DJ TLM s first video Ive seen using a controller, and not just any ole controller man, it had to be the biggest and Baddest around..Been waiting for a vid on turntablism tests on controllers,This did not disappoint(cant wait for further updates on this MONSTER)..Im hoping if theirs an NS7 III That the size is equivalent cause you looked comfortable using it and Im sure many other Turntablists will say the same.I hear a Revolution coming maybe?.Your vidz always fresh..Peace
that's all that i needed to see.... you just sold me my brotha! thanks for this. definitely getting me one of these puppies.
Great video - just purchased the DDJ-SZ - can't wait to take it for a spin!
Nice dj controller I wish to have one.
Awesome scratching and juggling!
djTLM sup bro! This video is dope! I'm a NY DJ thats up and coming & i'm about to purchase the DDJ-SZ. Much respect and i'm definitely tryna learn a few things from you!.
pioneer the best control
Waiting on the review!!
Working on it as we speak! Finishing it tomorrow morning. It's 2AM here and I still need to record some footage with sound ;)
So it will be online tomorrow for sure!
That was a good little set > We might share this in our blog.
Cheers,
Bpm Supreme Record Pool
Hi guys,
I've been extremely busy with different projects, gigs and private life and as a result I was not able to make new video's in the last two weeks. I'm back in the lab right now and the new video's are dropping asap!
Thanks for the support and patience.
TLM
Hi guys,
Due to health issues I couldn't finish video's I was working on (NS7-2 review) and I can't record new video's either. I lost my voice over the weekend and that makes it a bit difficult to record stuff ;)
I should be fine in a couple of days so stay tuned!
For the DJ's who would like to be part of the Saturday Super Session: Join the Saturday Super Session and send me your own video!
djTLMtv Thanks dude for the upload!!! Them 5 mins got me sold!
nice work
It's nice to see what my controller can actually do
I wish I would have known that this was coming down the pipeline, I would have waited before buying the ssx. But I will be getting this ddj sz. Thanks for the preview. I'm sold, One!
Nice
Sold. Tell pioneer to cut the check.
Cool mate as long as your a Hip Hop Dj. Only upload i've checked out, looking to finally upgrade from my 1210's (i sob loudly) and i'm looking more for beat matching reviews not scratching and cross fading. Can't beat vinyl for the hands on slight push and slow downs when matching up speeds and syncing. Nice job though and it looks an impressive set up. Respect from the UK. Hardtrancers!
I want to unload my S4, F1 & X1 MK2 for this controller. Im a traktor user but i want to get into serato.
I think pioneer's next move will be to add the tilted screens to this controller so you could run rekordbox and just use a USB stick like the cdj2000s. But that won't be for another year or 2. Cause that would probably destroy CDJ sales.
This controller looks bananas, can't wait to get my hands on one. I will be waiting patiently for your full review on this monster.
I use tracktor s4 but for what I'm seeing you are wright Pioneer DDJ-SZ it is the real thing I've try it and felt in love with this mean machine Pioneer DDJ-SZ RULES.
Yo TLM We gotta link up while i'm in Italy for 3 years!
dope
Dope fam!
I just picked it up the other day...its a beast! the jog wheels are the best ive ever felt!
DOPE
Dj TLM. Have you noticed any issues with the DDj SZ's touch sensitivity? Some are saying that the SZ doesn't have the Sensor knobs like the SX has and they are noticing that the touch sensitivity is lacking at times.. One individual said he felt that the SX platters felt better than the SZ. You said it's the best non moving controller you have used. I guess you didn't notice any issues when you did your test. Thanks for everything.
Cool video man!!! I just got the ddjsx2 and I love it just made a edm mix maybe you can watch it? Thanks!!!!
I'm so jealous. You're a legend djTLM!! thanks for all the videos!
djTLMtv the beatjuggling was pretty cool! have you ever tried using hot cues for beat juggling? helps a lot sometimes i mix hotcues with scratching its pretty fun. I cant beat juggle with that delay!
I have used the cue points for cue point drumming, but no real cue point juggling yet. That's real controllerism stuff. I will get into that more in the future, but for now I'm having too much fun with turntablism :)
There is no real delay with this controller, but the full test is coming this week.
Keep doing ya thang man I'm learning a lot from you through theses videos.... can wait to see the next video with the Ddj sz.... I think this will be my next purchase!
