Yes. I used to own a 2nd-hand Yamaha Clavinova and was cheated when I found out the "sticky" keys. So I changed to the Casio CDP 135 which was great till it collect too much dust and cause a key to fail. So I dismantle and cleaned the dust but unfortunately when closing the keyboard, the audio cable (Awm 2896 80c Vw 1) was accidentally clipped. Luckily it was not a problem as I can buy this from Amazon or Alibaba for a few dollars only. The point to note is this: Get a cloth or plastic cover over your keyboard when not in use. Dust can accumulate under the keyboard and all the keys are greased and dust accumulation can result in grime that will not only alter the pressing sensation but also affect the circuitry too. Same goes for a real piano. Close the cover when not in use.

The reason the keys twist is that the bottom back corner of the key cracks. If you look at the back of a key there is a 90 degree corner and a 45 degree. The 90 is there to stabilize the key side to side, but weakens over time even if the key looks fine at a glance it will have a hairline crack on the inside. If you have a replacement key that is best but strong ca glue can work too by it needs to go back perfectly straight or the key will still twist.

Yes, but one has to take apart MUCH more to get out the broken key... to either then replace it with a "new" one, or try that repair you mentioned (which might not hold either). I'll try this "widget" first, thanks!

@@sonyabrown8869 Key removal is extremely easy. A thin blade knife between the keys at the little arrow on the key. The little arrow shows exactly where to slide the thin knife between the keys, press down on the spring you'll feel, and the key will pop up. Push it forward, then lift it up, and it pops right out. It is very, very, simple. You must unscrew the keyboard (11 to 13 screws, depending on model), push the keyboard forward about 1/2" inch or more so the keys can be removed, and you can easily remove each key to clean or replace them. This is for the white keys, as each is imprinted with the key letter (CDEFGAB) and the little arrow indicating point of release. But for the black keys, you have to remove the white key on each side. The black keys are bound in place by the white keys, but are instantly removable once the adjacent white keys are removed. There are other vids showing this. I know also because I've done it on my Clavinova CVP 601 myself.

Pretty slick! Put a piece of tape over the plastic, and 2 keys on each side, to hold it in place. Now to see if it holds over time.

Chris, if you remove all the screws from underneath the keyboard section the front trimming comes off and loosens the keyboard. The from the top in front of the keys there are around 6 more securing screws that will loosen the keyboard completely. Remove the ribbon cables and the keyboard can be lifted off the base

Anyone ever work on a YAMAHA PF15 (cousin of DX1) experincing sticking key right now.

Doesn't really work. Well, works for a moment, then the plastic insert pops out after not many key strikes. There's nothing to keep them in place.

Chgolandfisher ours have been in since this video and have not poped out. maybe try a very small dab of super glue on just one of the sides to help hold it in place? I
