RAF Red Arrows
2008 Rhode Island ANG Open House & Airshow
Quonset State Airport
North Kingstown, RI
Saturday June 28, 2008
The Red Arrows are seen here as they fly their high show over the skies of Quonset State Airport. This was the second to last performance in their North American tour and as you can tell by the reactions of the crowd, everyone absolutely loved their performance (especially the annoying Boston idiots you hear shouting profanities in the video, and for that, I apologize).
Please check out the 2019 tour videos covered by ZINGER AVIATION MEDIA as well as supporting through the Store! - Авто та транспорт
Proud to know Red Arrows proud to be American. You guys are very dear friends to Us. There is no problem having civic pride. This is totally awesome. Just remember all display teams Red Arrows angles, thunder birds they are doing things you and i could only dream of.
Jacob Schwertfeger Your a top man Sir.
One of the nicest UA-cam comments I've read! It's always a privilege to see the Reds perform
Jacob Schwertfeger
They're all awesome! I've been a lifelong fan of the Red Arrows since I first saw them aged about 3 or 4 years. Last month I had my first ever opportunity to see some display teams from other countries at the Royal International Air Tattoo 2015. I saw the Spanish, Swiss and French display teams. And do you know what? They were all f***ing good! The Patrouille de France were particularly good - some of their passes were even better than the Red Arrows stuff. Simple fact is that all of these pilots, regardless of where they come from, are exceptionally good pilots.
tyvm i totally forgot o wrote this its nice to hear from someone again thank you
They all work incredibly hard to reach this standard of flying too Jacob.
All Areobatic Teams and their groundcrews. 🍻
The funny thing is the guy who says 'dumb Brits' is whooping, hollering and shouting 'awesome!' and 'holy shit! by the end of the performance.
Yeah I think he liked the gibbo break just a little bit hahaha
Gotta say i love the American crowd in this video. Very into the performance, most of us take it for granted. To the Red Arrows!
I had so much fun watching this display in person. I hope the 2008 Red Arrows team felt fight at home flying for us here in the USA and that they know how appreciated it was.
thanks again gents.
And that Ladies and Gentlemen boys and girls this is why they are the greatest aerobatic display team in the world. gotta love those guys in the little red planes
just be thankful to an American who done the best film of the red arrows I've ever seen, one of the red arrows team said the red arrows are the best 9 aircraft display team the blue angles are the best 4 man team the Italian's are the best 10 man team etc etc, they have respect for each other, idiots who try to say one is better than don't share the same respect these pilots have for each other no matter what their nationality
Absolutely agree - I have watched many aerobatic/demonstration teams and they are all first class pilots no matter what team they are in. They all learn from each other and sometimes 'borrow' another teams moves, but that's all part of the game. It really does spoil my enjoyment of watching these vids when I scroll down to the comments to read a bunch of morons shouting that that their national team's pilots are the best and that everyone else is rubbish. None of these morons really enjoy aerobatics or get into the friendly spirit of it all - it is all just another excuse for them to mouth off their empty triumphalism. the teams themselves have a spirit of friendly rivalry but do not sink to the depths of nastiness of some of the comments posts against these vids.
Fran I am American and though I love my country I love watching The Red Arrows. I loved watching then back when I was stations at R.A.F Upper Heyford in the 80 s and still love watching them now. I like to give credit where credit is due. With that I think the Red Arrows are the best, the best team I have seen anyway. Sure wish they would come to the Savannah Georgia area, would love to see them again.
I am a brit and used to be in the kd21 air scouts we camped in a field must of been 1985 we also visited the base are tents werenear the runway and especially remember F111s doing night takeoffs and the impressive afterburner flames and thunderous noise rattling are chests
Superb display yet again by the best team in the world, watch oht for the amazing Gypo break around the 23 minute mark.
seen them live bro!!
they blow out the snowbirds, blue angels, and the thunderbirds out of the sky!!
Makes me feel so patriotic..to see our Air force in such magnificent display... such skills and dedication and protectors of our beautiful country.. I salute you all.. Heroes..
