Messi will win the MVP. Still the greatest footballer ever. But the argument that Tata Martino should win coach of the year should be contested. This team is playing with a loaded squad with the help of circumvented rules. This same squad failed in the Champion’s Cup and Leagues Cup. If Inter is so great as a team to have the MVP, Coach of the year, and Defender of the year then we have to admit they bottled the two other competitions. Their squad was built like a Liga MX squad. Compare them to the other trophy winners in North America. They are above them in skill and accolades.
@@mannyvilla63 1000% agree with you. The only reason they were able to focus on league play is because they bottled the other competitions. All of that has to be taken into consideration
@@mannyvilla63 I thought the voting guidelines say champions cup and leagues cup should not affect the vote. If we follow that criteria, Tata should win best coach. Sure, Miami have big names, but they are well past their best and in their late thirties. To win a physically demanding league with a mix of young players, old stars and loads of injuries is a really good achievement
I personally have never watched the MLS (no particular reason) but I found this video fascinating and well made, is there any teams as a neutral that are a consistent exciting watch?
Crew fan here, I'm in the boat that a part of soccer is taking care of yourself health and all. Messi played 52% (as of now) of his MLS games. Thats barely half a season. I think if you are MVP you should play at minimum 65% of a season. It feels like MLS would be treating MVP as a partipation trophy. We don't live in the world of shoulda. So we can't give Messi the award for theoretical statistics. Is Messi the best player of all time? YES. but you can't say he lead the Inter Miami on the field if he barely played for the team.
Think you’re wrong on coach of the year. Tata is working with a monster of a team. If you take his stars out of that team they are nowhere near the top. Personally I would give it to Greg Vanney. Took a 13th place LA galaxy to 1st in the west.
Only one I disagree would be Kahlina for best GK, but that's because as an NYCFC fan I've witnessed how many times Freese has bailed us out of games and how many points we have maintained because of his performances
Guzan has been amazing for Atlanta recently and it's been a great year for him overall compared to last year so he's gk of the year for me(I'm a bit biased though)
Messi winning mvp theres no debate. Mfs in the media prioritizing games played over production and efficiency is insane to me. Especially when the criteria is already 1000 mins played…
So I am a huge Messi fan, but regarding the MLS MVP I'm still of the opinion that it shouldn't be so clearly going to Messi. I'm not saying that I would contest it if he did get the MVP, but I think there are definitely cases to be made for not giving it to him. The easiest way to kind of conceptualize this is to put this to an extreme. If Messi played 19 out of 34 games and scored 20 goals and 15 assists or whatever, would he win the MVP? I don't know. What if he played 8 games and scored 20 goals and 15 assists? Probably not. What if he played 4 games and scored 20 goals and had 15 assists? What if scored 5 goals a game for an entire month and then got injured for the rest of the season? That's a definite no. So yes, playing more games without having a single g/a would make his stats worse but end up getting him closer to the MVP because why? Because there's proof that he did impact the team in all of those extra games even if he didn't had a g/a. If he were to play 34 games and had 20 goals, the team won with him influencing every single game and he just happened to have one of the best stats in the league with his goals and assists. But if he were to play 4 games and had 20 goals, okay great, that month or whatever was phenomenal from Messi, but the team still won the Supporter's Shield without him EVEN IMPACTING almost 90% of the games. If you had to pick a Miami player as they set the record and all that, I would probably pick Suarez over him because of the fact that he played more games and that he picked them out from the dumps when Messi wasn't there as well and still performed when Messi was playing, but again, because of the branding for MLS and the fact that you really can't go wrong with Messi getting MVP because he's very clearly way better than anyone else there anyway, I wouldn't mind if it did go to Messi.
I don't even know why this is even a debate. MLS rules regarding MVP are cristal clear. To be in the contention for MVP title, a player has to play at least 1000 minutes in the regular season. How many minutes did Messi play? I let you calculate it. Did Messi miss 8 games in the regular season due to injury? No. How on earth should the league games keep on playing while the US were hosting COPA AMERICA. Is it Messi's fault if he missed those games playing during the COPA? No. That's MLS business. Suarez too took part in the Copa. For me there's no valid argument you can use to rule Messi out of the race of the MVP but subjective and personal biased opinions and takes. He fully deserves it. Do you think Colombus crew can't win games without Cucho? Yes they can. All the best teams are able to cope with the absence of their best player. That's how true best teams work. Frankly speaking, if any other player in MLS had the same record of stats as Messi has in regular season in the same number of games, it wouldn't even be a debate because he would be chosen by everyone to be the MVP. But as Messi is who he is. Everything regarding him is subject to debate, to passion and so on.
Columbus crew fan here, Messi is gonna win MVP not because he was better then Cucho, not cuz he did better then Cucho, only reason is gonna be favoritism Just cuz he’s Messi he’ll win, but Cucho Hernandez 1000% percent deserves MVP

didn't tata already win a MLS cup with Atlanta

Messi, hands down.
Funny how Messi will probably be the reason why we have a trophy for MVP and Best Player in the league because those are two different titles
U r right...goat Messi will win
w take on Kahlina 🔥🔥🔥
Best keeper in the league
dont worry bro my messi won it today😘😘😘
Messi won the player of matchday 2024 six times😂
We've lost the plot, we're giving Defender of the Year to players with the better attacking statistics. 🤦♂
