This is likely in my top 10 disco songs ever. Such a timeless classic. The lead singer had some kinda voice. And that bassline drives the song so nicely.
1976 is the year ....Mid 70s Funk was in vouge with artist like Parliament / Funkadelic We Want The Funk The Commodores Brick House Earth Wind and Fire "September" ....The Bee Gees even went funky in 75 with the song Nights on Broadway . Sad to see it fade away but we have the vids and recordings at least .
As a 20 year old hard rocker when the disco 'craze' arrived, let's just say the words Disco Sucks came out of my mouth frequently. Many years later I can appreciate much of it while not a 'fan', as a musician there's a lot to like. The minor key change in the verse really makes this pop.
Irony is in this song the words "Disco is burning" and of course it was sort of cancelled after riot-like burning of disco records especially at a live baseball game for the Chicago White Sox that had a bond fire made on field. The events spooked record studios and into the 80s top 10 Disco began to end. Even the Bee Gees basically typecast as disco artist basically wrote hit non-disco songs for others who had hits from Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers to Barbra Streisand and others. Could the new US conservatism eventually want Rap cancelled and of course even many 80s videos were seen as risque' some banned from MTV or played only at night. Never say never in how movements that begin as anti .... move to reject and diminish change seen as against values.
I would NEVER admit that I loved disco in the 70's. I was all about Zep, Sabbath, Rush, Pink Floyd, etc. and my Rocker friends wouldn't have taken it well!
Ha, lets admit it you old farts, this brings back some really good memories from your favorite disco-tech. 🙂 I was a rocker at the time myself, but appreciated getting a young lady on the dance floor and breaking some sweat to this music. I am 67 years old and still love this stuff.
Not everyone hated disco when it came out in the 70s! I loved it. I did hate how some people got on the bandwagon who had no right to be there but that's an issue for another day. I hate the haters. Disco had hate from those who didn't feel it. There are lots of styles of music I don't like but if any music gives you half the feelings I get from disco then you are a lucky person.
How 'bout those bell bottoms. Excellent performance. Enjoyed your reactions. I was very anti Disco back in the '70s but this song would always find me dancing.
One of the best songs from the disco era for sure. Intersting thing about this video is the extremely poor camera work - or rather how the camera operators were told to film. It was amazing that they managed not to show the faces of the horn section; let alone the keyboard player.
This is Disco before it became something the industry turned into a genre that was mocked. It got exploited for quick profit at the end of its reign. It was easy to become hated on by the time the "Disco sucks " crowd took over. Saturday Night Fever was 77 it started to explode right after that movie. After Donna Summer's big hits and the early 80s came the backlash came soon after.
Our family bought their first home stereo system about a year before this came out or right around the same time really. But, this was one of the first 8-tracks we got to play on it. I heard this so many times when I was a kid. But I always liked it for sure. I turned out to be more of a rocker, but really I'm a musician and I play all kinds of music and like all kinds of music and I can see the appeal here. It's great to slip into that sense of camaraderie with others and just let yourself groove to it. Not really think about anything but just feel it. It's really great.
I wasn't even thought of in the 70s but the 70s had a lot bangers. I love the 80s as well. Im a early 80s baby & mid 80 & early 90s kid. 70s-90s music was the best.
@@RNDReactswas, please react to the real thing - you to me, from Liverpool, first disco track recorded here - and it’s better than the tramps IMRHO. Love you soft Brummie vibe - defo not yam yam. ❤️👍🏽👍☘️
Pretty sure British Gas used the “burn baby burn” bit in a commercial as have many purveyors of hot n spicy food! You’ve no doubt heard it all over the place.
Nice reaction. I'm from Minnesota. More Prince. His version of "Motherless Child" is worth checking out, as is his performance of "Let's Go Crazy" from his 1985 Syracuse concert. His performance of "Purple Rain" from that same concert is a must see. Let's get some more Prince.
If you haven't watched the movie "Saturday Night Fever" starring John Travolta, you really need to. So much great dance music including this one, some KC and a bunch of Bee Gess tunes as well. It's a total classic from 1977.
Yes, late '76 and it later appeared on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack in '77. More evidence, if needed, that Disco didn't start with the movie, or the Bee Gees - it was already there. Actually forgot it was that long! If you want more disco, I'd suggest Donna Summer - I Feel Love, or if you want to have a bath or shower whilst she sings, play Love to Love You Baby... all 17 minutes of it! 😜 (Edit - not suggesting you do that for a video... just saying how long it is). How about some classic Chic, with Bernard Edwards and the legendary Nile Rodgers? I'd go for I Want Your Love.
The 70s was great for disco music so I looked back at what you reacted to and I do not see any "Heatwave"...now I'm a Dj.in Cali and I always played Groveline & Gangsters of the Grove by Heatwave, give them a listen...
Truthfully, I loved disco until they started making 12-20 min. songs with almost no words and EVERY song had the same beat. Still, I've heard that this song started the disco era in America. Check out Donna Summers. She was the disco queen. Love your reactions.
I'm sorry, but I absolutely hate disco. And everyone also hated disco when it came out in the mid-seventies. This is a bold statement, but I'm going to say it anyway. Disco ruined rock and roll. Rock and roll is about the music and disco is about Dancing and the club scene.
ONE OF THE BEST DISCO SONGS EVER
Timeless dance music. It never gets old.
This is likely in my top 10 disco songs ever. Such a timeless classic. The lead singer had some kinda voice. And that bassline drives the song so nicely.
like we keep saying - the 70s had it all . rock - however you liked it - hard , soft , progressive - R&B , country and yes disco .
Don't forget punk!

Also 67 here, and many great memories of being on the dance floor in the late 70's and early 80's.
This is what the 70's was all about everyday. I wish time could start all over again at January 1, 1970.

One of many hits on the Saturday night fever sound track.....

Man! This brought back some wicked memories. Those double-knit bell bottoms and silk flower shirts drew ladies like crazy. Fantastic reaction!
So wonderful to hear your take on the music of the past. Please continue to enjoy
This is an iconic song from the movie "Saturday Night Fever."
Love these old songs
this was used in the John Travolta Musical Movie Saturday Night Fever and most of the songs were Written by the Bee Gees

This was my generation's music! Disco baby!!!
I wasn't even thought of in the 70s but the 70s had a lot bangers. I love the 80s as well. Im a early 80s baby & mid 80 & early 90s kid. 70s-90s music was the best.

Great Disco song, and one of the tunes in the movie Saturday Night Fever, starring John Travolta.

Great stuff ! I love your channel ! PEACE TO THE WORLD !
Yes, you heard it in adverts, we all heard it in adverts! If it's in an advert, then that means that it's a banger!

That song will put boogie in your butt...fosho!!!
Not a big hit in 76 when it was first released but its inclusion in Saturday Night Fever pushed it up to number 11 on the charts.
Hey Ree Child of the 70s here . The music was fire and funky LOL! Never did the polyester suit thing thoughl OL!
You should have a listen to Gary Byrd - The Crown or Sugarhill Gang - Rapper’s Delight full versions, if you haven’t heard them.
The 1970s had it all.
Quality Reaction Rere. Check Out Apollo 440 " Hustler Groove " ( Official Audio ) 🙂
70's hymn.
I just started seeing your reactions. It's nice to see you reacting for the first time. You have a beautiful look . Reminds me of SADE. ❤️❤️❤️
The 70s was great for disco music so I looked back at what you reacted to and I do not see any "Heatwave"...now I'm a Dj.in Cali and I always played Groveline & Gangsters of the Grove by Heatwave, give them a listen...
You should listen to heat wave mind blowing decisions x