Great job brother. You really made it look like a regular turn-table.
nice!
Those are great patterns ! Please show them in a future tutorial if possible. I love how you showcased w a simple beat so you could fully hear the rhythm you were creating!
Yup, coming soon. I do want to finish the first 'season' of the scratch and mix tutorial series before I begin with the juggle tutorials.
hey dude, first of all you are so energetic and enthusiastic that it make me feel keep on watching your videos. I really appreciate for all you have done. I hope one day I have an opportunity to see your performance live.
peace out
Your fader seems alot more sharp then out the box .... Hmmmm... utility mode perhaps?
I tell you one thing, If I could get my routine half as good as your practice run, id be good to go lol. NS7 user myself.
I got the SX and the wheels arent responsive at all it is literally impossible to scratch well. I started on Vinyl so its not like I just dont get it. The SZ seems alot better though for sure! better hardware and everything
Any chance of a review of terminal mix 8? I'm trying to get into scratching, can only afford to go down the controller route, and an torn between a TM8 and a vci380 ( love your review on that on by the way).
i have ddj-sx ,is it good scratching ?
DJ TLM you are my favorite DJ by far. The way you scratch is amazing! I feel I could learn so much from you. I would love to DJ at a club one day. I've been getting gigs here and there, but I want to put on a performance for the people. I get discouraged considering I'm hearing impaired, but I have a gift for music and I have a "musical ear" I will be purchasing this set up soon. I certainly hope I can be as good as you some day. Take care!
Hey Tlm ! You used a nice instrumental for that video. Could you write the name of that under the description please?
Looking at this video and knowing your skills I think turntables or an NS7 or NS7 II is much better for turntablism. Seem like the DDJ SZ can't keep up with your hand motions.
It can actually keep up. Remember TLM just got the unit and did the routine. The thing is that out of the box the settings are not tailored to the individual's needs and the decks with its touch sensitive platforms requires a bit of getting use to in the first week. I was not too impressed with the ddj's platter handling at first but when i got use to it and got the settings right for me I am an extremely happy customer.
nice cant wait to get my hands on one of this DDJ-SZ. will definitely lookout for your in debt review on the next video
good
Cool!
Expensive controller but looks beautiful.Legend DJ TLM 💪
Ohhhhh so that's what TLM stands for... I feel a bit late on this one. Great work on getting your hands on the SZ so early! Looks great!
Thank you! You rock, love the scratching.
just made my first payment for this controller, when you get it back ,could you show how to incorporate serato vinyl on separate turntables? This was one of the selling points for me and I just want to make sure its legit. Thanks
I have it here right now and the turntables are hooked up. It works and I will demonstrate it in the upcoming review
THIS HAS A MISSING "STRIP SEARCH" LED LIGHT
WHICH IS IMPORTANT FOR CUEING A SEARCH
LATER ON YOU WILL REALIZE THAT THE NUMARK NS7-II IS BETTER
Seems like a delay from touching/letting go on the jog wheels. This video was posted last year, wonder if that issue was resolved? Or is that just a feature of the wheels?
I want to hear your thoughts on the Pioneer DDj-SZ vs Numark NS7 2.
Wasn't digging it that much. But Dj TLM is still my DeeJay.
cest bon sa
It looks like a fun controller!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
EPIC!!!! Beast on Beast... still waiting on the NS7 Mk2 demo! ;)
It shouldn't be much longer now. I had contact with them this week and I should have an NS7-2 here within the next two weeks. I can not wait!!
I know the Pioneer DDJ-SZ platters are solid and identical to the Pioneer CDJ 2000's, but how do they match up with the Pioneer DDJ-SX's? Be specific if you have used both controllers. Thanks!
Would you mind making a scratching on controllers 101 I think alot of your viewer's would appreciate it including myself.
I think I will have to. Even though everything is explained in my Scratch Tutorial series I still receive this request daily :)
Coming soon!
TL, have you tested the DDJ SX? if so, how does it compare (DDJ SZ vs DDJ SX)? i am getting mixed reviews and personally, I love my DDJ SX's (own 2). I want to pick up a DDJ SZ but i am waiting till everyone has test ran it and they get all the bugs out the way (if there are any?).
What do you think about the Pioneer DDJSX?
