She was FANTASTIC!!!
Absolutely top tier!!!
"80s Ladies" was one of her big hits if not her first.
Great song! Britt definitely needs to react to 80's Ladies and watch the official video..
@@8tomtoms8 If she does, the live versions I have seen on YT are of poor quality(both sound and picture) or of KT when she was much older and her voice was not as good or somewhat out of tune. But yes a very melancholy and witty written song.
Hi! I love that you're exploring KT Oslin finally! :) here's some backstory for you.
KT was born in 1942 and joined a folk band with Guy Clark in college. The Broadway show Hello Dolly came to Houston and she auditioned and got the part and moved to NYC. Later she was in Promises, Promises.
Following that she did many commercials: denture adhesive, hemorrhoid cream etc.
Around 1982 she got a music deal and released Clean Your Own Tables which didn't peak and she was dropped. She went through a depression, gained weight and then decided she knew better than the music label.
She borrowed $ from an aunt and made a demo and did a show in Nashville for execs. She signed with RCA records.
Signature song. 80's ladies.
Other hits: hey Bobby, hold me, this woman, didn't expect it to go Down this Way, mary and Willie, come next monday, do ya, I'll always come back, new way home, Cornell Crawford , younger men....also done at farm aid!, two hearts and silver tongue and gold plated lies.
Albums. 80's ladies, this woman, love in a small town, my roots are showing, live close by visit often, and simply kt oslin.
Didn't make it until she was 45!
She never married and had no children.
She lived in NYC for over 21 years.
She was the first female to win country album of the year cma.
She unseated Reba as female vocalist after 4 year winning streak.
She wrote Do Ya after noticing the little things married friends started bickering about after about year 5 of marriage.
She wrote Hey Bobby after going to a fish fry in Nashville.
Each song she wrote is a different story with a different character she had in mind while writing, while throwing in some personal parts.
The gloves! She did NOT have anything wrong with or dislike her hands. She wore a pair to her first awards show and people made such a fuss she made it her trademark look and man she nailed it!
There was a rumor of a feud with Reba and the 2 did a skit on TNN...available on UA-cam....hilarious!
She is memorialized at Woodlawn cemetery in Nashville right beside Tammy Wynette.
She passed fom covid and Parkinson's complications.
Thanks Britt.
Great bio!! Thanks! 😊
The reason she didn't start singing until her forties is because she did time on in theater so I imagine there was dancing as well as acting jobs. It was in her forties, that a guy from nashville found her discovered her and and brought her on down... other songs come next monday, Eighties ladies, i ain't gonna love nobody but cornell crawford.
Old Cornell is one of my all time favs. I love KT
She came up late and left us all too soon, but what she left us is pure gold.
Yeah, more K.T. Oslin!!!! Please continue down this fantastic rabbit hole! She was amazing!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Me 🤝 Rabbit Hole
@brittreacts I'm there for you!!!! She's a fave!!! Love ya Britt!!!
She was awesome and so true to herself and as you said you can feel that in her performances...she did not need to make up a stage character because she was a wonderful character as herself❤❤❤❤
I always liked the line, 🎶”Drink a champagne toast in a plastic cup.”🎶
Now THAT’S country!!! 👍🏼
RIP KT! She was a great singer song writer
Britt, you don’t know how much it warms my heart to see your love for KT! I was a 12yr old kid when she had her first hit. I fell in love before she hit the first chorus! I’m so happy that her music lives on!
Btw, if you want sassy, check out “Younger Men”!
That era of country was some of the best country ever
Eighties Ladies is a must by K.T.
I always got Eartha Kitt vibes from her. I will always love K.T.❤
"Hold Me" is a slower one but will not you off your feet
I always love KT Oslin
She played in a movie, called a thing, called love, and that was river phoenix‘s last movie. It was terrific.
When she came on to the country scene, it was fast and terrific. I got to see her one time in concert at Billy Bob’s Texas, and she was great. Then she walked away from the road, and away from the touring reported that she had depression, but I would be depressed too, because I think she had quadruple bypass surgery and after she got better I think she did come out with another album that did well, and then another one that didn’t
But I do know later on that she did develop I think in 2015 something like that maybe 2010 something like that she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and I know that because I am a Parkinson’s patient and it has devastated not only her but Linda Ronstadt, Neil Diamond and others
But I’ll always remember this little sassy woman and the reason she likes to wear gloves because she didn’t like to look at our hands. She always said if she could make it in country music she could sell gloves.
Take care and God bless
I love The Thing Called Love. Totally recognized her the second I saw her. The fact that that movie not only was River Phoenix’s last one, but also starred young Sandra Bullock, Dermot Mulroney, and Samantha Mathis. Such a strong cast.
she always wore the gloves because she didn't like the way her hands looked, AMAZING singer, 80's Ladies and Come Next Monday are 2 of her best!!
This Arkansas gal was such an amazing entertainer. Be sure to also check out 80’s Ladies and Come Next Monday.
If u do Come Next Monday u must watch the video! So unexpected! KT is known for her music videos!
YOUNGER MEN is one of my favorites by her!!
You just loved every second of this. Like one short moment you weren't smiling or having a stank face for her. Love it.
I'll always come back, come next monday, hold me and 80s ladies are great also
Next up, please: "Yours, Truly Blue"
and yay for doing "Hey Bobby" and yay on the pronunciation
She spent many years in NYC in musical productions.
The Maybelline thing, 🤣🤣 You do crack me up, sometimes
Yes, K T was in New York performing in theater when she was younger
she’s a broadway queen. check out her broadway catalog
I can tell you all you need to know about k t oslin and yes she was on broadway with hello dolly promise promise. She was in well commercials as well.
Love all the KT love! I got sucked down the KT rabbit hole a few years ago. I absolutely love this woman. I would also recommend some of her interviews as well as her songs.
I know you already reacted to Do Ya, but she performed that song on the Arsenio Hall show (it’s on UA-cam). It’s probably my favorite performance of the song. I would definitely recommend checking it out. Also getting to see her interact with LL Cool J is fun.
As far as songs, 80’s Ladies is her most popular and for good reason. The songwriting is amazing. I also recommend: Where is a Woman to Go, Cornell Crawford, Come Next Monday, Neva Sawyer, Down in the Valley.
Honestly, her whole discography is amazing. You won’t be disappointed. Thanks again for sharing KT with everyone. 😊
I love KT , may she rest in peace...

