  • We've been working with different TNC dinguses on ‪@temporarilyoffline‬ 's Nuggets show on Monday nights (630 CDT). All the devices we've used so far have been made in the 70's or 80s. Ancient!
This is the Nino TNC - a pretty easy kit, where you can roll your own TNC with serial and USB connections. It was an easy kit to put together, with excellent instructions.

Very good Jim. I have been building kits from the 1970's. I learned so much buy doing that. Glad to see kits in 2024 ! The fun we have with radio ! I use NEWARK electronics for parts as well. They in NJ . Love Mouser and Digikey as well. Love to see that working and making contacts. The Coffee And Ham radio kits are awesome ! Love all the hard work and testing that go into them. Chuck,TO,APE and Jim are great ! And all the great gusts them come on the show ! Word wide fun !!! 73 from NY !

Yessir....yuck. It looks like I need to build a 13-pin DIN to 9 pin DB-9 so I can do the thing with the kenwood properly. Not sure yet. I've gotten it working on APRS just fine, using Pinpoint APRS and the Kenwood.

Dude, the instructions were super clear and very detailed. She worked right out of the box. I've had it on APRS with my TS-2000.

Built several and have two talking to each other. The group TARPN is very helpful in diagnosing any issues you may have. They helped me get my set going. The real reason to build one is intentional networking. I’m in lower Alabama and I’m working on setting up a network for the amateur community here.

Cool! I'm working on getting it interfaced with my TS-2000. I have it working just fine (recieve) on APRS. I think I have issues there, as I cannot get it to key the Kenwood.

Cool little kit. The price is nice, Sometimes buying the parts separately costs more than a built kit but in this case it's a good value. TBH the mild success is because you had old second legacy TNCs with maybe sketchy conditions, but it's been fun anyway.

Thank you for showing how to build this kit. I have been looking at it for years and it looks easy. I hope you show what it takes to get this working with a radio and software.

I didn't design it - I got all my parts from their list off of Mouser. Maybe check with the boys on the TARPN website.
