You are exactly right. It's probably the first time anyone has ever showed any interest in him as a person. Imagine going 48 years of your life just being an object. Mark just asked him one question and the flood gates opened...One reason I think this channel is so important.

What if he actually said the first thing I did was start drinking, and then I started doing drugs? In terms of the meaning of what he's saying, what effect does that have? I'm asking seriously. In other videos and comments I keep hearing people being so adamant about what you're saying.
But im not understanding why THAT'S something that people want to keep focusing on. Because even if people and videos don't specifically refer to alcohol as a drug, I don't hear them implying that it's any less detrimental or any thing like that. It seems to me that the issue is US feeling a need 2 make sure that certain people stigmatize alcohol, knowing that the word drug has the stigma that they want to associate with alcohol. But regardless of whether or not somebody says alcohol is a drug, which I agree with you it is, but regardless of whether or not they say it, it still carries that same negative wait to me what an impact somebody's life like that.
So why is it that people are so adamant about making sure that people say the word alcohol and drug in the same sentence? I don't get it, and I'm asking seriously.

Yet again.... a sexually abused child and a so called “mom” that didn’t believe the child !
Common denominator.... child abuse =drug abuse!
    This HAS to stop

Mr. Mark and my SWUB friends,
I just wanted to comment on what a wonderful community we have here. As an addict, learning from my brothers and sisters that have lived a life that I WILL live if I don't continue to work my recovery, has been priceless. I am so grateful to all that have the love within them to share their experiences. To Mark, thank you. Please keep up the GOOD work.
    Love,
    M.

I’m currently in my second year of medical school, coming around the time when I should have an idea of what specialty I want to go into. I have thought about psychiatry for a long time, but these videos have sealed the deal. After seeing you interview these people, who are such genuine, kind souls who unfortunately have experienced major trauma in their lives, I am certain that addiction medicine is the right career choice. The power these people show, the rawness, the resiliency, all of it, it’s so overwhelming. My heart breaks for these people. Thank you for what you do.

I really like this guy. He really need to be a motivational speaker because of his story and if listening to this guy and his story doesn’t give you life and makes you reflect on your own life whether you’ve done drugs or not. Then you must be perfect. Hearing his natural dialect and the way he speak made me reflect on my imperfect life and make me want to help someone and not judge people. Period.

I was 12 (I'm 34 now) when my mothers boyfriend molested me. I was asleep when it occurred, I told my mother immediately and she confronted him. He immediately said "No, that never happened. I screamed at him, " you touched my private parts". My mom turned to me and said "why would he touch you when he can touch a women's body, my body?" That was the day I decided I will never tell my mother " I love you" 💔. I was introduced to drugs as a kid but I decided to say no because my life was already upside down and drugs wouldn't help but cause more chaos. So I can believe him when he states his mother didn't believe him. I went through the same thing.
