The amount of time and energy put into this premise that like, 5% of people would think is funny (me being in that group) is possibly the funniest thing about this to me. It's so well done for such a small joke. Love it.
We just watched many of the Fallon/Bacon songs of this style and this one is by far the best. This one is funny, and the lyric is better than the others, but this one is a slamming musical performance and really exciting show. This one is fab, most of the others fall flat.
@@claudiasmith1600 Mike uses the same moves from sixty-odd years ago. He taps his temple knowingly at the same spot in “I Get Around” where “the kids are hip.”
No, the bridge on that one strat is a four-screw model with brass inserts that didn't come out until 1968, long after this song was released. Prior the bridges had been three screw with steel (or sometimes copper) inserts. Looks like the pickups might be later edition counter-clockwise wound instead of era-accurate alternating-wound types, too. Don't get me started on the inaccurate truss rod.
After the commercial break, Jimmy explained the premise was Brian Wilson got writer's block after the first line (which is from the real song). He couldn't get "hamburger stand" out of his head. Comedy gold!
That explanation doesn't make this parody funny, though. In fact, it makes it more sad that Jimmy couldn't think of a better way to parody the original song.
Kudos to the Drummer for playing snare with his right hand. Dennis Wilson was a self taught drummer, and played that way (most right handed drummers play the snare with their left hand). Also, bonus trivia here, Dennis Wilson was the only Beach Boy who could surf.
Bacon burgers were likely unheard of in early 60's. I'd be glad to hear from anyone who knows. Did A&W or Bob's Big Boy ever have bacon for burgers back in the day?
Well if you listened closely you could make out a verse about a hamburger stand. I had to listen to it multiple times to catch it. They mentioned it right after when they started the entire song. Again very difficult to catch. Hope this helped!
I enjoyed how they made fun, fun, fun of the original song and how Jimmy and Kevin sang the lyrics. And yes, the two women in the back were beautiful dancers too
I've had a really bad day then came across one of these skits that led me to binge watching half a dozen. Incredible talent all around. Thank you for the distraction and laughs. 💖
The lyrics were a sensational treat!! How could anybody not want more in an album ??? Send my love ti Jimmie and the entire cast of Beach Boys First Draft!!! MORE!!! Can you hear us roar for more Beach Boy Parody?!
These are fabulous lyrics: Burger, Burger, Hamburger, Hamburger, Burger, Hamburger Stand Now, Burger, Burger, Hamburger, Burger at the Hamburger Stand Now, Ham + Burger = Burger at the Hamburger Stand Now and we'll have Buns, Buns, Buns on our Burgers at the Hamburger Stand haha!! :P
"Well, on my planet, we have a legend about... a great hero, named *Kevin Bacon*, teaches an entire city full of people...that, dancing, well, is the greatest thing there is." - Star-Lord
Man, that brings back very long times when I was young. Remember this piece well till they changed it up to what it is today. Times was simple and fun in those days.
Saw the Beach Boys in Cleveland tonight, and they played part of this before playing "Fun Fun Fun." Mike Love said to tell Jimmy Fallon that their version is still better.
***** So true -- Love thought it was great -- they played almost the entire clip, and it was the day after it aired on the Tonight Show. They liked it enough to add it to their video screen for their concert the next day.
paul yoda Yeah you suck. See how that works? You say something that wasn't really what the guy was saying...and then I say something that you weren't really saying! This is fun! ;o) But yeah you suck.
Betty Spinks Yeah, I wasn't saying that Fallon sucks, just that his comedy is more family friendly. And I've been thinking about it ever since he got the Tonight Show. I don't know that its terrible that his humor isn't edgier because you have to figure out should the Tonight Show be risqué or something everyone can watch.
Kevin Bacon did a great Brian Wilson. Right down to the look of fear in his eyes
He even looks like Brian Wilson
Was just gonna the same thing

And the falsetto.
Great observation! All these First Drafts are incredibly accurate in every detail - and really funny!!

You took the thought right out of my head!

Loved the whole thing. The dancers dressed and danced 100% authentically.
Then at the end, when the camera shows the audience, there's a woman at the front going with them!🤘

Actually, i think she may have been the choreographer for this skit. They usually have em off camera when they do these

attention to detail +1 for the drummer
It has everything to do with him being left handed while playing on a right handed kit.

kevin nailed brian's 60s falsetto.... dude is a multi talented master of his crafts
Jimmy Fallon does a great Mike Love. You can tell he's having a blast doing this bit
Amazing I just found a clip on Facebook and now I can't get enough of First Drafts Of Rock. Kevin Bacon you Rock❤❤❤
Kevin Bacon doesn't age. He looks incredibly well for pushing 60.
ArielHelwany it helps to film in black and white :)
ArielHelwany well, Botox is for men too !

I like that the drummer is playing left-handed on a right-handed drum kit the way Dennis did
Those two girls dancing in the back! Beautiful! 🎸