The SX is a very good controller with a lot of functionality. The only thing that makes the SZ a better controller (for me) is the fact that the jogwheels are larger and respond better than any other controller with non moving jogwheels/platters that I have tried. But if you are not into scratching and juggling that is less important.
When I have the SZ here for the full review I will also compare it with the SX
Can you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give us a demo with turntables connected ?
I really want to purchase this, but fear it's too wide for turntabilism. ( scratching and juggling )
I'll give you like 50 views if you can pull off a juggle routine with the turntables on either end :P...
But seriously... a lot of people are wondering about this..
Yes, I will be connecting the turntables. That's one of the things I wanted to try out for sure! :)
djTLMtv thanks so much ! ...Can't wait to see the results... I've been literally practicing on my decks set three feet apart in anticipation... not sure what to think though, you might be costing me 2 Gs !
Btw... I was thinking it might be interesting to try and juggle between the Turntable and Pioneer platter on the same side, and maybe even incorporate the pads... if thats even feasible.....
anyway... keep up the good work ! ... Peace !
hey do you made that beat cause its amazing!
can you send me a link or whatever?
What's Up I have a question! Have you tried the Pioneer DDJ-sb ? If so is that good for turntablism? Im on a low budget and starting out I want to eventually get into turntablism. Do you recommend the Pioneer DDJ-sb for starting out, then upgrading to technics etc....thanks! Peace
I had my first hands on experience with the SB yesterday and I ended up using it for my Saturday Sessions video Saturday Sessions 4 (the SB edition)
You can use it for scratching, but it is a small unit. Turntablism is not going to work well, but I will test that this week when I do the full review
I guess this was a test so that's why it's not the smoothest of beat juggling right?
Yup, just a quick test. And it was the first time using it and it does take some time to get used to the feeling because it is way different than my moving platters ;)
Please let me know. And excuse my typos. I don't know why Everytime I use an apostrophe s a whole heap of gibberish comes out..
Straight up DMC style! This shit was so fly, my computer grew wings!! :-D
Well done TLM. Thanks for sharing.
why the DDJ-SZ over the NS7 II, when you had the ns7 before for the moving platters
Edward Lair I don't have a SZ. I was given the chance to try it out and also do a review. I would choose the NS7II over the SZ ANY DAY! :)
i have the ns7 2, never had the one, but my boy did. i played on his pretty easily. but this 2 is pure pleasure. between the comfort of the platters, the easy use of effects, the easy use of loops etc.. I traded in 2 Denon 3900s, the pioneer Djm t1, and my sl3 box, that i had linked to my Pioneer Ddj-SP1 for this all in one monster. Even though the set up i just mentioned was only 8 months old, and tuned to my liking, I never had one day of regret after getting the ns72. there are so many options, i'm still trying new combinations to this day. Unlimited creativity. Get it if you can. If not, Try adding the DDJ- SP1 with your ns7 and serato dj 1.7.5, youll thank me later. Best wishes brother. Keep helping us become better dj's. I appreciate you for it!!
Before you your test did you change the latency settings in Serato DJ?
Scratching on a controller has always felt harder than turntables for obvious reasons haha. (The torque in the motor belt)
Wish I had the cash for one!
Question for you? Before your test did you change the latency settings in Serato DJ? if so what do you recommend?
Ok... I have the SZ It is great and I have a latency issue with the booth out and the headphones... I have been trying to find a solutinon to this issue andy thoughts..
+Twelve Spanka windows or mac?
Mac & Lenovo intel processor I7 which is pretty fast.. I have tried everything I could think of same issue
0:54 ?? What u doing???
A basic beat juggle pattern
djTLMtv or cool I'll look up on how to to it, btw u have a video on how to do that?
Have you tried the ns7lll
Damn! He’s 🔥🔥🔥🔥

DDJ-SZ Jog Wheel Sensitivity Observations
What about the complaints from new buyers about the platter not being sensitive enough? Just search platter sensitivity issues right here on UA-cam. Looks fine to me though from your cuts and juggles. Like around 1:20 single finger tap to break the beat. I'll check out your full review to really hear your opinion on this bad boy. Thanks for taking the time. Your time and effort is appreciated.
I've seen some of those video's, but the unit I used did not have that problem. I have it back here now for a new video and the response was still fine.
I’m wondering what program did you use serato dj or dj pro or pioneers rekordbox thanks
Serato DJ. Rekordbox DJ wasn’t out back then.
