  • Landing at Westonzoyland Part 1
    As my flexwing Sub70Kg journey continues, I wanted to progress in small steps. A local airfield seemed like the perfect stepping stone to flying further afield. Ex RAF Westonzoyland is a local airfield which i have flown to before but only in my paramotor. Joining the circuit was a little different to just and overhead spiral down to land.
    It was a wonderful day and the pilots I met were so hospitable. I will certainly be adding this one a stepping stone to other airfields in the future.
    I hope you enjoy this video. More to come.
    Kit and equipment that i use for my Vlogs:
    The Aircraft that I am flying is a Flylight PeaBee:
    www.peabee.co.u...
    My radio and communications set up is:
    ICARO Solar X Helmet with MicroAvionics PM100 (Vlog modified by MicroAviconics)

    My Airband radio ( I have the appropriate Licences) is :

    Camera and Microphones:
    Flight Briefing room
    Sony HX300 and a ICE microphone
    Flying cameras
    GoPro 3+, GP6 and 7.
    Insta360 X one
    Flying Clothing:
    FlyKandy Jacket and trousers
    OZEE flying suit and OZEE mittens with woolen mittens inside.

    Congratulations on your first planned XC! Stunning scenery to fly over Giles! I'm really enjoying all of your content! Very Posh with the FLARM upgrade, but like you said, the MK1 Eyeball is always the best!
    Beautiful little touch down too! Looking forward to part 2!

      It was good to be able to get away. I need to get a greater understanding of the FLARM system, however the MK1 eyeball is king.

    Great stuff. Visiting other airfields for a brew really does feel so very 'GA' and just shows what can be enjoyed in the world of sub 70. Keep 'em coming - you do make a nice polished vid, it has to be said. 👍

      It was a bit of a little dream for me to fly somewhere in my own aircraft. I've had a bit of help in the video making department. Have a look at Anthony Vella, Paranoob and Greg Anthony Harris, they make fantastic videos with very high quality content. I'm finding my style and just love sharing my passion for flying.

    Nice flight, Giles. I gather the Peabee has a high glide ratio, which is a blessing and a curse. If you have an engine out - more landing options. If you need to get down in a hurry - good luck!

    • @GolfFoxtrot22
      @GolfFoxtrot22  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, that is the issue when trying to get down. The skin on the FOX 13 TL2 is very tight. Its just something I need to take into consideration when circuit planning. All part of the learning experience. The return leg was somewhat more interesting, look out for part 2 next week.

    Great flight! Yes, you were high on final. Were you catching a thermal maybe, right before you touched down?

    • @GolfFoxtrot22
      @GolfFoxtrot22  4 роки тому

      I was at the 800 ft point, no thermal as I could see on the Oudie. I just should have planned the circuit better, I was focused on ensuring, a) I dodn't screw up and b) I didn't bust any of the noise sensitive areas. Part 2 certainly has some interesting landings ;).

  • @AnthonyVella
    @AnthonyVella 4 роки тому +1

    That landing looked awesome! If you were to fly early in the morning or evening, would that part holding you remain still? It kinda looks like it’s always moving around. I was assuming that it was the thermals.

    • @GolfFoxtrot22
      @GolfFoxtrot22  4 роки тому

      Unfortunately the trike is always moving. The weight shift is how the aircraft is controlled. It's a bit like saying don't pull the controls on a paramotor when you need to flare.

    Nice arrow transition after landing. She took some side slipping to get in! Great video mate, how did you get your radio air and comms so clear, I frequently get the noise of my engine getting picked up by the radio. I’ve tried playing with sql but it doesn’t seem to help.

    Beautiful flight and you "greased" the landing. How far was you flight, how long did it take, what time of day were you out, was there much turbulence, and how did it feel? Thanks.

    • @GolfFoxtrot22
      @GolfFoxtrot22  4 роки тому

      It wasn't a long flight, only 17 miles, point to point, just getting used to flying into a local airstrip. The flight from wheels roll to wheels stop was 35 minutes on the GPS. I launched at 1030 and only a few bumps from the morning thermals starting to build. The flight back was certainly a bit more turbulent and the landings were interesting.
