Thanks, this is really helpful! Especially the puppet troop one. Another great mod is the coloured airforce mod which colours the icons of different plane types different colours (red for fighters, green for cas etc) which makes selecting them much quicker and easier. This only happens in the airforce map mode. I can't play without it anymore!
I can do without that hotkey mod. I play every paradox game with just my mouse, spacebar & enter. It's actually one of the many reasons i love paradox games. I really do not like having to memorize a billion hotkeys.
Expert AI is a must for single player if u want to fight competent Air/Tanks (otherwise, without it ur just boosting bad divisions). Toolpack is great for combining minors without destroying balance by turning them off, or creating scenarios that make your country of choice more fun/rivals more challenging.

Ngl most of these mods are content-creator mods and probably not a lot of regular players are going to use these mods. Thanks for reminding me about Spot Optimization though!
1 mod that would be a great life improvement would be the ability to delete existing railroads. The amount of times I want to make borders look a certain way, but the railroad sistem in the new territory looks garbage is irritating
I have a mod that adds some techs for buildings that produce resources like steel and tungsten because for some reason when the game hands you a small nation with no manpower or industry they also don’t give you resources most of the time and its its just a shitty situation. It makes countries like Afghanistan, Iran, sinkiang, and some South American nations, hell any minor nation, easier to build an economy
@@mrazi9753 not really. They just don’t include resources that those countries do produce. For instance agriculture is just nonexistent in the game even though it was a huge component in trade and logistics during the time.
@@aridianknight3576 hoi4 is too focused on being exclusively wargame and the rest is very barebones. I tried to play stellaris again after a long stint in ho4 and I don't get how and why I used to like that gameplay before even if so many things are way more fleshed out there. Ended up accidentally purifying all close neighbours before mid-game lag set in and it wasn't even supposed to be a genocidal run! Hoi4's brilliant supply line system ruined other games for me.
@@mrazi9753 brilliant? I’d say serviceable. Just put 2 factories on trains and 3 on trucks and you don’t gotta fuck with it much unless your in Asia, Africa, or South America. And even then you just build lvl 1 railroads to the nearest supply depot or port. Never build depots, only ports. There’s no interaction beyond that. For being a global war game it should really have a better wide ranging logistical system. Stuff like agriculture and food processing into rations that need to be shipped. Even then it’d be the bare minimum since logistics is one of the most important components to a functioning fighting force. You can’t march your men without food, you can’t shoot your guns without bullets. Hoi4 is unfinished in my eyes. I’m not asking for Victoria 3 level of economic simulation but Jesus Christ the system of just steel, aluminum, tungsten, chromium, and rubber is just pitiful. Refinement is just a matter of slapping down infrastructure, management is as easy as “trading factories”, and logistics is a background process. Fucking unfinished. The only reason why people find this game hard or confusing is the amount of near useless stats, the opacity of what those stats mean, and the tiny text they use to show it all to you. The ai is stupid easy, the difficulty bar is just ai gets cheat modifiers. Stellaris has the same damn problems but at least it’s diplomacy is somewhat interesting
@@aridianknight3576 well, it's brilliant by comparison to what is out there in other games (which is not much at all). It'd be really fun to have more depth to what we already have in hoi4 like you describe (as long as it's not tedious micro the same for every country), but, by Celestia's nipples, the entirety of Stellaris "combat" is doomstack of artillery in biggest size shiphulls you can get and that's pretty much it.
I always play with ATA_Overhual, BlueMoonTR's National Ideas and Additional Effects. Really enjoy TGW, but don't like it's research interface for Aerial and Naval Units. Wish they could modify it to be more like vanilla, so I could create my own models.
I run the AI division limiter mod because nothing is more annoying and immersion breaking than 1944 Germany being balls deep in Russia attritioning and losing millions of men while simultaneously having 50 divisions on each of the port tiles in northern France and Germany. No joke AI Germany will deploy 500+ divisions by 1944 and you just can’t move unless you have a division with 1,000 soft attack and unlimited CAS
Do the framerate edit in the Notepad, it changes the FPS limit from 75hz to 144hz or 165hz or 244hz. The game is limited to 75 fps by default, 20 fps on 5x speed.