I found a JEWEL on yt the other day and thought of your channel when I saw it because i know you react to live performances. It doesn't have that many views but I know you'll love it! It's Conway Twitty - "I Can't Stop Loving You"! Enjoy and thanks for what you do!
RIP K.T. - you were great!
An all time great song and singer ❤❤❤
It's no wonder I didn't get saved until 2001 with the kind of lyrics and performers I loved and was tuned in to back then. It's so easy to see in retrospect. Subtil?
My song! Love this
I am one who was lucky enough to be able to follow her from her beginning! Love her so much! She has been my favorite since I first heard her! Love that you are reacting to her and sharing her with the world again!!! ❤
My Mawmaw was called Aunt Bobby by her nieces and nephews.
I still think you should do a cover of “Do Ya”. You’d kill it!
Hi Britt, I was one of those that mentioned and recommended this sassy performance. So, thank you much. It's like you were answering my request. She was Just Kay Oslin for years, but Kay Oslin didn't really catch on. K.T. Oslin exploded on the scene and became a Superstar seemingly overnight. Of course that was hardly the case, and yes she was an actress. Now you need to discover my beloved Lari White. Alas, we are coming up this week, next Thursday January 23rd on the 7th Anniversary of her death at just 52 years of age. It would be wonderful to see her featured on that day. Here's an appearance by Lari on Nashville Now from back in 1993. She opens the show with "Where The Lights Are Low" which I think you will love. She is impossible not to love! A brief chat with the legendary Ralph Emory is included. Unfortunately, the second song, which Lari wrote the ""Just Thinking" was joined in progress here, as the early portion is missing. The 3rd song is complete. ua-cam.com/video/N-V654CFZ1c/v-deo.html You might consider reacting to Lari's duet with Travis Tritt which she co-wrote "Helping Me Get Over You". Or perhaps her Duet with Toby Keith "Only God Could Stop Me Loving You" on the 23rd.
I got to see her live! She was AMAZING!!!!
80s Ladies is THE KT song
KT started out on Broadway. Your impressions of her dance moves & expressiveness were on point!
Epic reaction! Loved your appreciation for her and her natural charisma. Love watching you
You need to watch K.T.'s Younger Men.
omg I forgot all about her, thank you for reminding me how much I loved her and how great she was, wish more people reacted to older music!!

Ronnie Milsap “ It was almost like a song “
Everything she did was good. Please keep going down this rabbit hole. Come Next Monday is fun.
My brother’s name was Bob! 😊 RIP Colonel! 🫡
Don't over think it
I think she was only Broadway before country music
KT was on Broadway
Have you done Janis Joplin " Me And Bobby McGee" yet?
you should try Vern Gosdin he was know as the voice.

Eighties Ladies is an awesome K.T. song! Check it out!
You need to react to Hold on by KT
