A couple of my girlfriends and I went to go see it in the theater for the first time this past weekend, and I couldn't believe the hilarious and obscene call backs the die hard fans that have studied the timing and little details of the movie did. We were dying of laughter because we were sitting next to a guy that had clearly been seasoned in doing the callbacks and his timing for them was on point. I can honestly agree, that if you have never seen this in a theater, do it once in your lifetime. Even if you have to travel to do so, because the fandom will make it an experience.
@@lettucebeetgoodsandeats1192 In the late 70's (and beyond) they used to play this at midnight every Saturday night at one of the art-house movie theaters in Phoenix. Full dress-up, throwing toast, rice, etc, and of course, all the dancing and callbacks. It's a great memory of my youth.
Yesss. Haha. She’s like, “Why did you just do that? After we’ve REPEATEDLY asked you to stop doing that?” Lol. Magentas always been jealous of Columbia though, I think. Lol
when this was a big thing in the 70s, my dad told me he used to go to live shows all dressed up and recite the lines and throw things at the stage with all the other people. when i got into college he told me that around halloween i should try to find a production to go and watch.
Yep, saw it live in my college days on campus in the mid 80's. Had to wear a rain coat, or you'd regret it. Key phrase, "Where's your F-ng neck!" 😂 Guess you had to be there!!! 😭
It's literally just a jump to the left, a step to the right, putting your hands on your hip, keeping your knees tight and then dry humping the air! I can do that too...I hope! :D
Apart from the fact that they're listening to Nixon's resignation speech on the radio right before the car breaks down, which very specifically dates the events of the film to the night of August 8/9, 1974. (Mind you, August 8th was a Thursday, which would be a very odd day for Ralph and Betty to have their wedding.) On the other hand, The Criminologist says it was a "late November evening" (although it's unclear if he means late in the month of November, or late at night on any November evening), despite nobody at the wedding being dressed for late-November in Ohio, when the daytime temperatures would be around 45°F. Of course, this is RHPS we're talking about here. Logical consistency was probably not a major concern to Ritz when he wrote it ...
Harder for UA-cam to find and take down movies if they are shown in short clips I think? It's lame though, this is like the highest quality version of the Time Warp and it isn't in full hahah
At a theatre festival, they had an outdoor stage up for an impromptu concert. My friends Joseph, Jasmine, and I got up to do this song. Joseph played Riff Raff, Jasmine played Magenta, and I played Colombia. It was really fun.
Experienced the RHPS my first semester in college at the student union. I wasn't sure why we got lunch bags full of rice, squirt guns, newspapers, etc. at the door... so awesome to live this!!!
I had an english teacher in 10th grade that was showing us the song for the first time. Right as the man says “jump to the left” my english fell out from under his rug. We all thought it was an act, now seeing the ending of this video... it was ironically hilarious. He even said... “well thats how it ends” lmao. Who failed today now mr. booher?
In college I photographed kids dancing the Time Warp under the theater lights outside of the Biograph Theater in Chicago. I was in a photography 101 class and vaguely learned how to push film. This was back in 1978 when the movie was just getting to be a cult favorite. I got some amazing photos! Can't show them publicly because I never got releases. What did I know. I was a newby. I vaguely told the dancers that I worked for Time Magazine (eyes roll). ;-) What amazed me was all of these high school and maybe some college age kids dressed up as the characters and knew every dance, They danced on the stage in front of the movie and danced in the aisles. They were all like "theater club" kids. They were regulars. And even crazier to me at the time... (but I understand it now) was seeing Moms pick up their costumed "theater club kid" in their station wagon after the show ended at 2 am. Mom wore her robe and hair curlers while she picked up her spangled-costumed "theater club" kid. Middle America 1978. Ya gotta love it.

Loved dressing up in my maids outfit when we would go to the movie. We would all line up in the isles and do the time warp dance. Man those were the days.
The miniature flags on the buffet table seem to stand in alphabetical order, by their names in English. It's difficult to see them clearly. (Greece, Japan, Netherlands, Panama, South Africa, Spain)
My favorite thing about this entire movie is that brad just goes along so easily with everything. He hardly has to be persuaded LOL.
he goes down easy
When Frank says he's a "perfect specimen of manhood - so dominant", you know what he's REALLY thinking.
You will never see anything quite like going to a theater showing this. The fans are insane but it’s just amazing to watch
Did they dance in the theartre? Sounds like a great night.