There was one mods one I can´t find any more. and that mod this this. when you design a place the game would at the end "manually" add a Global shortification of the plane. Airframe: Inter-War Small. Role: Fighter. Main Armament: 2x Light Machine Gun so when you see Ki-10(Japan) or He 51(Germany) it would add after the name F0 (Fighter interwar) example Ki-10 (F0) if the Ki-10 in its secondary slot also had CAS weapons like bomb locks it would change it to. KI-10 (FC0) 0 = interwar. 1936 =1 and so on. Jet I think had like 5 and 6. But it was more so that you did not need to look at the blue print to understand what the plane was for it only took the airframe, carrier, small, medium, large. the level interwar, 1936, 1940, 1944, jet 1 and jet 2 (1944 whit jet engine was I think missing). it took the main armament and secondary (only counted each role ones so sticking 3 MG on it and a something that did cas and also air did not cause it to have 4 F in it). for all nations so you had a ide of what an aircraft was supposed to be doing whit out having to look it up on wikipedia plus if you had like 5 different aircraft you sort of knew what they all did. and a general older airframe is worse (that said if you had inter war airframes whit Heavy MG and 1936 whit 1 light MG it would not tell). and this was for all aircraft from start to any that was made/designed later.
Yea I have it too but does it actually make a differemce now? Dave said in the video that the hoi4 devs have incorporated these things into the main game...
@@KokenyRichard My friends mades the mod and it changes a lot. it is not really important what it does on screen but it helps to lower the errors(which causes game to slow) u can see it on Debug mode.
It's good for the historical detail and historical battalion options, but it suffers of being too centric on Germany and being kind of a wehraboo mod in some ways, without adequate alt historical support, which sucks when the AI fails to do something they did irl and it spirals onto an ahistorical playthrough.

Maybe I should upload my peace conferences code from my mod American Dictator, it is more balanced than Player Let but still does not screw the player like vanilla peace does.
Dave is too stingy to pay 5 pp to delete he's undeletable divisions so he installed a whole mod for it. I love it.
Really would be cool to have only the 56 focuses as a mod
Notification fix, Show Speed in Construction View, 3 of my own (Better Puppet names, Imperial Germany better focus), Better Template Names, Too Many Generic Portraits and Operatives as generic leaders.
played with historical naval production all the time, make navy much more fun and makes a lot more sense. change the production price and refit price and stuff, good to go with "refit" mod.
spanish have some undeleted unit after the spanish revolution at start, annoying to be stuck with them. Thx for the list of mod
Before the change to war policies using XP instead of research, I would run a +1 research slot mod.
Colored railways. So I can see where my supply bottlenecks are.
Historical German Flag. I don't believe in censorship.
Catland. Lets you play as a cat leader of Luxembourg and take over the world.
Country Roulette. So I can play a random country during the game I don't get to pick what country.
USA States Redux. Every state in the USA is it's own country. Things can get very interesting.
FPS map for better fps and colors.
Vanilla Naval Rework mod to make navy more realistic/historical. As a navy enthousiast, I cannot play without. But it does make large changes.
Expert AI is necessary for sp historical games imo
Ngl most of these mods are content-creator mods and probably not a lot of regular players are going to use these mods. Thanks for reminding me about Spot Optimization though!
Me doing only achievements in singleplayer : Nope thanks 💀💀💀
One time I played a very late game WWII and Germany and the US we’re just trading nukes it was basically WWIII
Don’t tell me what to do you’re not my dad!
One tip for performance install process lasso its speeding up late game 1940 and later
Expert AI when putting them at harder difficulties just gives the AI buffs and basically makes it unfair. Not a good mod imo
Like and Subscribe, best of them all
1 mod that would be a great life improvement would be the ability to delete existing railroads. The amount of times I want to make borders look a certain way, but the railroad sistem in the new territory looks garbage is irritating
Toolpack is just so damn helpful
Some of these might make the game actually fun. If I can get rid of the lag.
