- A $450 Leica Noctilux? The 7Artisans 75mm f1.25 Lens Reviewed. This lens is quite good for the price. It’s smaller and lighter than the equivalent Leica Noctilux lens, and of course not to mention way cheaper. It also performs pretty well in terms of bokeh however the in sharp areas wide open are not as sharp as the Leica. For the price however, this is one of 7Artisans best performing lenses.

I don’t know why not many people doing review on this lens. Thank you for posting. Is this a keeper?
I think this one is a keeper. Other 7Artisans lenses are not that great so it can be hit and miss.
Actually I have the 28 1.4 and the 21 1.5 and this lens. I like this one the least. While it's ok sharp it has very poor microcontrast. It's not immediately obvious on UA-cam.
And I shot it on an SL so it's not a focus issue
You should do a followup/review after using it for a while
I’m planning to get one to use on a Sigma FP
I agree that this lens is definitely not great at f/1.25 or f/1.4. However, I can accept the image from f/2 onwards from my personal preference. I use it for B&W, so not much of an issue. I only use 75mm once in awhile, so getting an expensive 75mm is not worth it for my leisure photography. The cost for this lens allows me to accept some of its known weakness.
Anyway, great video and review.
its a biotar design and i think its one of the most legendary designs out there. people still try to get their hands on the exakta biotar 75
What diagonally dimension have front lens ? I dont find.l this info . I need for anamorphic diy setup, to know 🫥
Do you mean front filter size?
I have the 7Artisans 50mm f/1.1 and I use it on my Sony A7ii with the Fotodiox Pronto AF adapter so I get autofocus. It's a really cool artistic lens. I wonder if 75mm f/1.25 is any better in terms of IQ.
How do M mount lenses adapt to e mount? Sometimes I see people saying the IQ is less other times people say there's no difference.
Do you need an additional adapter for the Pronto Adapter? I hope that it just attaches to it because it is Leica M
Just ordered one for my M6. I hope the focusing is fairly accurate because calibrating it on film will be a hassle. Got any more sample photos? Maybe flickr or something like that?
just me Any results with it yet? I also have the M6, so kinda curious ;-)
pollensteyn I’ve sent it back. Focusing was unreliable. When I was nailing focus the lens was decent, but I was getting quite a lot out of focus shots.
just me Thanks! That’s a pity. It also seems huge. Did it block the viewfinder much? I guess I’ll stick with a summarit when I’m going to pull the trigger on a 75mm
pollensteyn no, it was a good fit on M6. Felt good in hand.
Can this be used in full frame camera ??
Yes it sure can.
Did you take advantage of the Billingham Black Friday sale?
bngr bngr I missed it but I don’t think the one I want was on sale. I really dig Billingham however and may review the one that I have
phototristan I picked up an all black Packington plus the new style shoulder pad. I wish the Eventer went on sale.
bngr bngr Nice. I hope to get a few more Billingham bags in the future. The eventer looks very nice
You never need to adjust a Leica M lens focus. Never ever.😊
For not that much more, your money is better invested in a 75 summarit imho. Esp if you use digital
I think so. While I do very much enjoy the 7Artisan 50mm 1.1 on my Leica M as a sort of novelty lens, for ergonomics as well as quality, I'm going with the 75mm Summarit. I used an older 50mm Noc for a number of years and found it difficult, at best, to use professionally or otherwise, in situations that required focusing quickly.
Will this adapt to a Fuji?
James Archer Yes with the right adapter.
I really like your strap, what is it?
It's this one, I just removed the shoulder part: amzn.to/3fqnJnT
@@phototristan Thanks
I'm sorry man, I think your videos are solid and you make great reviews. But seriously, let's get real. This lens shouldn't even be on the market and not even close to being a half decent lens. This lens doesn't lose it's haze and soft focus until about about f4. they would've been better off making this a 2.8, and making that better overall and selling it. People like me would've kept a lens like that rather than giving it away for free. YES, I gave it away I hated it that much. The aperture ring hisses every time I adjust it, what you think would be in focus isn't, it is in focus when a could of haze covers the subject before you can even see what slightly in focus. Don't even talk about contract. Capture one doesn't even make a slider long enough to cover the contract this lens needs. It is a complete failure from A to Z. the worst part is, the person I gave this lens to said the same thing and said "I would never ever mount this on any of my Leicas ever again" I mean wow! And the worst part is, I've never said anything this negative about any lens I've owned throughout my career. So, this is saying a lot. TTartisans, please go back to the drawing board and stop embarrassing yourselves. Voigtlander destroys these lenses, for a couple of hundred dollars more, you have yourselves a winner. Do yourselves a favor and don't buy it. Ok, I'm done, the end!
Not sure what you expect for $450. Majority of the reviews for this lens are positive. I like this lens for the price and also like it better than the Voigtlander 75 f1.5, which is DOUBLE the price. Both of course cannot come close to the Noctilux.
Thanks for your glowing positivity, Mr Gabrail !

@Frederick Hall character?? Lol 😂 it’s a dull lens with with no soul. I don’t even think it qualifies for that. And if people like it, then it’s all good if they can use it. I personally could not. And yes, I’ve heard of the company and used multiple lenses from them. And my opinion is the same about the lenses I’ve used.