I live in Rhode Island and so pissed that I missed this show.....What a great day this have must have been.....
blue angels, red arrows etc.. are all just as good as each other.. it takes skill to even be doing what these guys are doing.. they only take the best of the best pilots in each country
maybe they are ... it,s been many years since i have seen them. but the point remains that they are all skilled piolets in their feild :-)
Don’t want to state the obvious on aerobatics
But from what I’ve seen, blue angels are all about wide formations but amazing stunts to go with it
But the red arrows are about close formations and daring tricks, to push the aircraft to its limits, risking their lives
But all pilots are professional no matter what or where they’re from
As a Brit, I’m proud we’re all the same in aerobatics, perfect in our own ways
one more thing, imagine saying this... "so what do you do for a living?" " well i am a red arrows pilot!" wow that would be good lol. everyone loves the arrows they must be soo proud lol. great close ups at the end of them landing
Thoroughly enjoyed this; the excitement of the crowd, the hyping them up by the announcer, really great video. I've seen the Red Arrows many times here in the UK. It's good to see they can also be appreciated in other parts of the world.
Thanks Andrew for your reply. I'm an ex Brit Paratrooper, I only met two types of American: servicemen, (usually the Rangers) who were great, and US tourists who are a bit comical. I love the Americans and what they stand for (if only theUS gov would do the same) I love the red arrows, but the blue angels and the thunderbirds are just as good, its just a bit different. Aircraft are different the show is different, but the pilots are all exceptional.
The Yanks love it! Great reactions from the crowd for an epic disply from the Red Arrows. Proud to be British. Best Display team in the world!
Prob the best filmed red arrows on a windy beach ive seen...voices in background priceless..oh shit..omg...jippo cross as heartstopping for me as the first time film makers...and ive seen it loads...
gonna watch them tomorrow at sunderland international airshow iv seen them there every year for as long as i can remember, they never fail to entertain my heart pounds everytime i see em fly....
The red arrows are actually based in my home county (Lincolnshire) so we basically get a free air show when it's clear sky's
Except when they're in Akrotiri
Jack Francis yeh pretty much xD
R.I.P Jon Egging RED 4#, Simply amazing at what these pilots do.......PROUD TO BE BRITISH!
Jon egging joined the team as red#4 in 2010. This display was 2008 so he wasn’t in the team when this video was taken, he joined 2 years later. But either way Jon egging is a hero.
If this was filmed in the UK..you would hear a pin drop apart from gasps and applause.
I love that reaction at 23:35 xD
Im glad the RAF Red Arrows come to the U.S.
I won't join in the nonsense of saying our airmen are better than other formation teams but I will say the Red Arrows and the rest of our military are one of the few things remaining for us Brits to feel proud of.
One of the best records I’ve seen. Living near to an airfield in the uk where an air show is every 2 years, the red arrows display is fairly well known now and I know that they’re very hard to film because you have something going on in so many places. The one thing that many people is is the gypo split, where 7 go to a vertical and 2 stay straight and cross paths, everyone films the palm tree but the best bit is down low. Also, shame it wasn’t slightly cloudy as when they do the vertical split, they go above the cloud level so they go out of sight and split as they break through the cloud which looks pretty awesome.
Good work, great vid
Thank you for the kind words! Rhode Island was the last stop of their short tour that year and after seeing the team at all of the previous tour stops I had a better idea of what to expect out of their routine. Not too bad, if you ask me.
Check out the 2019 videos of the team in Atlantic City and New York.
I'm not gonna lie but us brits love listening to the americans reactions. We just quietly appreciate the display because we see it year after year. When we listen to peoples reactions who havent seen the show before it really makes us proud to be British!! So thank you America for accepting our plucky little display team!! Thats why we watch American airshows! And because your airshows in general are just awesome!! :-)
I'm so proud of the boys, love the Red Arrows!
I don't think we feel any less delight and pride for all the quietness of the reaction . :-)
Guess I'm biased being a Brit, but these guys make us proud.
