I tried to do this as a non para person and you did way better than I did with working legs and not using them. Your a freakin pro! I see alot of what you do is counter balance your body.
Hey Brittney, I am 35 yo and my daughter just turned 1 yo. I really want to educate her to treat all people nicely, to not feel chocked when she comes across with someone different and be prepared for whatever challenges life brings to her. I wasn't educated that way but I love to hear stories of people who overcome all kind of challenges or simply interact with the world differently. Loads of love to you I am your fan!
I love that you haven't lost your sense of humor! You are inspirational and sort of refreshing in this world so full of self-pity . You never succumb to this temptation, thank you for that.
Thanks for the great videos. I've been paralyzed since 1981 and it's nice to hear other voices from paralyzed people. I'm paralyzed from T-7 so I have a tiny bit more sensation. I have many of the same things I have to do daily (shower, bladder and bowel stuff) that I have to do. I'm sharing your videos to my friends because I often have a hard time explaining how things work with my body. A bit of advice... Take care of your shoulders. I have a frozen shoulder and it sucks not being able to reach high on that side anymore. I already have a slightly worn joint which already made it painful to use without being frozen. I'm subscribed now and looking forward to seeing more from you Take care
Brittany love your courage to share things that are potentially but definitely necessary to accomplish your goals train all of us how to live well, straight love and respect for you
Thanks for the video Brittney! Keeps me alert as I wasn’t expecting another video so soon. As an able-bodied person, just like bowel &bladder, I just never thought of how different dressing is. You have taught me so much in just 10 months! Thank you!
It amazes me how smoothly you move your legs with your arms and hands. I have to watch very closely to see that your leg didn't raise by itself. I guess it comes from a total awareness of your body's strengths. Have a great week and a happy new year celebration! Denise
I’m always amazed at how strong your arms are. You’ve no doubt developed that strength over the years since you have to use them to compensate for lack of lower body function. Thank you for your videos. I’m sure that thousands of para- and quad- people have been helped by them. Those of us who are not differently-abled certainly have gained an appreciation for the physical and mental/emotional challenges that any one of us could easily face someday. I am not saying this right, trying to avoid words like “inspiration “ and “strong” and “it all happens for a reason” and the other cliches you have to put up with. So I’ll just shut up and close with “thank you for sharing your life with us.”
How inconvenient you put this up today after telling a friend I can't lace my corks this am since I only had 2 coffees. Definitely puts things in perspective.
I wear maternity leggings or jeans. They are perfect since they have a stretchy top, which covers my belly even when bloated and always covers my bum/back in my wheelchair - before it drove me crazy when my shirt would go up and my pants went down so my skin/underwear was always showing.
You have certainly got an engineer’s mind. You understand things so well. Yes, I was worried that you might fall out of your chair, but after watching all of your videos, I know that you always have it under control. We think you did it pretty fast!
I’m now paralysed from the chest down. When I had more movements I dressed in my chair but I don’t have the balance these days. I am trying to learn how to dress myself on the bed now but it takes me about three hours to put underwear on then I have to sleep because it tired me out so much. I am still hoping to crack the art of this.
Thank you so much! It's good to know that it's not that easy and I have basically been doing it "right". If he's home, my darling husband picks my pants up by the waist and kind of shakes me in and we laugh every time. Again, thank you!
Thank you for sharing what you've learned, with those of us that have been thrust into this situation in our later years. We still run into difficulties due to lack of upper body strength, although we seem too figure out how to forge on. God Bless you!!
Hopefully one day you can do a video on showing and explaining the parts of your chair. Your wedding video seemed to have “armrests” and the “handles” at the back seemed to be different, and I don’t understand how the brakes work. I apologize if I called these components/features incorrectly.
Oh, Britney. No lady bits? Well, shucks! Hope you and the kids and hubby had a good Christmas this year and do great in the coming one. Continue to put out your videos because every one of them helps somebody, and sometimes that is me as I slowly lose leg control.
i think i would wear skirts all the time like to the doctors and when i know im clothes shopping then you dont have to take off pants to try pants on. you make it look easy but i know its not.
I'm impressed, you make that look fairly easy! Question... I noticed your right leg shaking a couple of times towards the end, almost like muscles that are pushed extremely far into fatigue. Do you have some very limited use of those muscles? It sure looks like you might, even if they are of little use.
Hi. I believe in one of your videos you said how you have zippers sewn into the crotch of all your jeans to make it easier to cath, how do you handle that in leggings? Thanks for sharing your life! 💐
Brittney, thank you for posting another informative video. I always pick up a tip or two from your videos. Early in this video you were pulling one of your long hairs off your sweater. I am also a female paraplegic (T4) who has long hair. How do you keep your hair out of your front wheelchair casters? I am constantly removing hair from my casters each week. I also use frog legs suspension forks with frog shields. Just curious if you have a good system to keep the casters hair free. Thank you for all the videos!!
How do you get the stretchy pants under your butt bones and tailbone? This is the hardest part for me. What kind of cushion do your use? Would the type of cushion seated on make a difference? Thanks! Love the videos
I use a Geomatrix hybrid low profile cushion. I don't think it makes much of a difference which cushion you're on . I have to grab the back of my pants with my hand and kind of lift and pull little bits at a time to get rhe pants over my tailbone
I was diagnosed with MS a few years ago and am now in a wheelchair. It's motorized since my arm strength was also affected. I have no core strength and have lost nearly everything from my diaphragm down. I feel almost everything, but nothing obeys me. I can not lean side to side like you do and pick up my butt. It just stays seated... until I fall over sideways. Ideas?!?
I like this but i dont think i can move my left side of the hip that way to get pants on this way. Right now im rolling around in my bed with some instructions from other people (my right leg and hup works totally normal) i dont know whats causing my problems tho .. but put pants and my up and go diapers on. Thanks for another informative video, just one question I got from watching this. At one point you straightened out your underwear and I totally see that as a part of getting dressed, how do you deal with folds and wrinkles in thicker garments? I assume that a missed wrinkle in a pair of jeans may cause increased pressure and even damage after a day if not taken care of.

