I've done some sketchy stuff in my life but I don't think I've ever lifted a 50,000 pound tractor with a bottle jack on a jack stand then walked under it. I'm glad y'all put something under it. I was having a heart attack lol.
I don't know about you guys, but I see prepping for spring planting and I get excited. Granted my farming experience is limited to a backyard garden I used to do as a kid with my dad, and playing farming simulator on xbox, but the two times of the year I get the most excited for is planting and harvest. I'm looking forward to the planting videos! And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; Mark 4:26
Hi welker farms I sent leg arms I get well card earlier this year and you were part of my inspiration to follow in a farming like my grandfather and yesterday I bought my very own international 986 tractor thanks for the great contents you are great inspiration for me. - Tag
Nick I'm in a cold climate here in Idaho too and what I did with my trucks air hoses is I got rid of the plastic air lines and went with DOT rated air hoses for my gladhands. They're cheaper, like $0.80 cents per foot and they're flexible when it's cold.
From all the farm channels I'm subscribed to, you guys are probably the most who use the most used equipment when it comes to farmers farming a thousand acres or more. Most have newer equipment. Looks like you guys can get the job done.
Our operation uses those air filter cleaners regularly with daily maintenance. They work really well to clean them out. One thing is to make sure you have set up properly though, if not those spinning bits can snap and break. Very good investment for what they are worth and the performance they do.
Hey Nick At work we use Breaks and Clutch cleaner to remove oil or grease (we have a box full of spray cans of that cleaning stuff ) It's very efficient :-)
Your skid steer should have a bypass plug by the window washer hose and wiper wires. So you can take the door off when you need to get out with the boom up.
Seeing that old Deere pull the drill seeder really gives perspective to how the size of equipment has changed. Another great vid, I’ve never seen the 435 before! I worked late online and wound down with these vids, thanks again fellas!
With the brake drums you can use a die grinder to take the lip off the edge, then use a sanding drum (like 30 or 60 grit, or something fairly aggressive) on a drill or die grinder just to take the shine off the braking surface (give it like a cross pattern) to allow for better brake shoe bedding in.
Always throw away the plastic blue and red curley air lines. Always! Even if new. Always use rubber air hoses. After 30 years of practice this is the best management practice for my truck.
See many others have commented on this. When Nick walked under the rig I just thought oh crap and prayed the darn jack would not give out or fall over or what ever. Betting they will have proper safety supports soon.
Well I have to say the blocks of concrete have every Bud setting on them several times apiece over the years during every rebuild and repair sometimes for an extended periods of time
So many of these things that you do, I did 25/30 years ago. That brings memory back. I am sure that you know that your planetary covers will go back in only one position. It is a good idea to mark them (not with a marker) before disassembly. Do not ask me how I know that.
All the brakes I did years ago and never thought to use a pallet jack to lift a set of duals up and away from rig. I used a greasy flat piece of steel on the floor and then find the sweet spot on the jack/tires and slide them out. Wasn't fun if the ground wasn't all that level or some other thing caused some grief to take off.
Looks like you have a big job on your hands with the sprayer, hopefully the buds are only in need of a oil change. Keep up the good work and keep smiling. Rob from the 🇬🇧
That big break drum you put on the truck at the start of the video reminded me about something you don't what to ever do. Back in the late 90s I drove a over night auto parts run. On one night I dropped one of those big break drums on my foot. It broke a couple of my toes. Ouch...!!!
Drums are ok to reuse, only thing if you can, is to machine/regrind the grooves out of the surface. Spring is in full swing, so im seeing forward to seeding videos. 👍
I did that in a humvee once, ONCE lol. I took off with the park brake on, didn't notice it until I smelled the burning brakes lol. It was an up armored one too so it was really heavy and if you've every driven one off road, you kinda know the lag in acceleration that is ever present lol. Lesson learned, especially because I had First Sargent as a passenger and I was an E3 at the time lol. He was cool about it. I was so scared he was gonna smoke me but he didn't.
You could the black rubber hoses on the back of your international Road tractor. Those twisty plastic lines break and are such a pain. If you get the nice solid black rubber ones they are flexible easy to coil up and so much nicer you guys will be so happy
Also I did not leave that comment as a keyboard warrior or a couch engineer lol sorry if it came off that way. I run those hoses and I really like them so I just wanted to share
Spring on the farm. Going though all the equipment getting ready to plant. Make sure to have that light / LED showing the brakes are on / off fixed. Not cheap replacing drums / brakes. Take care - hope the family and you are doing well. Be safe 'Spin'
You GO guys, lay the smack down on those rigs.. Really enjoy watching you work.. I can watch all day.. to old, to fat, to work on stuff any more but I can watch. You guys be careful out there..
I saw a case skid steer 175 year special red addition just the other day, it was a wheeled version. When i saw it i thought of you guys. It was near Graettinger, a northwest Iowa town.
Thanks for your video. Appreciate your time to do this for us. I find it absolutely so interesting working on the big buds and big brute. Everything is super sized and takes extra effort and parts to take apart and back together again. You folks do an excellent job of working with this and you make it work. This huge equipment is just interesting. Wish back in my day would have had the opportunity to use and work on large equipment. When we got our 460 and 560 internationals we thought they were huge but no where close to this-oh my!!! You have a lot of large equipment to help with taking the wheels off and such. That all helps, need the right stuff to do the job. Looks like the seed bag roll up idea worked good for you all-great idea and bags saved for another use. Will be interesting to see brute fixed again and ready. Understand getting all ready as soon will be time to hit the field and get the job done. Everything needs to operate at top efficiency and go for hours on end. Do understand. Thanks again for showing us the work in progress. God bless all of you always. Take care. Iowa farm boy from years ago.
I have learned so much by watching you n armless I'm going to start farming on my own in my back yard. I have a 10'×10' spot in back yard. Thanks for sharing!
An adapter plate for the tire inflator (the portable air tank with the high output) and one blast you'll near instantly get all the dirt out of your air filters!
Get the arctic air hose set up for the truck. They have 3/8“ rubber hoses and run the armor shielding around hoses and cord. I ran that on truck and they last a lot longer and you can fix them with the regular air hose fittings.
Safer too, if you blow the emergency line going down the road it's a pretty wild ride. I was behind a truck in Illinois one time where that happened. Luckily he was just leaving a rest stop and wasn't going that fast yet.
Thank you welkers for being safe 👍👍after scotts accident and thinking he might lose his arm im so impressed thank yous thank yous god bless you all stay safe your one of my favorites 😍😉👍🙏
It is SOOO good to see LegArms back working. Maybe not at 100% but still good to see. Praying for a wonderful 2021 season for you guys. Be safe and have fun!
You guys need a house oven in the garage so you can set the drums in it and cook the oil out of them. If they would fit of course ? lol. Great video and thumbs up !!
Meanwhile in northern Canada 🇨🇦 we're just getting ready to film another snowcat video and waiting for 6 inches more snow on Saturday ha ha ha !!!! Good work as always Boys!!!!
I was deployed in Kuwait when Covid hit and they closed our gyms. I had managed to acquire a barbell and we got our hands on two sets of junk brake drums. We did a lottle nickel rod welding to be able to put the drums on the barbell. Worked great for deadlifts, kinda sketchy for squats. Fred Flintstone ingenuity.
@@WelkerFarms Hmmm, Nick or LegArms? We also got 12 Humvee rotors. Weighed about 15 lbs each. Welded 3 for 45s, 2 for 30, and singles. Non-standard but much safer for squats and pressing. Also scoured the scrapyard and got some smaller drums from some trailer and road wheels from some track vehicle. They were about 75 lbs and were safe-ish for squats and pressing. The road wheels were like those strongman deadlifts but much lighter!
So I watch your guys videos all the time And there was one that your dad was fixing wheel bearing on a car he was giving away and my car was starting to do the same thing. Long story short that was the problem with mine as well tell him thanks for the tip it made finding the problem easy and fast and the car is back on the road 😀 👍
Id like to make a suggestion about the Semis airlines, my company has been using rubber airlines and in the cold they seem to hold up a lot better than the coiled kind, would definitely be a option to consider.

