Hi Clynecia, I used Creto DPS cretoseal.com/shop/deep-penetrating-sealer-dps-one-gallon/ Color Mist stain in "grey" cretoseal.com/shop/color-mist-one-gallon/ Poly Step Guard cretoseal.com/shop/poly-step-guard-one-gallon/
Is the Crete DPS necessary if your concrete is already dry? We poured our countertops back in September, finally sanded them down a month or so ago and just moved them inside a week and a half ago. I was just going to seal them, but would really like to add a stain before I seal/polish.
Hi! I am planning to stain my basement floor. do I need to grind all throughout the floor or just the uneven areas if any? it is fairly smooth. does it need etching or grinding before applying stain?
I would recommend the Sweet & Easy Sealer instead of the Poly StepGuard. We sell a non-slip media that can be added into the second coat. Sweet & Easy is a polyaspartic which holds up really well and is the industry standard for garage floor coatings. Plus it's super easy to apply!
So you don’t have to etch concrete before staining it? A lot of people have been telling me that I needed to. And is the stainer u used water based? I’m trying to stain a basement floor and would rather not use a acid stainer around the furnace and water tank.
If you grind the concrete an acidic cleaner is not required. A cleaner that has high alkalinity like our Ultra Clean degreaser will work also. The stain is water based, no odor, and easy to use. A lot of things can go wrong using acid stains... especially for a beginner.
Hi thanks for the great videos. I’ve never done anything like this so I have a few questions. So from my understanding I will have to prep and clean the surface, then apply a concrete sealer to get rid of any moisture and to help top coat adhesion, then wash off excess after 20 minutes. My floors have quite a lot of paint stains, will a good sand of these areas be enough? What sort of concrete sealer is used for this? As I am based in Aus and will have to substitute for different products. I will then use a water based stain for colour, and then add the top coat. I really like the look of your floors compared to others on yt. You use a water based polyurethane for the top? What other type of sealers do you use for similar looks?
Hi, use a floor stripper or sander / grinder works best to remove paint. You probably don't need a penetrating sealer unless the concrete already has moisture problems. I use the DPS to prevent problems in the future. A good quality water based stain should be okay. Just look at the photos of the finished projects and they speak for themselves. Polyurethane topcoats are what I use the most but there's a lot of good products out there. Polyureas / polyaspartics are great as well but have much more odor and need respirators / safety equipment to apply. Hit me up through my contact page on my website for more tips. Good luck with your project!
Can a polyurethane topcoat be applied the same way? If the top coat is water based would it get messed up if water got on it after it dried? @creto seal
Currently redoing my basement floors. It was 60’s linoleum. The grinder is removing the previous glue and lines with a second pass. Lots of guck to clean up though.
@@Cretosealsealants I'm interested in your products so I'll be giving you a call when you open today. I need to stain a porch/patio and three steps. Should under under 100 sf
What I charged or what it would cost as a DIY project... ha! For this premium stain kit it's about $1.00 per square foot. Each kit does around 350 sq. ft. of concrete.
How long does one need to wait before applying the acid stain after the sealer is applied? I have all the materials so I'll be looking to do this myself in the coming days
@@Cretosealsealants so after the area is washed/prepped, I would wait a whole day. Then apply sealer, then wait another 24 to 48 hours . Then apply acid stain. Then wait 20 minutes. Then apply the skid protection layer. Do I have all those steps/ timing correct?
@@amphindian You can apply the DPS immediately after cleaning the concrete. The stain I used was a water based stain. Don't use DPS with acid stains. As soon as the Color Mist stain is dry to touch, the surface sealer can be applied..
@@Cretosealsealants why don’t you use acid base stains? The floor looks great I’m planning on doing mine this way inside, what kind of crack repair would you use for carpet and holes and such?

Hi, I want to water stain the concrete floors in my house. I've already removed the carpets from all 4 bedrooms, I stripped all the carpet glue and cleaned the floors thoroughly. However the carpet glue left a shadow (darker discoloration) on the concrete floors!!! how do I treat this issue, specially since these shadows are right in the center of the floor from one end to the other!!??
Usually they are in the concrete permanently. Grinding won't even get them up. I would recommend going dark and try your best to blend them in. It can be tough though.
@@jskrikorian2697 They will most likely be visible after staining. You could apply the white twice or three times over the stains and hopefully that would blend them in more.
The penetrating sealer isn't necessary for all applications. It's essential when there's moisture problems like efflorescence or sweating concrete or if it's outdoor concrete especially when there's freeze / thaw.
@@llamacebu216 I've never heard of that. Color Mist stain is a stand alone meaning NO MIXING required. Usually some people use muriatic acid to etch the concrete if they're not grinding. The cleaners I use aren't as corrosive but still open up the pores of the concrete when used at full strength.
Wow that floor is beautiful. @CRETO SEAL is all that prep necessary on a concrete broken brick floor in a foyer and family room? How would the color turn out when the floor looks like bricks? I want a grayish marble. Thank you in advance for your response.
If it's stamped concrete I wouldn't do a grind, just a good cleaning... then stain and seal. Stains always come out different looking with every application. Color Mist grey is a warm, dark grey if that's what you are looking for.
Do not buy this product. I spent almost 400$ on concrete sealer. I took all the necessary steps and the sealer turned to dust. Company would not send me a refund and then took back their offer to resend me more product. Bought another sealer from Home Depot and it worked excellent. Beware.
Beautiful color. Is it black mixed colors
Nice work. I am going to be getting this done to my basement floor.
Hell even the cracks looked awesome!! Very nice
what if I skip the DPS? I sanded it with 30, 60 then 80 already...I'm pretty sure there is nothing left on this concrete
final question. can I apply the stain with a roller?
You did an amazing job. Thanks for sharing.
Can you list everything you used. I love the way the floor turned out. Great job.

Did you try this gray I seen he put He used gray I was just wondering how he got the marbling effect with one color
Okay so all I need is 2 gallons of gray and 2 gallons of sealer.
Where do you buy the gray mist you sprayed with the pump spray? Or what is it called

Usually not.

The old mastic will permanently stain the concrete unfortunately.
Could you stain brand new concrete without doing all the honing and cleaning if nothing else has touched that such as paint debris etc .
Not recommended
Yes, but it will have a slightly different look. Honed concrete takes the stain differently than raw concrete.
I am builing a home in Jamaica and wanted to do concret floors with a dye/stain do you this is a product that would work well for my indoor floors?
Yes it would. You could find videos on here showing you how. Big up yuh self.