"for some reason" - realism?
It'd be really fun to have more depth to what we already have in hoi4 like you describe (as long as it's not tedious micro the same for every country), but, by Celestia's nipples, the entirety of Stellaris "combat" is doomstack of artillery in biggest size shiphulls you can get and that's pretty much it.
cant believe you remember the spot mod lmao, also the spot mod died because the main dev quit hoi4
I almost always play with the toolpack mod so I don't have to wory if the ai fucks up the peace deal
Coring button for PP and FPS maps, also AI limiter wich nerfs all non WW2 figthing ai to reduce lag.
Fps map its my favorite one
i cant even beat the normal AI how am i supposed to play with expert AI 💀
I'm 1000 hours in and not a single achievement lol.
Good one 🎉
Do the framerate edit in the Notepad, it changes the FPS limit from 75hz to 144hz or 165hz or 244hz. The game is limited to 75 fps by default, 20 fps on 5x speed.
Ide like to do that to fix this broken ass game that I love for some reason but I’m addicted to getting the achievements
I like my HOI like I like my ice cream... vanilla
There was one mods one I can´t find any more.
and that mod this this.
when you design a place the game would at the end "manually" add a Global shortification of the plane.
Airframe: Inter-War Small. Role: Fighter. Main Armament: 2x Light Machine Gun
so when you see Ki-10(Japan) or He 51(Germany) it would add after the name F0 (Fighter interwar) example Ki-10 (F0)
if the Ki-10 in its secondary slot also had CAS weapons like bomb locks it would change it to.
KI-10 (FC0) 0 = interwar.
1936 =1 and so on.
Jet I think had like 5 and 6.
But it was more so that you did not need to look at the blue print to understand what the plane was for
it only took the airframe, carrier, small, medium, large.
the level interwar, 1936, 1940, 1944, jet 1 and jet 2 (1944 whit jet engine was I think missing).
it took the main armament and secondary (only counted each role ones so sticking 3 MG on it and a something that did cas and also air did not cause it to have 4 F in it).
for all nations so you had a ide of what an aircraft was supposed to be doing whit out having to look it up on wikipedia plus if you had like 5 different aircraft you sort of knew what they all did.
and a general older airframe is worse (that said if you had inter war airframes whit Heavy MG and 1936 whit 1 light MG it would not tell).
and this was for all aircraft from start to any that was made/designed later.
u can use SOO optimization instead of Spot
Yea I have it too but does it actually make a differemce now? Dave said in the video that the hoi4 devs have incorporated these things into the main game...
@@KokenyRichard My friends mades the mod and it changes a lot. it is not really important what it does on screen but it helps to lower the errors(which causes game to slow) u can see it on Debug mode.
I always use the mod called Konzentrationslager. It adds very much needed flavor to the game.
R.I.P to that glorious mod.. it was deleted.. (if it came back lmk)
@@mlvn.69420 I have it downloaded. I will let you know when I uploaded it. Can't right now because I'm drunk
now that divisions get medals, how can you locate those divisions to have them operate based on medals? Any mod that helps with that?
It is possible though to set "No kick from faction" in the game rules, isn't it?
Black Ice that is all needs to be said.
hot garbage mod
It's good for the historical detail and historical battalion options, but it suffers of being too centric on Germany and being kind of a wehraboo mod in some ways, without adequate alt historical support, which sucks when the AI fails to do something they did irl and it spirals onto an ahistorical playthrough.
Amazing content!!!!!!!
My modpack is mostly a dozen of different radioes.
Radiant Flags: Historical and Realistic. the flags in HOI4 are sooooooooo bad, and this mod saves my eyes from it. a must have.
Feedback, you're playset looks horrific, please make a video cleaning it up to rectify this issue; thanks.
Who are you
You are playset??
