It worked for me in the Third Person. If I added the commands to the level blueprints instead of inside the object, It worked no problem.

Thanks its great, maybe you could try a sphere collision component instead og the box collision.

For people who cannot pass the football, make sure that you have set "Auto Receive Input" to Player 0 after you drop your football blueprint to the world; otherwise, the left click and right click event for the player cannot be detected.

i did try to copy all your blueprints to my project based on 3rd person UE5 template, having bp character and bp football- but pressing any key doesn't launch the ball, it's not even printing the strings- can this be because of premade player controlls? im helpless, been fighting with it whole day today... please let me know if you can help and if there's anyways to reach out outside yt IF you have time and willing to help🙏🏻

If i am creating an animations and I want to have the ball being (dribbled/shot/saved) via the character animation in sequencer does this process work or what would I need to do, to make that happen??? any help would be much appreciated!
ThankYou! Sadly I haven't worked as much with animations yet. But all i think of is a merge between.
- Animations blueprints
- Sequencer
- Line trace to detect where the balls hits
But I think as with most football games you would want to assign the ball to a player I.e. when he is in possession it doesn't move too far away from him. Alternatively, since the Football has it's own physics any animation play on the character can move the ball.
best of luck though. Perhaps try to see how fighting animations etc are done and how it handles hit/ miss etc

Working in UE5 and I followed everything in the video. I found out that when I play the game, it shoots the ball when I left click no matter where I’m standing. Is there any fix for this?

Hey Resurrection, would you happen to know how to parent a 3d person character to a fast moving platform, so they don't fall off or the physics gets all wonky?
I'm finding that the platform I'm using as a shortcut from one end of the level to the next is moving too fast and just throws the player off or they clip through the platform. From my research it seems like the best option is to make the player a child to the platform with a begin/end collision box. That way the player will move, rotate, etc with the platforms movements AND speed, while still having their own controls. I just can't figure out the right blueprint nodes to accomplish this.
I would make the platform slower but it would take forever to get from one side of the level to the other. If you want an example of something like this being used in another game, check out Ratchet and Clank 1-3. There are taxis that drive you above the level after you complete it and it'll bring you back to the beginning.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Try attaching the player to the platform
Hmm yeah seems like a challenge. What if you disable character physics while he is on the platform. I'll see if i can think of something else.

Have you gotten the networking to work? I have been trying to create a similar mechanic but i'm having trouble with the networking. I was told that the add input movement function should have the functionality but I have not been able to figure it out.

Hello! Using this tutorial for UE5 and it works pretty awesome. I just have a question. Whenever I have Auto Receive Input enabled to Player0 the ball continuously "passes" whenever I click left mouse button, even when I am nowhere near the ball. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks!

I removed the Auto receive input once i made the collision box @@kdjd6768 - hope this helps future developers

Hello, what is the best option to ball control when the player is moving
Juan Fernando Gonzalez Orrego well didn’t quite get that far with the project. But from the top of my head I can think of box or or a sphere (or a radius/ distance around the player) that the ball cannot stay from until it is taken ownership of by another player or character.
So in terms of blueprint something like.
Boolean check - Player is in ownership = true
Ball cannot stray far from the player
When it is false ownership is lost and ball can stray further ir when the player shoots, is tackled or takes it outside the lines.
You would have to find the relevant nodes to run the logic.

@@nFaiz8 A basic way is to disable the input whenever the player is not near the football Or to run a check using a Boolean in the blueprints with a Branch node for true and false.
Then you will need to set it so its enabled when the player is near the ball and disabled when player is not near or in possession of the ball.
Having said that I will do an updated video in the near future for this. And go into much more detail.

MAD THE BOX AND IT STILL DOESNT WORK PLEASE HELPPPP
Hey haven't been on computer for 2 days. Trying to reduce stress and anxiety could u list the problem here. What exactly is the issue. It may not work in first person initially as the mesh won't be full. You can try add a collision box to the first person character so it will extend down to the legs area and detect the overlap with the football sphere/box.
I tried in third person still doesnt work...

No there should be no need for a collision box around you third person character as he already has collision. Try to see if you did use a box around the football then make sure on any collision or overlap events you have the right reference to them.
Secondly, using a sphere collision would be better as it matches with the shape of the football. If you make a box/sphere in the blueprint you should be able to select it from the list on the left. It maybe that the size of the box is so small that it is inside the football. So you might need to increase it's size on the right side in the details tab. Or just try making football size smaller. A lot trial and error is needed to get things to work. Goodluck!
