Kobe dropped 30 on this man while splitting time guarding prime Melo.
He wasn’t a starter kobe was so he dropped it on the team
Still averaged 34 n 6 on fg 48% wit jones n smith as his primary defenders…

The Mamba had no weakness. This fool Dahntay a Kobe hater & anyone who witnessed those games would tell you this man truly has hatred in his heart. He blamed everything from minutes, the triangle, coaching substitutions, iso plays for Beans success against him lmao. Best part is him saying Kobe started doing work as soon as he was subbed out that game versus Atlanta, implying his greatness as a defender.

Kobe had plenty weakness that's why he ask so many questions stop it basketball is more then scoring

Players always give respect and props to VC...non players never do and disrespect that man in every way.
Yep. People that don’t play disparage VC and act as he had no work ethic.
I've never seen or heard anybody disrespect vince carter... actually he us loved by even casual fans...what are you talking about???
I’ve never seen anyone disrespect Vince lol
@@lagosfury5142 Lots of sports media tend to diminish Vince's status in the game. The media has been a little more respectful to him in recent years, but he's clearly held in higher regard by players that played against him.
Vince was a superstar who performed at an all star level
I remember Kobe went into Memphis and dropped 60 and Dahntay caught a lot of them. I remember Dahntay was in Denver and Kobe destroyed him.
Love when people put some respect on Vince Carter’s name.
I was looking for this comment. I feel the same.
That’s my favorite player
People only think all he did was dunk.. Vince could shoot that mf too
ABSOLUTELY!
For sure
I think he was being honest about Vince Carter. I'm a Jordan guy but just on talent alone. Vince is as good as it gets. He could do everything from an offense stand point.
Let's not go overboard now. Vince was a very good player, yes! But as good as it gets? Now we're judging based on feelings instead of results. You can't be as good as it gets and not make it to 1 Finals and only compete in 1 conference Finals, which he lost
@powertothetubers456 talent, his offensive skills NOT his resume. He didn't have the killer instinct like MJ to win rings but he had the offensive skill and Athleticism

@@kengrant3227 lol... cool opinion, buddy.
@Po Nomo before VC got hurt, VC was definitely better than Kobe. Kobe just had the luxury of Shaq in the frontcourt. After the injury, Kobe did surpass Vince. But you need to stop. VC was stronger, quicker first step, better 3 point shooter, free throw shooter and shot blocker from 99-02 before the injuries.
@@Blastboost86 FACTS! It was as if both Kobe and T Mac battled for VC’s crown after he got injured 😂
He was aggressive with Kobe in Denver and still got cooked in the WCF.
Kobe used to give this dude HELLLLLLL
Jones talkin DRUNK. We ALL saw Kobe give that man hell on countless occasions till the point all he had left was to try to hurt that guy. Vince wasn't out there ever working Jones like Kobe was. And truth be told no one ever looked at Jones as a defensive player. He was hella pesky but not on a Tony Allen/Shane Battier level. Not a knock on Vince cause he was a BEAST but to say Kobe didn't give you problems like Vince did... WILDIN.
It's different for some players. Someone just had the skill set that you couldn't deal with as good as someone else. Vince was way more athletic than Kobe so that's probably what Jones had the most problems with. I remember Ron Artest, who played against Kobe, MJ, Iverson, Vince, and every other great scorer you can think of said that Brandon Roy was the hardest player to guard.
@@igorkalezic4739 Brandon Roy was THAT nigga!. Injuries took that man down.

*Finally somebody paying Vince his due*
Richard Jefferson also said Vince was the most talented player he’s ever seen
Jordan also said Vince was tough, too
Yes sir I agree
Yes give vince his due lol
It's unfortunate that Vince himself is so damn humble. He didnt wish for himself as an analyst, but it's a travesty that he isn't on that top 75 list. He's 19th on the all time scoring list and that's taking 7 FGA a game for the last 10 years of his career!
Vince definitely was nice I remember him going against the sixers in the playoffs
Vince was something special, but the lack of a championship makes people sleep on him. I've heard Richard Jefferson and Matt Barnes say he was flat out the most talented player they ever played against. Arenas also made a similar point that if Vince got angry, you realized he was the most talented player and simply unstoppable. Back when Igoduola was a defensive stopper with the Sixers, he said in an interview that Vince was the most difficult player to guard. He was something special.

One of a very exclusive list including KD and Larry Bird to average over 1 blk per game and shoot over 40% from 3 for a season.
Kobe was making history that year. Also being noticed by Skip Bayless as MJ like. But D. Jones slid under him and caused a really really bad ankle injury which later became the pre injury to the ruptured Achilles.
Saw Dahntay & Jay Williams playing pick-up at the Duke Rec center around 2001-2002.
Dahntay was freaking ripped back in the day. I know most basketball players have low bodyfat but he and Jay Will also had some muscle relative to other basketball players during that timeframe.

This man was a bot and was never known for being a great defender cuz he rarely even got enough playing time to even develop that reputation. If Kobe was still here and heard this madness, he would laugh at him then invite him for a 1v1 and if he were bold enough to accept it, he would literally 10-0 that man easy without breaking 1 sweat. T-Mac was exactly who I was thinking of when they mentioned that list. That guy had similar skills and athleticism as VC and Kobe, but had more length than both... took it harder to the basket than VC and was a better 3 point shooter than Kobe. Not saying T-Mac was better... in case I am gonna rile up all the haters, cause I do think T-Mac didn't want your heart like Kobe did, but I do think T-Mac and Vince did suffer from the "game being too easy" for them and not really being as maniacal as KB to be great!

You can at least admit he tried to hurt him on purpose.
Vince had all the talent there wasn't anything he couldnt do the difference between kobe and vince was Kobe's work ethic and killer mentality to win
Also Shaq. Don't forget shaq. Vince's career numbers were basically a wash with Kobe's in the first 10 years if their careers. Kobe certainly wanted more FGAs, but he also was just was on better teams while vince was elevating lottery teams to the second round.

I a,ways said Dahntay looks like the light skinned Kobe.
I think also Kobe knew he had to play 40 min a game, and sometimes if you don't have to, you don't need to spend that much energy when it's not necessary,...i look at MJ, he only went 100% when he had to (now brothas are shooting 40 3's so it's hard to coast lol) but Giannis is 1 player I can count that goes 100% all the time and he is gassed and needs 2-3 extra min. off, so Kobe was doing self-preservation.
never knew I loved dahntay jones so much ahahahahahahahaha
I tell my kids how in HS we did a 3 on 2, 2 on 1 and D Jones, who was a year ahead of me was the 1 coming back and slipped and he ran like hell and thought he was gonna block the hell out of my shot. Well I threw the best head fake of my life and I will always remember the look on his face and hearing him say oh sh*t as he flew by me.
