This looks great. I always wanted to know how to make it, one of my favorite Jamaican meals I love to eat, and I am not Jamaican, it's just a nice comfort food. Thank you for sharing the recipe.

Yes Trinis call it oil down too. Guyanese make metemgee. Similar but all different and tasty in their own way. Thx for sharing this. Beautifully done.
Yes! My Friend from Grenada calls it Oil down also😂😂 Our cultures are so similar ♥️

I've done tin mackerel in coconut milk you should try it 😂
IT'S RUN DONG!! Patois.
Looks amazing! I will definitely be trying this. Would you say the scorpion pepper has the same heat as the scotch bonnet? I’m not sure if I’ve seen a scorpion pepper before but will definitely look for it.
The scorpion pepper is the hottest pepper in the WORLD! It’s hotter than scotchbonnetpepper
@@TheRainasKitchen oh wow. Ok, thank you.
Can you use tin of coconut milk?
Yes
Mmm 🔥🍲😋
Can you use fresh mackerel?
You might have to soak it in salt water the night before to get the full effect.
@@TheRainasKitchen okay. There's no salt mackerel here but I can ALWAYS find fresh. Worst case it'll just taste different 😭😫. But at least I'll get to cook with it. I've been looking for an excuse lol
Yes! Soak your mackerel in salt water for a few days.
Made this today for dinna
Too much oil
It’s natural organic coconut oil
Too much oil in that plate
It’s the natural oil from the coconut and the mackerel.
I'm cooking this tonight 😋
