CrustCrawler AX-12-18 Hexapod robot BETA version using 18 Robotis AX-12 servo motors. Onboard computation is done on a fit-PC2 with Intel Atom Z530 Processor, on Ubuntu 9.10. The computational power of the computer allows for easy integration of complex sensors including cameras with OpenCV.
An SSH client is used to communicate via WIFI to the fit-PC2 to modify, compile, and run the code. A Bluetooth module is integrated to communicate to the PS3 Sixaxis controller. Some bugs are still being worked out with the Sixaxis accelerometer readings.
Inverse Kinematics is used for motion control. 3D balance gestures based on a spring model are enabled in the demonstration.

That must be very expensive. 1 dynamixel smart servo cost about $50 .still it need 18 of them. So it cost about $900. And it still the motor. Not mentions the controler and the frame. May be it cost more than $1200
