    In the US we come up with a new way to do stuff and then destroy all the old ways.
    I have so much respect for Japanese craftsmen keeping this stuff going.

    A beautiful richness and warmth to the cedar that tempers the rather harsh orange of the previous building material! Artistry in harmony with the gorgeous gardens! Thank you for this delightful video!

    Nice camera work. Also appreciated the information about fastening the bark to accommodate seasonal shrinkage.

    Every time I see the gardens, it gets better and better. Now I live far from Rockford, and I miss this place most of all. In memory of Jack Brand.

    Thank you for showing us more skilled craftsmen and craftswomen! This is such a natural way to finish this fence! Those nail screws are very cool! In 2018 I visited Myoshin-ji so I could see the suikinkutsu at Taizoin! I could not visit the subtemple in you video because it was not open, but I believe I got one picture looking through the main gate! Next time I go to Japan, I would definitely go and explore Myoshin-ji again; I hope I would get to see the work in this video! By the way, do the craftsmen in this video only work with wood and bamboo materials; do they specialize in this kind of work? Thank you for your video, as always!

    • @JapaneseGardenTV
      @JapaneseGardenTV  3 роки тому +2

      Oh, I see!
      You'll have to visit Myoshinji again when this pandemic is over! 😊
      I'm sure you'll see these cedar bark fences!
      These craftsmen specialize in bamboo fences!
