Ingredients 1 x base, letters of your choice, white double chrysanthemums Euro, white roses, tulips, volante freesia, touch of greenery.
Welcome to Flowerjoos! Today in our video we look at how to create a floral based letter design. The choice of word is up to you, but these frames are fantastic as they give you the perfect letters to work with. We have based them using the white Euro chrysanth and added white roses as a highlight. The placements are tulips and freesia - so all in all the finished word is highly floral and a little bit different. Pleated ribbon frames each letter.

Those are a amazing product. It's not used enough in the USA. People still like the tripod sprays with a banner.

My mother in law has passed away during the Covid lockdown... we’re having to make flowers ourselves so thank you from the bottom of my heart, truly 🤍

It is the same with me. I've just lost my dad. My worry is getting enough flowers especially foliage as I would like to make one like above but DAD and my mum would like a wreath made. I've never made anything like this but you make it look quite straightforward. Thank you
rmiceli10 it looks straightforward, and in some ways it is if you work methodically, but you must be confident that you can achieve the finished product. At the moment a lot of wholesalers are not open, and flowers might be harder to find, so it will be finding the product that could be an issue. So sorry to hear about your dad. I just attended a funeral today - by webcast, with only 10 actual people there. 🌼

Some day, I wish you'd do one with more COLOR! I am Latino and we DO LIKE COLOR!!! We had one done for our mother that actually said "Mama" and it was done in Red Roses, and Yellow Mums!!! I can't remember who did it but it was BEAUTIFUL!!!
George Garcia that’s a great suggestion - I will channel my inner Latino and go for it! I think maybe we are too conservative in the U.K. though I think a string colour is good for funeral designs for a gentleman - like yellow, or orange and purple, or all red. 🙋🏼♂️😀

Erica Dulac thank you for watching the videos! That is a good suggestion, but there are many variables so it’s tricky to do. We were thinking of doing a costing video to look st how people approach costing, rather than a suggested cost per video.

Julia McCarthy with Floral foam it just needs dropped in water and left to sink until under water - then it’s fully soaked. For frames such as this that is harder as they don’t fit in a normal sink! Then I just use a jug to soak. This could be made a day or two in advance - you could finish the bumps on the day if you like. Some people prefer to undersoak so the frame is light in weight - so then best made afternoon before. If you add the ends then it is on a tilt and will drain a bit, if you leave the legs off until needed then it can lie flat and keep its water in.

I had the conversation with my dad last year about his funeral and flowers. I'm going to buy the letters so I have them here less stress when his time does come which I hope is not for a very long time. His favourite flower is carnations and that's what he wants. Any suggestion of flowers to add as the main display, thanks John.
Reflections and love I would ask what is his favourite if he has one, if not a set flower then what style - garden, simple perhaps? Or you could go with a colour - personally I like a strong colour for a man, but you can tailor the flowers to suit.

Hello Designer, What is your name? You are a very good designer. I noticed that you double cut your stems. This does two things, 1 the flowers have a greater chance of not falling out of the oasis and 2 the flower last longer because you have increased the amount of surface on the cut edge.

Do you put the ribbon on whilst the foam is wet ?
Yes - this type of ribbon is waterproof! So soak foam, add ribbon , then flower up 😀🌼

Vicki Vee we have a video showing a DAD frame - have a look. It’s different to this one, so maybe get an idea from that? I like strong colours for items for men, so purple ribbon, red and purple placements ? Maybe some thistles to add texture.

These bases are generally only used for funeral work or remembrance designs, and can be bought through a wholesalers. But you might find them available online if you don’t have access. Amazon has them but they are pricey.

Is there a way to preserve these arrangements as the fresh flowers will eventually get ruined :(
That is a good question - really it isn’t possible with an item like this, and keep it as the item. You could preserve the flowered from the placements as a keepsake. The best way is to use silica gel crystals which you can get in a craft store.
Or have the item made in artificial originally for a whole version.

Hi John. My father passed away recently and I was looking into doing one of these for him. My question is regarding sourcing the base flowers. Apart from my local supermarket everywhere online requires you to be a trade customer. Do you have any suggestions please.
Hello. Yes, these aren’t normally sold just as everyday flowers because they tend to get used for this purpose. One option is asking your local florist - they won’t have to do anything with them so might give you a good price. I was seeing tha5 the price of these just now is sky high though, so even the florists are a bit shocked.
You can base a design with any flowers really, I know someone who used coloured versions of these from the supermarket and the results were good.
I’m not sure where you are based, but realistically if you can’t buy trade then a florist will best be able to source good consistent flowers for you. Even if you have 5 supermarkets in your area you might not find enough of one thing to make this.
Your other option is choosing a different design to create.

Kerolayne Martins this base is made by Oasis based in the U.K. it is possible to cut letters out from a flat sheet also or use a sheet and mark out letters but leave the background for stability. Hope that helps 🙋🏼♂️

Kerolayne Martins if you have a florist wholesaler maybe they can advise, or check on the internet - maybe eBay or Amazon. We are based in the U.K., and thus came from Oasis a U.K. manufacturer
Flower Joos if this helps I found my foam letters on ETSY.COM they made custom letters for me & I ordered wet floral foam to cut and put on the dry white foam letters to guide as shape.

These might not be available in the US - you would be best to check with your wholesaler or Oasis US . But it may be on sites such as Amazon?

@@IpanemaShirley77 the frame is just a couple of end pieces and two bars - so it comes as a set more than a complete frame. For some words like DAD or MUM or GRAN they are complete units - letters and frame as one.
@@FlowerJoosI’m looking for a frame for 2 letters, with the standing key sides, where the letters clip into the frame as shown , but the US site seems to only have the Mom and Dad letters and they come in the frame; no letters sold separately and no premade frame without the mom or dad, as if only moms and dads die!! 🙁
@@IpanemaShirley77 ahh - then that’s a problem. It might be easier to make your own using designer board - wet foam set on a backing foam that is easily cut. Then you would have to create a stand - though that could be done with the designer board also. Hot glue / canes.
With these you need them sooner as well, so you don’t want to want for them to be delivered from somewhere that might take too long.
You might find it’s just as cheap and probably easier to have this made at a florists - they should have experience of custom work, or a solution for the base.