Mmmm reeses 🍬 😊
My drill is still buried in snow here in east central saskatchewan
@@richardradawetz6192 wow. I live in Idaho and the snow is almost all gone. were already planting onions and potatoes here
You mean races right? LOL 😆
I want all the Reese's inside me 🤤

Waking those BIG BUDS is like the bears comming out of hibernation. Good to see that the spring weather is on the way.I 😃
Your parents can really be proud of their son's, you two guys have learned well congrats to your mentors!
Here here ... well said Russell
And the farm will bring running for many years.
I'm being schooled by them. They say I take too much recess time😊
The John Deere brings back some great memories from the 80's growing up on a Georgia farm. One of JD's best tractor of its era.
Be Safe and Be Patient out there around all that heavy iron you guys! Successful preparations are a great start for a productive season. -Bob...

Love watching all you guys work together, you make a great team!

Love seeing all the buds fire up good to see the old Iron come to life
Great job fixing the semi LegArms
👍👍 Always amazed at what you guys can repair in that fantastic shop.
Proud of you guys Nick Scott and your Dad for keeping them old tractors and equipment in such good running order. Tip my hat to ya.
You can have all the new stuff but nothing will ever be as awesome as the fleet of Buds!!

UA-cam Dairy Farm New York they have tractors with 30000 Plus hours. Unreal what they do to fix stuff.
Rubber air lines will be your best friend! No more brittle air lines snapping in cold weather!

You can get most of the oil out of the drums by baking them in the oven clean cycle and then washing them with acetone a couple times.
Growing up on a farm with older equipment I noticed it was about 90 percent mechanic work and about 10 percent field work!
I remember some one in Cole’s comments that said farmers are Mechanics with an oversized gardening hobby

Great work Guys, exciting times getting ready for spring planting, but work safe,
I am a retired heavy truck builder and it is good to see you do it right, you will not regret it when it is redone correctly.
I Love the Big Buds. Welker Farms has the best & unique "tonka-like" tractors.
Your skid steer should have a bypass plug by the window washer hose and wiper wires. So you can take the door off when you need to get out with the boom up.
