourcelibrary/MalibuBoatsfitchart.pdf
Here's one I found on amazon. Not sure if it is an exact fit, but another subscriber I helped used a similar one and it worked great for him. amzn.to/3Pw9PCZ
So i'm changing my cable on 2016 Axis T22. I was going to try to change it without removing the sub and side panel (my steering rack is accessible as its in front of the sub)....what are the chances that the cable would have been zip tied to anything at the factory? It looks like it runs under the starboard stringer....not sure if you knew of any hiccups when installing a steering cable. Great video
Thanks for taking the time to comment. Not sure if it will be zip tied. I haven’t done one of the newer boats. I haven’t seen someone do the steering cable without removing the sub or kick panel. Let me know how it goes 👌. I’m curious 🧐. No hiccups, I originally thought the cable run over or under the gas tank, but I figured out quickly that it went up along the stringer.
What a blessing to get great accurate info in less than 5 minutes! I can't believe some of these that are 20 to 30 minutes long.

Excellent step by step instructions! Thanks for the assist Blake.
Awesome! Glad to help. Hope you are getting ready for boating this summer ☀️
Well done! My steering cable just broke. Nice to know what to expect before tackling the project.
Awesome. Glad to help.
Do you need recommendations on a new cable?

@@diyjeff1838 that’s a great boat! The Malibu Crew is a great forum with good info. Yes stiff steering sucks and smooth steering is awesome 😁.
Great video. Thank you
Glad to help! Hopefully you can still get out a couple times before the season is over 😅
This is very helpful, thank you

This is the document I use to determine what length of cable to buy

If you are talking about under the helm then there are screws hidden under the carpet. Use a magnet or feel around. They will usually be Phillips head