Thank you
Yo, I see people post cool videos of themselves scratching and doing Turntablism stuff on youtube.
But I was woundering, how do they prepare their set, or the tracks they use I should say....
I'm assuming they are using Serato DJ or Scratch live.
(I want to start doing that some time soon as well...)
You don't need Serato to do scratching or some turntablism stuff. You can use a 'normal' DJ set as well.
When it comes to preparing a routine it's all about deciding what you want to showcase and then find the most suitable tracks/sounds to do that with. Once you have that you have to build a routine and practice it. It's going to be hard to explain how to do that in a post
Okay thanks! :)
And I use Serato DJ as my way of DJing.
I was just wounder if they use the 'record' Feature, to like separate their sounds and stuff...
I also have seen DJs do it with real vinyl, like DJ Qbert on UA-cam. its amazing :)
salut je voulet brancher mon ddjsz et mes cdj2000 sur serato peut tu me donner un tutaux merci
that first kick in scratch, thats the military, ryt?
No, the military scratch is a pattern of cuts. I show an example of the military scratch in one of my scratch tutorials. ua-cam.com/video/0sa4kktZRoU/v-deo.htmlm50s
numark ns7ii
no jodas eso es todo
Did this allow you to do this fresh out tue box without having to make any adjustments through your dj software? I have a shitty mixtrack pro at the moment and this thing is impossible to work with. So I was wondering before I end up just getting some CDJs. Just to save a headache and money in the world of mixers.. I rather just have a full platform like this to work with if it can work full range. If not... here I come CDJ world.
Damn that was tight!!
Is this one the same size of the NS7 2 ?...thinking to get one of those but I don't know which one is better... those moving platters give good feeling though!! Man I wish I could scratch like you ..Nice work by the way
They are about the same size. Wait for my comparison video to see them side by side. It's coming asap!
djTLMtv hey bro how is it going? have a quick question for you. See I just got the ddj-sz and while familiarizing myself with sound come effects I don't know what I did but I can't get the echo ti activate again everything else comes in except that. Pls help brother.
Who the hell needs 4 CDJ`s? This controller ist the best thing you can buy!
i have the ns6 thinking about turntable whats your advice on which is better
That all about personal preference so I can't answer that for you. Some people (like me) prefer the feeling of moving platters and others prefer jogwheels. You have to try out some turntables somewhere to see if you like the feeling
Idea: TLM X Angelo fancy turntablism :D
Anything is possible so we'll see what the future brings! :)
djTLMtv Thank you :D
papi show the price
$2000
I have the SX and I keep telling my self that I don't NEED the SZ. Your videos are not helping! LOL DVS on a controller would be nice!
A bit messy. Not amazing great but it was good. Thanks for the upload man.
No doubt, this wasn't a routine by any means. Just a quick test to see if some of the basic turntablism techniques would work with this unit.
Yeah right! I’d like to see you juggle the same on a digital jog wheel! “ a bit messy “! FOH
One thing is sure.. you need a shoe closet ;)
Hi could it be the same size with the SX
+Otiesh Francis What do you mean?
I was thinking that it is the same size with the Pioneer DDJ sx. but I found the SZ is actually slightly bigger. thanx for the video it was so educative.
This fool is a fucking savage!!
DJ./reds in b,more l
Like it
Whats up
Hoe doet u dit ooit?!
how much do these cost?
I believe 2000,-
goddamn :D
Yo dj TLM I need some help!! I need to buy a new controller and am between this and the numark ns7 2!!?? Which would you chose??!! Currently I am using the pio ddjsx
I will have the NS7-2 here this wednesday so you can expect a full review and a comparison with the DDJ-SZ very soon. Probably this weekend!
HEY WHATS THE BEST SCRATCHING CONTROLLER YOU KNOW OF?
numark ns7 iii. hands fucking down.
numark ns7 iii. hands fucking down.
numark ns7 iii. hands fuckin down.
REALLY? IMA LOOK INTO THIS...THANKS FOR THE INFO
Lol phone was trippin, but yeah its the only full sized controller with motorized turntables. I've been told it feels like technics but with a smaller platter.
Why are the EDM artists called DJ's when there is no turntablism involved just beat mixing and electronic effects. The D in DJ is for disc!!