They should, and just because I'm an American, I absolutely love these pilots no matter from which nationality they come. I'd like to think of them this way: If my mother had to be flown somewhere safer or to receive medical treatment, and one of them was the only one available, I'd know she'd be safe in their capable hands." As an Orthodox Christian, I pray for those in the Military and armed Forces, because it is not our will that anybody should be killed, because human beings are created in the Image and Likeness of God. We must all give an account before the Judgement Seat of Christ, and it's our responsibility to remember that if Christ came to save the world, we must follow His example to do all we can to avoid killing anyone at will. The Church of England has been studying what the Eastern Fathers wrote, and we pray for unity, because it was the Eastern Orthodox who influenced those who converted to Christ before the official Church of England was established. God forbid they lose their Royal Identity.
And that is how it's done!
it's great to hear the enthusiasm of the crowd. It adds to the excitement of the video
Thanks for posting!
Proud to be British...
Bloody good job chaps.
Greatest moment was the loop and barrel roll involving 22 jets during the 1958 Farnborough Airshow. This was a world record for the greatest number of aircraft looped in formation, and remains unbroken to this day.
I'm local to these guys so I see whenever they take to the sky. Its so cool when other places thousands of miles away get to watch and get a kick out of it.
Good upload!
Ethan Cox :)
I live in the home city of the Red Arrows and myself and my daughter are their biggest fans!! I can see them every day as they practice, but I must congratulate you on this footage. It really conveys the feeling that you get at a live performance. P.S. They are all great guys too and are avidly passionate about what they do!! Once again Thank You
Bomber County and proud
Awesome camera work, The reds are thee most British thing we have, forget everything else. That made me proud to be British and for that i thank you :)
Good to see the ole Reds showin ya dont need loud noise and endless high speed passes to give a crowd a thrill :o) well done boys
In all the airshows in the UK I've been to, the most extrovert reaction is a slightly audible *gasp* sound..
I've seen the Red Arrows whilst on holidaying in Cornwall. Can't see what all the fuss is about, after all we're British.
Best on the planet.
GOD Bless all this people up there & keep them always safe !!!!! peace !!!!
Gotta love you Yanks. Love from England. xx
I really like how the red arrows change there team members most years! This stops complacency and keeps fresh pilots on there toes! I love the blue angels but one thing that shocked me with the blue angels whilst watching this documentry about them was how many dangrous mistakes they made. I just hope they dont make any fatal ones.
thank you for the upload, great to see these
VV_ Antares uhhhhgggffdffffdyyuuppooo0l
I've seen the blue angels and there right up there with the arrows fantastic god bless jiim UK.
no one dose it better than these lads simple as that
the best aerobatics team on earth
Pure analogue flying. No fly-by-wire for us!
Can't wait to see these guys back at the Bournemouth Air Festival this year!!!!!!!
I see this display team every year in the Summer at Airbourne never get bored. Get Video showing off what the Red Arrows do best :D
I got buzzed by about 15 tornadoes followed by the red arrows just outside Oxford a few weeks ago, what a sight
Very nice show! Red arrows are the best formation flyers i've seen.
Awesome...Simply awesome!
a great video. nice camera work. i dont think ive ever seen such a long display in all the years ive seen them.
They are incredible to see. See them every airshow. So unfortunate for the two pilots that lost their lives. Incredible pilots and now the red arrows only fly with 7. Nice sign of respect but it's such a shame. If you have never seen them in person. U need to look where they a flying near you and go.
No he is right, instead of no reaction ( which we always get) They always give it their all!!
i no everybody argues about this comment but it really does make me so proud to be british!! i am going to see them in august, great videos by the way :)
23:36 Goose-pimples.
Im proud to be British.
English*
a stupid genius No, i meant British.
Lord Pumpernickle All the pilots are English except for the two NZers
a stupid genius England is in Britain, if you live in England you are still British, if you live in Wales or Scotland you are still British but not English, if you are English then you are not welsh or Scottish but still British
what the fuck do you think Britain is ? Britain is my whole country and im English
peter piper Acknowledged but would you really say the same thing if all the pilots were Scottish? I doubt it. But because all of them apart from 2 are English they're automatically British.
