My Barista Express manual also stated that you could use white vinegar for descaling. After contacting Sage support they confirmed it was an error and adviced against using vinegar as it could degrade seals used inside the machine
Hi Hoon. What's the difference between this and the clean me process using the tablets? I thought the clean me process would already descale the machine when you use the tablet
Remember first to remove the water filter holder before your cleaning/descaling process. Take this opportunity to replace the cotton water filter in its holder when you are finished with the cleaning process. I do both every 3 months, or when the Clean Me light comes on.
Also, if you turn on your Infuser to make coffee and the Hot Water/Stream light is flashing...this has nothing to do with needing to clean your machine. It means somebody in your home has turned the steam knob prior to your turning on your machine. So for safety, it flashes the light at you. Simply rotate the HW/Steam knob back to neutral and try again. You are welcome. :-)
New sub here from Australia. I have a breville infuser i did try vinegar once but after seeing a few videos descaler is the way to go. I'll save my vinegar for salads.
This isn’t really an entry level machine. Of course if you compare it to $3000 units it is. It’s virtually the same as the Breville Express, just without the built-in grinder. I got this unit and separate Breville Smart Grinder because of space considerations and was concerned that if the grinder failed, the whole unit would have to be sent in. The grinder did fail after a few years. I’ve since replaced the grinder with hits new version that addressed a problem with the impeller wheel.
Hoon's Coffee - it’s very good. Has new version of the upper bur that has extra settings and the impeller wheel which throws the ground coffee down the shoot is metal and has more clearance so as not to jam up. The old impeller was plastic and would wear down quickly. Neither the old or new version like very oily beans. I do clean weekly using brushes, vacuum and white rice. Basically the same as the one in the coffee maker. It’s grind setting is digital as is its timer.
@@north45j newer grinder is pro version which I also bought several years ago to replace the original smart grinder do I could get adjustable upper burr. I donated old one.
Does your portafilter basket get stuck on the brewhead when you try to remove the portafilter? When i remove my portafilter the basket remains on the brewhead and I have to pry it off manually.
@@HoonsCoffee yes, its about 2 weeks old. It was fine the first few shots but then the basket started getting stuck in the brewhead. I have the Infuser model.
I thought using vinegar can damage some of the machine components. But it seems this process is explained in the infuser manual which makes my earlier statement a myth?

I was warned by a local repair shop to never use vinegar even if the manual says so. They say that after a while , it damages the internal plastic tubes/parts. Who to trust? I'd place my bet on the repairman 🤔
Guy Barrette - I previously had another espresso maker that died. So in attempting to fix it, I took it apart. It’s tubes were plastic. I’d used vinegar for years it it and the tubes were just fine.
The tubes inside are not made of plastic, they are made of PTFE. According to this source, Acetic Acid (vinegar) is safe: www.calpaclab.com/teflon-ptfe-compatibility/

WOW, you drove 5 hours for the machine, you're dedicated to your craft. these companies want you to buy their descaling product. So they put out bad news about using a 50/50 mix of distilled white vinegar.

Hi thanks for your video, do you know how we can use the Breville Eco 2 in 1 Cleaner and Descaler product? Thanks

Because it sells Delonghi discaler , and for that no one will buy it 😂
