Eric, thanks for putting up all these video's, they're a delight to watch. It makes me wonder where all these films have been sitting all these decades, but I'm glad you have access to the archive and sharing them with us.
don't know where you're getting them from, but these are players that i remember at the end of their careers, when i was much, much younger. beetson, fulton, had never seen sims/wittenberg play. the camera work on this one was really good and the footage well preserved. different rules, different game, but weren't the french good? it's only their union team that's world class nowadays (oh, and soccer).
WC FINAL: 10 June 1968, SCG (Sydney) Australia 20 (L.Williamson 2, R.Coote, J.Greaves tries; E.Simms 4 goals) defeated France 2 (J.Capdouze field goal). Referee: J.Percival (NZ). Crowd: 54,290. AUSTRALIA: Eric Simms, Johnny Rhodes, Graeme Langlands, Johnny Greaves, Lionel Williamson, Bob Fulton, Billy Smith; John Wittenberg, Fred Jones, Arthur Beetson, Dick Thornett, Ron Coote, John Raper (c). Reserve: Elton Rasmussen.
Haven't seen a proper scrum in a long time, great video Eric although a little before my time but brought back some memories thanks.
