One of the greatest shows ever on television. Even though it was almost 30 years ago, just the fact that, at one point in time, Conway Twitty was on national television sharing a stage with The Residents, gives me a glimmer of hope for humanity.
This was from the "Still In Your Dreams" album from 1988. It included the hits "I Wish I Was Still In Your Dreams", "Goodbye Time", and "Saturday Night Special" but had many other great songs on it as well, including this one.
Hiram Bullock, great player, among other things he is the original guitarist for the Letterman show. Check out James Brown's infamous original appearance on the show, Hiram is killin it.
The only thing interesting about this is the fact that The freaking Residents are just casually in the background jiggling to some lack-luster country. At least there's some eye candy to keep the interest haha
PlebeianGoth Night Music, AKA Sunday Night, an NBC, but later syndicated, music show hosted by David Sanborn or Jools Holland in the late Eighties. Musicians from different genres would perform individually then all play a song together at the end - a great show.
The Residents AND Conway?! Now THAT is a variety show.
Love that song by Conway. BEST MALE COUNTRY SINGER EVER!. You just can't beat that Conway Twitty. Conway fan forever.
Conway rented a room in my Grandmother's house before he made it. Was a true gentleman. RIP
The most monumental, ground breaking performance of television history.
