Wow!! How come I have never heard of this!!!? My bored old ears woke up suddenly as they got thrilled by this. Eureka! I found something good and new!!
new to you not new. Ikue Mori all these musicians been around a while, love Ikue Mori especially since they were in the band DNA but that is probably the oppositie of this and MArc Ribot was in Lounge Lizards Rober Quine I don't know too much about, but seems he was in the viodiods. this was also made in like 97 so not really new.
@@miguelvalentine9776 how are you familiar with dna but don't know richard hell and the voidoids??? also quine toured with lou reed in the 80's and actually taped some legendary bootlegs of the velvet underground when he was younger.
the only album comparable is Verlaine's earlier 'warm and cool', different sounds, esp. ikue's magical flourishes and more relaxed feel. I met Robert once, very dry wit.
Weird question, but - how would you describe Robert Quine's voice? When someone has an immediately identifiable sound on a instrument, I always wonder how their speaking voice sounds, and I can't find a recording of Quine talking. (He seems not to have been fond of interviews or interviewers.)
Wow! How did I not know this album existed?! I've known about Quine and Ribot since reading about them in Guitar Player and Guitar World back in the 80's, but this one flew under my radar somehow. This is some seriously cool surf rock here! And this might be the best use of a drum machine I've ever heard in my life!
@@ardlersaint9429 Wait, you mean she's tapping the buttons in real time, or is she using electronic percussion pads, or what? I've never seen video of her performing so I have idea exactly how she does what she does. The credit reads "Drum programming" so I always assumed that meant she programs the drum machine the way everyone else does, you know, you "play" things into tthe drum machine with the button, then you hit the play button and way you go.
@@Kohntarkosz pretty sure she is actually physically playing the triggers on the drum machines themselves. I’ve seen her do that live, though with different collaborators and material
Great musical performance ruined by the GREED OF YOU TUBE ! destroying my meditative peace by blasting adds throughout the music . Your really a fine example of corporate GREED "You tube"

I love this album. Thank you for uploading it, Musique D'Ascenseur.
thank you I was hoping this was on spotify, no luck. Thank you for having it here. I keep coming back to this album...
Many thanks, musique d'ascenseur! Robert is one of my fave guitar slingers, and this is purely great.
Tout simplement magnifique et pur
ALBUM DE UMA BELEZA SELVAGEM QUE EU HAVIA PERDIDO... MUITO OBRIGADO! THANKS A LOT!

“saucer crash” offa that verlaine rekkid is such a rad tune ...🔥🎶
Great comparison. Totally on point. I found it enjoyable. Saw Marc at UCSD solo Feb 16, 2022. Amazing .90 minutes of no bullshit bliss.
It does have that Verlaine solo album feel . But it's more spaghetti western in mid - fi . Great find thanks for sharing.

isn't that 'drum machine' ikue?
@@shnootchYeah. I had the understanding she hasn't played acoustic drums since sometime in the early 80's.
@@shnootch Yeah, Ikue is physically playing those machines. Genius.

Oh, I'm gonna fuck with this.
Fine album. So was Robert Quine's 'Basic' album with Fred Maher.
Both could do with being reissued!
Don't forget "Escape" with Jody Harris!
@@goggles051 That's right: three classic albums. Painted Desert, Escape, Basic. Can't beat Quine!
👌TU, AND a J Zorn production is it on his Tzadzik label?
Thank you algorithm