The Red Arrows always fly over my house! Best acrobatics team in the world.
+hffp1 The Russians tend to end up landing in the crowd though...for close-ups!!
The Red Arrows ROCK! Long may they keep painting the skies.
hope you Americans enjoyed this video and the Red Arrows! Them and the BBMF are about the only things that make us Brits proud of OUR Air Force, considering the state it's in at the moment!
@08.44 Some Yank says 'Dumb Brits' which is pretty rich coming form a dumb Yank ... Lets see HIM do 10% of what these guys do...
It wasn’t necessary of him to say that, however, if your saying let’s see HIM do it, you could say the same thing to yourself. You either compare u and him, or u compare our aerobatics teams with the UK’s. You don’t cross over.
This comment isn’t made with the intent of defending him. Merely pointing out a flaw in your statement
Good thing its an air show as the joke went completely over his head.
Utter perfection
Firstly I'd like to say well done on the footage of this display its never easy to track aircraft and I'm glad you have experience doing it so thanks to airshow fan it's by far the best footage of the red arrows I've seen. Youcant compare teams, different aircraft, built for different things. Id love to hear from an objective American about this display though, no more of the usual "im so proud to be british" the red arrows are amazing just wonderd what the yanks think really:)
15:30 *Everyone* “What was that?!”
Me: In case you didn’t hear the speakers and Red 10, that manoeuvre was called *goose*
These guys freakin amazing!!!
No more makes it more technically difficult and allows different maneuvers, plus more makes it more exciting why the hell would someone lessen the amount of them...
flyerholland..cheers. No matter how many times i watch the gygo break...still makes the hairs on my neck rise
Superb vid, great watch.
red white and blue, the colours of a great nation, PROUD TO BE BRITISH
The Best Vid of the Red Arrows on the Net
Well Done That Man
I have almost as much fun listening to the crowd reaction as I do watching the stunts.
Awesome!
@Snipes4Joy Not a clue mate, as a Brit who lived stateside briefly I found the people I met postively charming
They change three pilots every year so every pilot does three years with them.they practise day in day out they have a test every year and if they fail that they dont get their red flying suits and wont do any disblays untill they do.i was a blue which is their ground support
Wow, the Red Arrows make some epic manoevers. :)
The best in the world without a doubt !
awesome
You couldn't have put that any better!!!
Red arrows loves america
thanks gr8 video chaps
Awesome.
Red Pelicans(1962 _1964were Central Flying School display team based in Kemble Airbase
Yellowjacks(1964-1965) from display team Fourth Air School and the Hawks are No 4 Flying Training School at RAF Valley(now)
seen reds loads of times they class ,,
good filiming. Thanks.
the boston people in the video have no idea how precise the pilots are, and to them I say, Try flying a plane with 8 other guys with you
Gotta love watching my babies fly.
awesome show! 5S
true And The Best in The World.
thumbs Up If you think airplanes FUCKING ROCK!
The BEST aero team in the world, sadly we lost 2 this year :(
Think the guy enjoyed the gypo break !! And who wouldnt ?! Great videao
@Trancemad1984
Yes, and yet he was probably the one screaming like an excited big girl, once he saw how kick ass they were!
Because we love our red arrows
I went to go see the red arrows before and it was so cool and fun they did cool tricks
@Snipes4Joy
I agree. On a side note- do most americans say "could care less?" We would say "couldn't care less" which I think makes more sense. I don't mean to be pedantic or picky- I'm just interested in our language differences.
Legends.
Video i mean ! Got over excited !
yea i agree ! very nice video
@jakeymanufan ?? what do you mean
dont try this at home
is it hawks used in Hotshots???
Hotshots they used Folland Gnats. Gnats were used by the Red Arrows before the Hawks replaced them.
the funny thing is the gnat was a faster plane.not that it makes any difference.i remember watching them practice in the gnats when i was a nipper.