(edit: I remember having to learn how to 'do stuff' for myself, following a spine injury, getting myself dressed was an accomplishment)
I gave up on pants when I got in a wheelchair 3 years ago, especially because since I go to the toilet "normally" (no cath) and pee every 2-3 hours it would be a hassle having to pull them down and back up each time wich is less an issue for people that cath if they have a zipper on the crotch...so I wear skirt and dresses all the time (or nothing at home cuz I'm a nudist lol). Observation: it's far easier to do this sitted without showing up too much because of the technique and camera angle, hope you've find a way to do the on the bed version without sacrificing your modesty
@EmpoweredPara lol not really (Quebec, Canada) I'm just resistant to cold and I don't go out much during winter because it's kind of a drag to navigate a wheelchair in the snow. *in the winter I also use legs warmer for those cold days when I still have to go out, keep my legs warms like pants (almost) without the hassle of having to put pants down or up each time I go to the bathroom.
Hi Brittney. How important is it to get any folds out from what you are sitting on? Is it ok with the Wheel chair cushion? I know if I sit on a fold or seem for too long at my desk in my chair it hurts my skin a bit and does that happen to you? Thank you for such informative videos that answer a lot of questions about how things are done by people dealing with your life similar to you.
I'm sure you've addressed this before at some point, but at 2:32, your leg muscles are quivering. Also, your legs look as if there is some muscle still there...ie...not completely atrophied. Do you have any feeling left in those legs? Sorry, but I'm completely ignorant about this stuff. I also didn't know that quads aren't what I thought they were...ie...I thought you had to be completely paralyzed from the neck down to be considered a quadraplegic but have since learned otherwise. Sorry for my ignorance.
I’m having some health issues with my joints, but we had a family trip planned for New York City. This ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxuxJwamLFanm476LC5WPeTouyyU1GXomC was perfect! It’s lightweight enough that my friend could carry it up or down stairs when we needed to. (I can walk very short distances) It was comfortable for me to sit in, I would say if you’re super tall it might be a little cramped. I’m 5’1” and the foot rests were the perfect height. This may not be the best one for long term use, you get what you pay for, but for something that fits our budget that gives me accessibility while we deal with my health this was amazing.
I prefer getting dressed on the bed, if I do that I'll make a thong out of my boxers and my problem is more stroke-like so I do have some feeling under my waist.

I am just curious why people don't use wheelchair with a proper arm rest. I can put on my pants less than 30 seconds.
Armrests get in my way more than they help. I used to use them and got rid of them after my kids were both born
You are the most Beautiful and coolest woman I've ever seen! 💜 I Adore you! so so 😍 Pretty
👏👏👏👏🌹🏆😊
Putting on pants...its the same for everyone....one leg at a time...
yep lol!
I prefer getting dressed on the bed, if I do that I'll make a thong out of my boxers and my problem is more stroke-like so I do have some feeling under my waist.
I would help u get dress ❤

Run across your video, thought about ran , or came.. nevertheless, I want to impart a message:
Jesus died for you.
please read Romans 6:23.
trust Him as your Savior.
If you’re inclined, “repent and be baptized.” Acts 2:38
He loves you.
Perhaps go to a Lutheran church, or another Bible believing church.
Ask someone, “ why you should be baptized.”
peace be with you
Britney stop farting
Where are you from....? I I use the wheelchair too,,.
What is your name,..?
I know a easy way to do it..I don't have a way to make a video!
Can we talk??
